Zechus harabim Lakewood Cheder pools lotto ticket
The Lakewood Cheder has purchased a lottery ticket for each member of the mosad as a group to be shared by every Cheder Bais Faiga faculty and staff member.
Shame on them, buying into the American frenzy that buying a Lotto this week is a must to live a happy life! in the name of helping their Rabbiem, better di something real, like give 2 dollars to each rebbe!
4 Shevat 5776 January 13, 2016 To the 477 Faculty and Staff Members of the Lakewood Cheder and Bais Faiga: The זכות of a רבים, and especially a רבים of תלמידי חכמים ובני תורה and their משפחות, cannot be understated. As a person never knows hoe הקב“ה sends ישועות, we have decided to purchase a lottery ticket for each member of the מוסד as a group, to be shared by every Cheder and Bais Faiga faculty and staff member, with an additional share going to the Cheder itself. הרבה דרכים למקום, and this is simply השתדלות on the Cheder’s part for our devoted employees. Sincerely, Rabbi Yosef Posen Executive Director PS: I have sent a copy of the tickets and their numbers to each school office.
Forgive my confusion, but why was it necessary for them to buy so many tickets? Wouldn't one ticket bought on behalf of all faculty & staff do the same job?
Now when me and my wife work ourselves to the bone to pay tuition, we can rest assured that the school thinks at least twice before throwing money into the garbage.
It's great marketing. Look at it this way a full page ad in the paper costs more than what they paid for the tickets. The message is now out there help schools so they can pay more to the rebbeim moros and staff.
They should rather they follow Orchos Chaim and give a 10k raise or and establish a Simcha fund.

ReplyDeleteThis is an attempt at mimicking the real hard work that Orchos Chaim did
ReplyDeleteNot at all its a nice gesture to help the rebbeim

ReplyDeleteunder who's definition is this called hishtadlus? certainly not almost $1200 spent!

ReplyDeleteHishtadlus would have been to buy one ticket, this is embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteTo buy more than 1 ticket is excessive hishtadlus !! (bordering on Kfira..see egeres chazon ish & Bais halevi sof vayaishev)
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to "gut vet helfen"? All of a sudden everyone is running for the gravy train..

ReplyDeleteterrible marketing! Its terrible PR when everyone finds finds out how schools have extra money to mess around....
Deleteso basically if I donate money there they might just throw it into the trash?
ReplyDeletePlease forgive me if I throw their next mailing to the trash as well.
