Summary: Rabbi Shalom Landau, a Hasidic leader in Williamsburg, has unexpectedly gained a large following on social media, where he shares short clips blending Torah wisdom with practical advice on life, business, and relationships. Though rooted in traditional teachings, his message has reached a wide and diverse audience including secular viewers, non-Jews, and even critics each interpreting it differently. Despite his online popularity, Rabbi Landau remains cautious, concerned his message is being oversimplified. While the content hasn’t significantly boosted donations to his yeshiva, it has brought unusual influence, with some followers even expressing interest in conversion requests he gently discourages. For him, the spread of his teachings, even if sometimes misunderstood, is part of navigating the modern digital world. More

  1. Today is a very tragic day, so many Yidden have been nichshol in believing that this treyfa medina has even an iota of kedusha when it is run by modern day Hellenists, for me personally it is a day akin to tisha bav and we should recite kinos unlike the Young Israel modox who say hallel.

    1. Kinos aren't enough, you should fast too.

    2. The zman is getting to be too much for you already so you need to start take out your frustration on the "Zionists" again? I knew you would be back a few days into the zman.

    3. Are you fasting in honor of your your newly proclaimed day that is akin to Tisha B'Av? Or that isn't enough fun. It's one thing to rail against Young Israel modox . But actually putting your boich where your mouth is, is too much to ask for.

    4. i had to rest as I was fasting till chatzos, correct during bein hazmanim I was away resting and getting my kochos back together. There are so called "yeshivas" "day schools" in places like livingston, englewood and other places that said hallel with the shem of the Abishter earlier today, within driving distance of our ir Hatorah the Yerushalayim of America people can be so misguided and nichshol, it is us with the proper hashkafa that have failed to show them the right path of pure kefira, al zeh ani boche.

    5. You're wrong on every level. It was a Divinely orchestrated miraculous event, and it provided, among thousands of other benefits, a homeland for torn and persecuted Jews after the War and for those from Islamic countries, etc. God has His reasons as to why He made it ccme about largely through secular Jews

    6. why did the jews from the islamic countries need to leave those countries?

    7. Forty years ago, I thought the argument that the state of Israel caused the expulsion of Jews from Arab countries was a good anti-Zionist argument. When I see how what those countries are like I think B'H they were kicked out then and had where to go instead of waiting for some later catastrophe. I'm still not a Zionist but on that particular argument I did a 180 turn. Plus in their native countries they were become more and more secular. They are a lot better off in Israel with the Ma'ayan HaChinuch HaTorani school than some of the secular Jewish educational school systems that were prevalent in their native countries . If you believe the holocaust was because of increasing secularism (I don't claim to know why it happened) then you should also believe that the expulsion from Arab countries was for similar reasons.

  3. Can we stop spreading the lie about the problems in Lakewood being the invasion of Brooklyn. Most of the growth in the town has been locals marrying of children, and those coming from Brooklyn are newlyweds joining BMG. The number of brooklyners and others that moved for cheaper housing is relatively minimal.
With 5000 births/year we need to expand Lakewood in serious numbers or find alternatives.

    1. Blaming the traffic on the chassidim may not be correct, but the home values going through the roof it directly the result of real estate agents pushing the market towards the chassidim from NY.
This occurred around 2015 and that is the exact time that real estate in Lakewood went shooting up so high.
It's a simple matter of supply and demand, when you have a town with limited land available and you take over 1500-2000 units exclusively for a specific group from out of town, and who are willing to pay higher prices, it turns the market on it's head

      Delete
    2. So why has NJ prices gone through the roof in neighborhoods where there are no jews living at all? This has nothing to do with Chasidim.

    3. Yes maybe in North Jersey it was always expensive there.
In Western Jersey near 195 and the turnpike, nice suburban areas, you can get a 3 BR split level with a 2 car garage for 600K.
Try getting anything close to that price in the surrounding towns of Lakewood

      Delete
    4. Fact is Oak and Vine came on the market when the real estate market was slow it only made sense to market it to oot chasisim.

    5. The committee men went to Boro Park to lure the olam and move to Lakewood that is a fact. There was a event in BP showcasing jobs as an incentive for people to move to Lakewood. The developers were allowed to keep prices high while there was zero effort to help the youngeleit.
They are now regretting what went on but it's too late. We were priced out of the town we built.

      Delete
    6. That was pre adirei, now BH the youngeleit are priority #1

      Delete
    7. Fact is oak and vine was township property and the lots were auctioned off to individual buyers, not investors or groups, specifically to give Lakewood residents housing opportunities. Somehow people played games with the rules, lots still ended up in llcs, groups of lots were marketed to Boro Park mosdos, and lots that purchased for $25,000 were a few years later resold for $250,000.

  4. One alternative may be more people working and less learning for 10 or more years. It would also give nachas ruach to Rav Yaakov Kamenetsky who said just that.

  5. The island on Ridge and sidewalks is a Lakewood township project and paid for by lakewood. Since it is on a county road the county 'rubber stamped' it. Mayor Coles in last meeting said the county didnt have approval from Lakewood, this is totally 'pushing the truth'. Lakewood is the one who is doing all this work for whatever reason. Costs are $1.4 million of Lakewood taxpayer money . The county is NOT paying for this. The question is why the urgency for sidewalks in this area? It is not a major pedestrian walkway ? There was a dirt path that people walked on. Why the island? From what I understand even the people living in the neighborhood (yes all of them) were all trying to figure out this walkway/island. Anybody knows what and who is behind all this sidewalk project? It is all Lakewood.
