‘Zos Chukas HaTorah’ There is no mention in the Gemara of the week of Parshas Chukas being one of tragedy, nor is it mentioned by the Rambam, nor Tur, nor Shulchan Aruch! Not even in the Siman where tragedies and proper days to fast are mentioned, Orach Chaim 580! In fact, most are wholly unfamiliar with anything specifically attributed to this week. Yet, the Magen Avraham, citing the Sefer HaTanya[1] (an earlier source that the famous Kabbalistic work of the Shulchan Aruch HaRav), tells of a terrible, albeit fascinating, historical tragedy.

NJ.com Birth rates have been declining for decades in the United States, causing concern among demographers and planners who worry a smaller youth movement may struggle to prop up a much larger aging populace.
New Jersey is no different, but a handful of towns are bucking that trend. NJ Advance Media analyzed 25 years of birth record data and found that 17 towns, and only 17, have birth rates outpacing the state average and have seen their birth rate grow in the last quarter century.

Girls camp season begins
Summer has begun and the girls schools in Lakewood have finished for the year. Camp season begins today with girls proudly wearing their camp bags and other camp paraphernalia. After a long hard year with some snow storms, busing threats, homework etc.. the kinderlach get some time to unwind in a non pressure environment enjoying the summer fun. Thanks to the morah's and counselors who provide a fun Torah environment for the Lakewood kinderlach.

NWS Confirms 2 Tornadoes In Howell
HOWELL, NJ Patch.com—(June 24, 2017) The National Weather Service has confirmed that two tornadoes touched down during Saturday morning's severe storm. see Video below
The worst of the damage was centered around the Route 9/West Farms Road area, police said, with Ideal Plaza and the Home Depot receiving "considerable damage," police said.
The weather service said the first tornado was the one seen in the now widely circulated video taken by Brett M. Dzadik at the Home Depot. That tornado touched down at 7:21 a.m., rated an EF-0, had wind speeds of up to 75 mph and a path of about 40 yards wide for about a half-mile, the service said.

Severe Weather Thunderstorms in Lakewood
Heavy downpours and Thunderstorms passed over Lakewood knocking out power in some areas. There was a storm related electrical fire on Princeton Avenue. School is over for the Girls
The school year in Lakewood started back in September there was uncertainty with the busing at the time it took a while but eventually most schools had buses while others got used to carpooling. It was a mild winter and after a long school year the children and teachers can rest up and catch a well deserved break Summer has begun and the girls schools in Lakewood have finished for the year. Some schools will have a half day today, playgroups too are over. Camp season begins next week Monday. The boys this year will continue for another month. As for Next year the LSTA says most of the routes have been picked up.

Its Chasunah season, The simcha halls in Lakewood were booked all week long. Walk to your fridge, look at your calendar, check out your scheduler on your cell phone, the boxes are full and scribbled in with reminders for the many Simchas during the month of June. B"H there are so many simchos in klal yisrael. We tend not to report on positive and good news. Yet how can we ignore the very fact that yidden are traveling every night to one, two, or even three weddings. Families are commuting throughout the Tri-state area, from Brooklyn to Lakewood, from Lakewood to Monsey, or from out of town. Many are traveling long road trips to or from the Midwest or other places out of town to attend a family simcha.
We are witnessing the continuation and constant building of klal yisrael. The continuation of the promise of lo yomushu mpi zraacha. Yes we are getting home very late and than have a wedding the next night again. Not to forget the Shabbos aufruf and the excited family get together for Shabbos Sheva Brachos.
We tend to take it for granted, however we must stop and pause and see what is going on around us. We should appreciate the kindness of Hashem and to think about, and help those that are having a difficult time with shidduchim during theses times of Simcha.

APP reports- In a Facebook Live interview with the Press last week, Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno maintained that Lakewood’s perpetual funding problems could be eliminated if the state simply fixed its inequitable school funding formula, which has long provided aid to many school districts that don’t deserve it, and denied it to those who need it the most.
If the Legislature and Gov. Chris Christie can’t arrive at a revised funding formula prior to the June 30 deadline for passage of the 2017-18 budget, something else must be done to help Lakewood. There must be a change in the way the district’s school aid is calculated. The district needs a permanent fix, not a series of loans it will never be able to pay off.
