This should be the Last Fast of Tisha B'Av

Another year we sit on the floor again.
Chazal say כל המתאבל על ירושלים - זוכה ורואה בשמחתה. ושאינו מתאבל על ירושלים - אינו רואה בשמחתה
Hopefully this will be the last tisha B'av we have. We await the geula and hope for the day to become a moed speedily in our days. It should be the last Tisha B'av because we don't know what to mourn and how to mourn.
Unfortunately we are at a time in history that the sad day of Tisha Bav is  sadly no more. Sitting on the floor reading the kinnus in shul is not what the children are growing up with today. The day has been taken over and abused.
Ask a kid today what they know about Tisha B'av and see what the the first thing that comes to mind is. It has become a movie day of video binge watching, marketers use it as a release date for high end productions, premiers and to at times, to push agendas.
(Modern technology allows us to sit in the  comfort of our homes and listen to inspiring shiurim and speeches live streaming  online. These programs are not entertaining in nature its a live drasha broadcasted)
The  messages in these videos  may be sincere in spreading ahavas chinom, the ills of Lashon hora and sinas chinom. Perhaps all this preparation should be done before tisha bav in the days leading up to it so people can utilize the day properly. It should not be a day we look forward to, but as  a day we look forward to become a Yom Tov משום דאיקרי מועד

  1. You are right !
It’s is tragic that Tisha Bav has been turned into Rosh Hashona and Yom Kippur speeches instead of a Day of Mourning.
Our parents who remembered the holocaust, the gas chambers the suffering, they obviously understood this , today people with agendas have subverted Tisha Bav into something it Is Not and wasn’t meant to be !

  2. Rambam says that aveilus is supposed to be a catalyst for introspection and teshuvah so it all actually seems on point

    1. Introspection can only be done when watching videos in a 10 hour binge?

    3. So many are so unconnected they sit around with friends and movies.Better they should abolish Tisha b’av afternoon altogether. Skip the disingenuous apologetics.
If you’re incapable of any else, sit for 15 minutes of contemplative silence. Try it twice. That’s too difficult?

This is part of a greater more serious situation. A couple generations have been raised to run away from, and avoid as if of danger of, introspection
A visit to concentration camps has to be followed with a Kumbaya kumzitz. If some at a loss what to do, keep quiet. Peer inside

  3. Also, it is wrong to attend things (like these Tisha b’Av videos) in groups. The Shulchan Aruch says on the minhag of going to a bais hakevaros לא ילך בכנופיא.

  4. I see no reason why Hashem should give us back the בית המקדש. Hashem goes to one person sitting in this corner, he has beautiful children he already bought his house he has a car, he's so happy hes not grieving over my בית המקדש that's 1 less person for my בית המקדש. The next person sitting at this corner has beautiful children he loves to learn & has a rich Father-in-law supporting him he's so happy hes not grieving over my בית המקדש thats 1 less person for my בית המקדש. what is Hashem saying to his Malachim? just look at my children down there look how happy they are i gave them everything cars, planes, computers, Electricity & phones Etc... forget if they are Makir Tov (Grateful) for everything i give them that is not today's lesson, Let me leave my בית המקדש up in heaven with me when my children cry for it i will give it back to them, but right now look how happy they are. A perfect Mashal would be if a Principal in a Cheder took away a ball from a boy, because he was hitting people with it. If he went to the Principal & said i'm sorry i just want to have fun i won't hit anyone with it. I give you my word he will give him his ball back. Do you think the Principal needs it? He already has a whole basket sitting in his office. Hashem is waiting for Klal Yisroel to wake up & do תשובה, the gates of תשובה are never closed, the worst kings of Klal Yisroel did תשובה at the end of their life yes, Achav & Menashe look at them, after 30 years of avoda zora Menashe cried & wept out all the way from his heart for teshuva from Hashem & Hashem accepted it WHY? Because he really meant it. Hashem is waiting for Klal Yisroel to do תשובה. Hashem is waiting for the day to put his presence back in this world & bring us back the Bais Hamikdosh but we just don't seem to be ready.
in yiddishkeit, if a person wants something (be it a livlihood, shidduch or child etc…) a person needs to do more then just daven & say tehillim, the person needs to also YEARN for it.-sadly- in today's society we are living in, we are not YEARNING for the Bais Hamikdosh, we have everything from planes to cars & computers etc… even the gift of Shabbos for Gashmius to sleep & relax etc… HASHEM SAYS to klal yisroel, come back to me when your ready & ask me for something from your HEART & i will give you whatever you want (i’m sure if your child came to you for something you would get it, why wouldn’t you? the love between a parent & child is unlimited…. & that's the way Hashem loves EACH & EVERY ONE OF US)
All of us have heard, read & seen tons of true stories of people who had their first child at 42 or had a sick child in critical condition, & then the doctor says i'm very sorry but your daughter has only 3 hours to live & then he comes back 2 hours later & says its really a miracle but your child is beginning to recover etc.... Why is it that they finally had a child & the child recovered? There could be tons of answers, but the most common answer Is a Pasuk we say 3 times a day in Davening. Hashem is close to all who call to him, to all who call out truthfully. (Tehillim 145)Because they cried out from their heart, they really meant what they were saying when they davened to H-shem to have a baby or for his daughter to recover etc.... there's a reason we call Hashem, Avinu She'bashamayim (our father in heaven) Hashem loves us from a father to a son & is waiting to put his Shchina (presence) & his bais hamikdosh back in this world. If we really cried out for the Bais Hamikdosh from our heart with truth & show that we are missing it, then we wouldn't still be in Golus today

