Large westgate style development coming to 14th street area

There is no safe place anymore, if developers have their way a new large development will be built on one of the last quiet areas of town. Local residents are outraged, as the area is known to be one of the quietest areas of Lakewood. Nestled among quiet blocks on the Northern shore the lake Carasaljo and GCU it is not zoned for even duplexes! Developers have quietly purchased properties along 14th street adjacent to the college and are in talks with university officials to buy large swaths of land from Forest Avenue stretching along 14th street to Case rd. They plan to parcel off these lots and put up a 500 unit rental development. The eastern entrance will be off Forest Avenue on one side and will come out on Case rd from the other side. Plans are to open up the dead ends along fourteenth street and make them through streets connecting to the proposed development. Some Lakewood residents feel the density in town should be spread equally and not only designated for the south side at Oak street.  As one resident put it "Its time the decision makers get a taste of what the rest of Lakewood goes through on a daily basis".

Baalei chesed hope to establish a fund to assist the family as they deal with this tzarah. Thousands of Lakewood youngeleit responded by extended themselves and giving what they could, paying in installments. A community wide chizuk asifa will take place in Westgate, Thursday before Maariv on Taanis Esther to coincide with the end of Shiva.

7 Adar a special day

7th of Adar today Sunday (March 5th) was the birth and passing of Moshe Rabainu ע"ה. and also the passing of Ester Hamalka ע"ה.  It is a day that has great segula for prayers. It is worthy to put a lot of effort into the tefillos on this day. It is fitting to light a candle in honor of the 2 tzadikim.
       Particularly to read chapter 22 in tehilim which Ester Hamalka ע"ה wrote when she besceeched Hash-m to flip the Mazel of the Jewish nation. We to today can ask Hash-m to flip our personal Mazel. And also if we feel we are in rot. And anything we feel is not going our way both in mundane things and in Holy matters.

She was a daughter of Rav Eliezer Hamburger shlita from Brooklyn a Talmid Muvhak of Rav Avigdor Miller Zatzal. Shiva is in Lakewood at the Dorfman home 413 13th street.

A parlor meeting will take place this evening March 5th at 7 pm. At the home of Reb Zalman sorotzkin Rav of B"m Lutzk 19 Olive court Lakewood. R' Yaakov Yitzchok Stern Z"L was a member of the kollel in Lutzk shul and spent hours learning in the baiis medrash. To donate call 732-250-9015. The Roshei Yeshiva asked the youngeleit to contribute $180 for the keren which can be paid over the year in installments. Other neighborhoods are hosting Parlor meetings as well.

At about 10:15  a car driving meshulachim flipped over at N. Lake drive and Curtis lane near Hope chapel Rd in Lakewood. 4 patients were taken to Jersey Shore hospital, B"H some a few patients were released from the hospital.

Keren Yaakov Yitzchok launched for R' Yaakov Yitzchok Stern A''H

Following the sudden and tragic Petirah of Haavreich Reb Yaakov Yitzchok Stern Z''L a fund has been set up to help support his mishpacha. R’ Yaakov Yitzchok (JJ) Stern z”l  37 years oldwas a budding Talmid Chochom who collapsed Thursday night outside his home in Lakewood. Thousands attended the Levayos in Lakewood, as it passed through Bais Medrash Govoha. He left behind an almanah and 6 children lo aleinu  Friends and Rabbonim launched a keren that will raise the necessary funds to support the bereaved family. Initial Parlor meetings are taking place over the next few days to help get the campaign off the ground.

Turx takes off Twitter Yarmulka, confirms flat tire story about Trump

In an interview with Kol Habira the newspaper of the greater Washington area, Jake Turx mentioned that he is retiring his now famous Jake Turx Twitter yarmulke and will replace it with a more traditional one. In the article Turx said he confirmed the story about Donald Trump paying off the mortgage of a Jewish man (Rumored to be a Lakewood youngerman) who stopped on a NJ highway when Trump had a flat Tire.
About the Yarmulka  "he was told that it may have helped him stand out and get called on by the president amongst the 40-plus hands that were up at the time and that it was an effective marketing tool for adding thousands of twitter followers. However, he was also advised that a more traditional yarmulke would be deemed more respectful when speaking to the president, so he ultimately has made the switch. And now for the flat Tire story.

Matzav.com- It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the sudden passing of R’ Yaakov Yitzchok (JJ) Stern z”l of Lakewood. He leaves behind his wife and six children, and family and friends shocked by his sudden petirah. He was just 37 years old.

The levaya will be held at 9 a.m. at the Congregation Sons of Israel Memorial Chapel, located off of East Seventh Street in Lakewood. Kevurah will follow at the King Solomon Memorial Park Cemetery, located at 550 Dwasline Road in Clifton, NJ.

R’ Yaakov Yitzchok was found shortly before 1 a.m., having apparently collapsed next to his car near his home on North Crest Place in West Gate in Lakewood. Hatzolah was called, but their efforts at resuscitation were to no avail.

Matzav.com This morning, a tree landed on a moving school bus headed to pick up students from a local frum girls school in Lakewood, NJ. Boruch Hashem, there were no injuries in the incident, which occurred a short while ago near the intersection of White Road and Cross Street.
The bus was operating for Meoros Bais Yaakov, one of the premier girls elementary schools in Lakewood led by its dean, Rabbi Avrohom Landau.

The bus belongs to Jays Bus Co.
