Smell of fire from controlled burning
The smell of smoke in the air is from a controlled burn conducted by the NJ Forest Fire Service in Ocean County. The sheriff’s office said the burning is being conducted in the area of Wranglebrook Road and Schoolhouse Road in Manchester. Controlled burns, also known as prescribed burns, are conducted by the state Forest Fire Service to reduce underbrush in areas that are susceptible to fire.