May we all wake ourselves up from living in denial and accept Hashems wake up call for serious Teshuva and Achdus together ASAP so Mashiach can come already.

    1. Thank you for the important mussar! You are 1000% correct. We need to YEARN and feel that we are missing the Bais Hamikdash.

  6. I'm not sitting on the floor. Its Wed. 12:46PM.
Your whole drasha may just be moot.
Btween now and 8:16 PM lots of things can happen. If you think it can't or it won't
You don't have to bother to sit on the floor at 8:16 tonight either, not tomorrow.

    4. Plenty of people cannot understand it.

Would there be a Tisha B'av video promoting Rav Ahron ZT"L????? Anyone else?

And it's unfair and completely wrong to make any comparison between them. So much Torah, Avodah and Gemilas chasodim is due to Rav Aharon- who lived and breathed it all.

What is this intended to inspire?

  9. I want to ask you something what's the reason for fasting what do all fasts have in common? תשובה & אבילות (mourning) look at us today we all look at our clocks 5 hours left 4 hours etc... the last 20 minutes we all stand at the clock with our cup of water . Just like it says in the beginning of ישעיה הנביא Hashem said to him, “all of your days set aside for fasting are FRAUDS i don't want anything to do with them”. Its TRUE its all FRAUD we don't mean it or feel it when we fast. we fast because we were told to fast. Whats the use in fasting if you're not going to feel it? 10% of the reason is because the רבנים said to fast the other 90% is why they said to fast, we do the 10 % if you don't feel it, not that its no use in fasting its already an embarrassment to the fast (itself) if you'd/we'd really want Hashem to forgive you/us for your/our sins you/we would not look at the clock on יום כיפור for that 25 minute break -between Musaf & Mincha-to come up & if you had it you would say some תהלים .If you/we really felt bad for the בית המקדש you/we would not look at the clock on תשעה באב when חצות is so you/we can go back to sitting on a couch.

May we all wake up and face reality and accept Hashems wake up call for serious Teshuva and Achdus together as one loving nation so Hashem can send Mashiach already bkarov

If binge watching makes one think better than fasting should they not fast and instead watch videos for 25 hours?

    3. Imagine a Yid standing at the end of Tisha Be'av with a cup of water.
It is Bein Hashemashos, a Safek Issur derabanan, yet he will not allow himself to drink. It is hot, he has been extremely uncomfortable all day, yet the psak of the Poskim that a Taanis must finish after Bein Hashemashos holds him back. Nobody will see him, he can get away with it.

      But he controls himself.

What a beautiful thing! How can anyone look down at such a person?
