One killed in Jackson crash 3 others hospitalized


 Update- The driver has reportedly been released and the passenger is being held for observations due to abdominal injuries.
JACKSON – One person died Sunday morning in a two-car crash at Cedar Swamp Road by Glory's near the exit to 195 Jackson police said. The road remains closed while authorities investigate. From the APP – A 68-year-old Jackson man died Sunday after two cars collided at Cedar Swamp Road and West Commodore Boulevard, authorities said.

James G. McCarthy died at the intersection after a 2014 Toyota Rav4 collided with a 2015 Toyota Highlander at 10:18 a.m., said Al Della Fave, spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. McCarthy was a passenger in the Rav4, he said.


The Rav4 was traveling eastbound on West Commodore Boulevard when witnesses told police it failed to stop at a red light, according to the Prosecutor’s Office. The Highlander, which was traveling northbound on Cedar Swamp Road, entered the intersection at the same time and collided with the passenger side of the Rav4, Della Fave said.Both the driver and passenger of the Highlander — Shmuel Moerman, 51, and Ahuva Moerman, 50, both of Lakewood — suffered serious injuries and were also taken to the Neptune hospital, Della Fave said.

The crash remains under investigation.
