Radio Kol Berama 107.9 fm issues a update after shabbos that B"H there was nothing for them to report over shabbos. Some Lakewood residents kept their  radios on over shabbos.

Harold Herskowitz on Twitter: Lakewood protest for George Floyd brings out 500 peaceful marchers. No outside agitators came thanks to a strong police presence. Thank you to all for a peaceful event.

Matzav report -A protest that took place on Shabbos in Lakewood, NJ over the death of George Floyd involved no serious incidents, vandalism or looting, boruch Hashem. Approximately 400 people took place in the march down Clifton Avenue. The organizers included a high school teacher who wrote online that there will no change until “bloodshed” arises and allegedly posted anti-Semitic messages on Facebook. That teacher, Marquis Oliver, is a 2013 graduate of Lakewood High School who claims that his online page was hacked and that he never wrote those messages.

The protest was held along Clifton Avenue, beginning at 9th Street and Clifton Avenue and ending at Lakewood Town Square. A number of frum Lakewood residents were seen joining in the march down Clifton Avenue, shoulder to shoulder with Black Lives Matter activists.

One storeowner in the down town vicinity told Matzav.com that he did find an anti-Semitic message on his property and that there was clearly an attempt to enter his establishment, though, he said, it wasn’t serious.
The local community was unsure of how the protest would play out, knowing about the violent protests across America this past week. Storeowners removed all cash, valuables and inventory from their stores and boarded up their storefronts.

“We thank the Lakewood Police Department for being out there and doing a great job maintaining order,” a storeowner told Matzav.com. “The department, led by Police Chief Greg Meyer, are exemplary public servants and we are deeply grateful for all they do and especially for their presence this weekend.”

-Article about Protest in the Jewish voice Lakewood residents not calm by assurances from politicians and law enforcement
"The Jewish community is up in arms about this. Lakewood children are terrified. They see and hear the news of what is happening to Jewish businesses in New York and Los Angeles.
” This protest is a gross injustice to the people of Lakewood. .... There have been posts saying “get those Jews, ruin Jewish business,” and more.
The Lakewood Police Department demanded from all stores in the downtown remove all valuables and possibly board up which many of them did. Obviously, the police know that chances are it is going to get violent and they are not going to protect property.
"They are willing to sacrifice Jewish property and more just to pander to the far left so to further advance their political interests.”
" a young man in his late 20s and a resident of Lakewood told the Jewish Voice that he was completely prepared to confront the protestors on Shabbos. “This protest on Shabbos is putting a lot of residents of Lakewood on edge,
Why is the Board of Education wasting my taxpayer dollars on an issue that not related to education in anyway??   Little Children Matter! Jewish Lives Matter!!!,” Sharabi declared. read full article HERE

Letter: Lekovod all Yungeleit and Talmidei Hayeshiva,

Lekovod all Yungeleit and Talmidei Hayeshiva,

My name is Hershel (Harold) Herskowitz. I am a musmach and talmid of BMG. Perhaps you remember when I decided to run for the Township Committee 10 years ago against Bob Singer . Boruch Hashem i received most of the votes from the frum community but ultimately lost because Singer got the senior vote. I lost by only 430 votes. My campaign was focused on making sure that we have people on the committee that care more about the klal and not only a few connected people. After losing the campaign we succeeded in getting Aisik Akerman to be on the committee after Bob Singer dropped out from fear of losing the election.

In the ten years since , I have watched the town grow very quickly, sometimes with no regard to fixing infrastructure first. Our quality of life fell quickly as the town became similar to Brooklyn with traffic and a lack of focus on what we really are. An Ihr Hatoirah. Along with traffic and higher taxes, we also caused a tremendous amount of Aiva that is a big problem now. This Aiva was caused simply because we were focusing on doing favors for a few people.

A Message from Harold Herskowitz

 This is the young man organizing the protest on Saturday see below. He is also an employee of the Lakewood school system. This is the young man that was just praised on TLS By;
Bob Singer, Yisroel Schenkolewski, Aaron Kotler, Moshe Velvel weisberg, NAACP, Pastor Glenn Wilson And others.
Of course his call for the destruction of Jewish businesses is not so bad. As long as he doesn't complain about development.
Rabbi Weisberg and the Lakewood Scoop had a realtor fired when he wrote that he wishes so many chasidim weren't moving from Brooklyn to Toms River.
You all put us and our businesses in danger. Social media is filled with threats for the upcoming protest. I hope nothing bad happens. But you put us all in danger nevertheless.  You all proved today that you do not care about the klal. You care about your image. Shame on all of you.
Signed,
 Harold Herskowitz.

Senate Republicans Call on Gov. Murphy to Open Houses of Worship and Reopen more of NJ

The 10-person limitation should be lifted. That includes at our indispensable churches, temples, mosques, and synagogues, which are as important now as ever. Risk is mitigated in each of those places by the precautionary measures that the facilities and their visitors take, not by a government designation as “essential.”

The 15 members of the Senate Republican caucus called on Gov. Murphy for clarity and action to reopen more of New Jersey.

May 27, 2020,

Dear Governor Murphy,

As the threat of COVID-19 continues to recede quickly for the general public, it is imperative that we make smart and fair decisions to end the hardships that continue to impact many New Jerseyans. We are concerned that many of the broad restrictions that remain on various activities and business operations as a result of the executive orders you issued at the start of the COVID-19 crisis seem to make little sense today.
