Hurricane Gaston way out in the Atlantic may produce waves that could cause dangerous rip currents on the Jersey Shore, according to a forecast by the National weather service. The storm was at Hurricane strength before it was downgraded to tropical storm and now back at Hurricane strength.
"THERE IS A MODERATE RISK FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF DANGEROUS RIP
CURRENTS ON SUNDAY. LONG PERIOD SWELLS ASSOCIATED WITH DISTANT TROPICAL CYCLONE GASTON WILL PRODUCE AN ENHANCED THREAT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS FOR MUCH OF THE NEW WEEK.
THERE IS AN ABOVE AVERAGE PROBABILITY FOR AT LEAST A MODERATE
RISK FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS FROM MONDAY
THROUGH WEDNESDAY WITH THE GREATEST RISK EXPECTED TO BE ON
TUESDAY." NWS
