Israel At War Tuesday Feb 12

Israel at war day 494

- Trump: We're not going to have to buy, we're going to have Gaza. We don't have to buy — there's nothing to buy — we will have Gaza... We're gonna take it. We’re going to hold it. We’re going to cherish it ."

- Q: to King of Jordan, what do you feel about the U.S taking Gaza?
King Abdullah: this is something that as arabs we’ll come to the U.S to discuss, we’ll talk about the options
Q: Take it under what authority? It is sovereign territory
Donald Trump: Under the US authority.

- First response from Hamaas: “Committed to the ceasefire agreement as long as Israel is committed to it."

- Trump: I have a deadline until Saturday, I personally think Hamas will not meet the deadline. They are trying to play them "tough guy" but we'll see who is the tough guy here....

- Amit Segal N12: Senior Israeli official: Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Cabinet are sticking to US President Trump's announcement regarding releasing the hostages. *That is, they will ALL be released on Saturday.”
Israel knew in advance about Trump's ultimatum. Full coordination between Jerusalem and Washington

- Trump: ALL hostages by noon on Saturday
The US will take control of Gaza but will not buy it I don't think Hamas will comply with releasing all the hostages by Saturday.
A bully is always the weakest person, and Hamas are bullies

- King Abdullah, in his meeting with Trump, agreed (for now) to accept 2,000 children from Gaza in Jordan.

- IDF Spokesperson: Based on the assessment of the situation and the decision to raise the level of alertness and readiness in the Southern Command sector, it was decided to further strengthen the forces, including mobilizing reserves. Forces are being reinforced, and reserves are mobilized to prepare for various scenarios.

- Al-Arabiya reports Egypt will not allocate a plot of land to Gaza residents for subsistence, closing the door to this proposal. Egypt has insisted on not expelling Gaza residents and settling them elsewhere. In Cairo, they are furious at statements by Israel and the US that have conveyed a clear message to Washington and have also demanded clarification from the US regarding Trump's statements regarding the imposition of sanctions

- Prime Minister Netanyahu: “I have just concluded an in-depth four-hour discussion in the political-security cabinet. We all expressed outrage at the shocking situation of our three hostages who were released last Saturday.  We all also welcomed President Trump's demand for the release of our hostages by Saturday noon, and we all also welcomed the president's revolutionary vision for the future of Gaza.  In light of Hams' announcement of its decision to violate the agreement and not release our hostages, last night, I ordered the IDF to amass forces inside and around the Gaza Strip. This operation is being carried out at this time. It will be completed very shortly.

The decision that I passed unanimously in the cabinet is this: If Hams does not return our hostages(the 9 in phase A) by Saturday noon - the ceasefire will end. The IDF will return to intense fighting until Hama is finally defeated."

- IDF notifies family of hostage Shlomo Mansour, that he was killed during the October 7, 2023, onslaught, the military says. Mansour was murdered in Kibbutz Kissufim and his body was taken by Hamas terrorists to the Gaza Strip, where it remains held.
Of the 76 remaining hostages in the Gaza Strip, the IDF has confirmed the deaths of 36.

- Twin Brothers Alive in Gaza, signs indicate that 27-year-old twins Gali and Ziv Berman from Kibbutz Kfar Aza are still alive in Gaza, though their situation remains perilous.

- A security cabinet meeting to discuss Israel’s response to Hamas’s postponement of the release of hostages has ended after four and a half hours. There is no immediate comment from the Prime Minister’s Office on any decisions that may have been made during the meeting.

- Report: PM Netanyahu met with Jared Kushner, said to be behind Trump’s Gaza plan, during US visit last week

- Hamas spokesman Abdel Latif al-Qanoa told Qatari Al Arabi: "We are ready to resume the prisoner exchange if Israel adheres to the demands of the first phase of the agreement. Threats and the use of force will not lead to their release."

- Houthis say they will resume attacks on Israel if Gaza ceasefire fails

- Report on Saudi Al-Arabiya: Egypt has prepared emergency plans to deal with American pressure regarding the displacement of Gazans. It was noted that Cairo has made a final decision on Gaza and refuses to back down from it. According to the report, Cairo has not received any notification of any halts to the American aid - but has decided to take precautions to deal with any possible interruption

- Family of hostage Omri Miran says it has received sign of life as of July 2024 from a hostage recently released from Gaza as part of the ceasefire deal with Hamas.

- An Israeli request to extend the hezbollah ceasefire until February 28  but US plans to stick to Feb. 18 deadline, official says israel had prepared a plan for security arrangements to be imposed on both sides of the border after the withdrawal of IDF forces, which includes strategic border posts where IDF special forces troops will be deployed
