APP- An Orthodox Jewish man struck a deal to unlock a pedestrian gate for Jewish observances at a Lakewood 55-and-over community.Nathan Reiss filed in December 2017 a state discrimination complaint claiming The Enclave's pedestrian gate prevented him from walking to a synagogue because the gate required the use of an electronic key card. During the Sabbath, those observing the Orthodox Jewish faith can't use a car or electricity.
Tuesday, the New Jersey Attorney General's Office announced a deal between Reiss and The Enclave, in which the gate would be unlocked during Sabbath hours and on Jewish holidays.

NYC Council Proposes Fur Ban, Shtreimel May be Exempt
Hamodia.com - The New York City Council has proposed a bill that would ban on the sale of all new fur items in all five boroughs, a plan that could have foreboding ramifications for shtreimel wearers in the Orthodox community.
Democratic Councilman Stephen Levin, whose district includes much of Williamsburg, told Hamodia that though the legislation was in its early stages, members were aware of the impasse it could pose to constituencies such as his own, and were favorably disposed to creating an exemption, should it advance.
“We heard quickly about the shtreimel,” he told Hamodia. “It’s my understanding that they are an article of a religious nature, in which case I would expect them to be exempt. That’s not in the language of the bill right now, but I certainly think that it’s an issue that ought to be addressed.”

No plan to Ban Unvaccinated Children in Lakewood
NJ and Lakewood officials say they have no plans to follow Rockland county and ban unvaccinated children from public spaces, due to a measles outbreak. New Jersey Health Commissioner Shereef Elnahal said New Jersey has no plans to follow Rockland County's measures.
“There are a number of interim steps we can take if we see a surge in the number of cases," he said according to a report in the APP. Lakewood mayor Ray Coles also said despite the outbreak in Lakewood officials are not considering any measures like those undertaken in Rockland County.

WOW Air shuts down leaving passengers Stranded
Bochurim returning for Bein Hazmanim.
Bloomberg - Wow Air Hf has gone out of business, stranding thousands of passengers and creating potentially huge risks for Iceland’s tiny economy and its growing reliance on tourism.
The discount carrier is the eighth European airline to have failed since the summer as margins are pinched by fluctuating fuel costs and over-capacity that’s sparked a continent-wide fare war.
Wow’s demise should bring short-term relief to local rival Icelandair Hf. Ryanair Holdings Plc, EasyJet Plc and Wizz Air Holdings Plc -- Europe’s three biggest discount airlines -- also fly to the island in the North Atlantic, whose popularity has grown exponentially in recent years thanks to television shows like Game of Thrones.

Record 6000 Families Head to Orlando for Pesach 2019
Kosher Today- Record 6000 Families Head to Orlando for Passover
Orlando…Walt Elias Disney was said to have been a creative dreamer and genius but it is unlikely that he dreamt that the city that houses his world of fantasy and the celebrated Mickey Mouse would also be the central destination for Orthodox Jews on Passover 2019. Sources tell Kosher Today that as many as 6000 families (25,000-30,000 people) will fill thousands of villas and rentals as well as hotels during the Passover holiday (evening of April 19-April 27th) in this Central Florida city. Many kosher supermarkets will be shipping truckloads of Passover foods to the vacationers. Several kosher caterers have been retained to cater Seder meals at some of the villa complexes. The Grove Kosher Market with stores in Boca Raton, Delray Beach and Hollywood will deliver food for a $150 delivery fee with a minimum $950 order. Some New York kosher grocers will also be shipping kosher fare to Orlando. Travel experts say that many of the Orlando Passover vacationers either stayed home previously or were in one of the 100 hotel programs. They also say that this year’s week-long Chol Hamoed (interim period) prompted the expansion. “Just look at the airfares,” one expert said, “and you will quickly realize how demanding the route to Orlando is.
