"I pulled back on the controls and stopped the plane's dive. Good thing I watched 'Air Crash Investigation.'a docuseries that breaks down real aviation disasters and emergency procedures. After that the crew on board helped land the plane. Netanyahu called in a Nes from above.
- A commercial flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday after a violent clash reportedly erupted in the cockpit. According to Israeli officials, the co-pilot an Emerati stabbed the captain and attempted to take control of the aircraft with the intention of crashing it, in what they described as a suspected terrorist act. The plane reportedly plunged about 17,000 feet in less than a minute before Israeli passengers stormed the cockpit, subdued the co-pilot, and helped stabilize the aircraft. Another pair of pilots aboard the flight then took control, and the plane landed safely in Saudi Arabia. None of the roughly 180 passengers, most of whom were Israeli, were reported injured. Officials calling it the sukkos 5787 miracle.

- A Memorable First Days of Sukkos in Lakewood
The first days of Sukkos in Lakewood were certainly memorable, with heavy rains and strong winds throughout Yom Tov. A Nor’easter soaked parts of N.J. with 4+ inches of rain. The Lakewood area received bet 4-5 inches of rain.
B’H, on the first night of Yom Tov, the rain arrived later in the evening, allowing many people to have their first meal inside the sukkah. However, rain continued through much of the remainder of Yom Tov. A brief pause in the rain on the first day allowed time for a brief seudah, though the rain continued straight through the night, making it difficult for many to say the bracha of leishev basukkah and eat a kezayis in the sukkah on the second night. On the second day, the rain stopped early, allowing a few hours for people to have a seudah in the sukkah. The rain then resumed and continued for the rest of Yom Tov.
The weather also caused significant damage to many sukkahs. Some sukkahs collapsed, while in others the schach fell in, caved in, or was blown away. Some schach became extremely heavy from the accumulated rainwater on the shlock, causing the sukkah underneath to give way and, in some cases, topple inward. Many awnings also broke or were unable to withstand the strong winds. Despite the severe weather conditions, there were no reports of any power outages. In Ocean County, some 17,800 customers lost power around midday, including 10,800 in Brick, or 30% of the town. The Lexington area blackout from 930 to 1230.
Nearby areas in Ocean and Monmouth counties experienced much higher totals such as Toms River with 3.70 inches and Bradley Beach with over 5 inches while Lakewood remained on the lower end of the regional precipitation spectrum.

ReplyDeleteCan we get a pashkevil from the kannoim against the disgusting displays of fressing on display from American gvirim in Yerushalayim this Sukkos? Or are they only interested in making trouble for us have-nots?
ReplyDeleteThey had private Chol Hamoed concerts, too!!! That's totally assur for us harmon am, I am sure we'll see a cascade of condemnation from prominent rebbes and roshei yeshiva...
DeleteOnce you get away from those who know what you really are, you could do whatever the blank you want. Whether Cancun, Bermuda, or Israel.
DeleteSly gvirim.
They maay also want to protest against this video.
DeleteIn 1980, at the Knessia Gedolah in Yerushalayim, a Kel Moleh was recited for Gedolom who were niftar recently and fo the FALLEN SOLDIERS.
Among the Gedolim there were
Rav Moshe Feisntein, Rav Yaakon Kamenetsky, Rav ruderman, Rav Shach and Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbah and Rav Schneur Kotler.
It should be shown in LAKEWOOD!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckSbdC8QluU&t=6s
To the rabble-rousers on Hefkervelt, a supposed private 'concert' is somehow the same as a huge concert.
DeleteHow are they different? You think the gvirim are hermeticaly sealing the women out of the sukkah, or that the type of music is any frummer? The only difference is they have the money to keep the rabble out and the rabbonim quiet.
Delete9:26,
DeleteDirection is of major import. In 1980 Israel seemed like it was beginning to move in some better direction.
Since then, we l have become much more sanguine. [All the aforementioned based on decisions on other changing directions probably would have sadly agreed]
great job!
ReplyDeleteThe gevirim that stayed home also had concerts with rabbanim and r"y in attendance. There's an old saying "money talks" I guess it never got stale.
ReplyDeleteIn our communities it used to talk less
DeleteConcert at the chasdei lev event is OK but when they make them around lakewood for the bochurim it's assur? And certain parties make sure they get shut down. Sounds a bit hypocritical to me.
ReplyDeleteYou can ask that question about any concert. As one of the Roshei Yeshiva who opposed the concert explained, until recently the entertainment industry never tried making events specifically for Yeshiva Bochurim during Bein HaZamanim and never tried recruiting them as their target audience. When that changed the Roshei Yeshiva protested.
DeleteRight, concerts are only allowed during zeman.
DeleteGot it.
6:49 Yes, exactly. “Concerts shouldn’t specifically target Yeshiva bochurim during Bein HaZmanim” obviously means “concerts are only allowed during zeman.” It takes real effort to misunderstand a point that completely.
DeleteRenting out 6Flags for the 2 middle days of chol hamoed is a bit much when the rest of town would also like to get to go. NCSY had to take Thursday when most people aren't doing such a major trip anymore. Besides why do the rabbeims kids need 6flags? I can't afford to take my kids to 6flags so we just don't go. there are plenty of other fun and exciting things to do. The rabbeim get 6flags and Robert's carnival so the other days they don't need to do much while us working middle class families go to a local park 1 or 2 days because we can't afford anything. Then they go back to school and the rabbeims kids(who are supposed to set the example) are discussing 6flags. Chasdei lev just upped the level of entertainment for chol hamoed. Which wasn't necessary.
ReplyDeleteAs a rebbe myself trying to get on chasdei lev im not a fan of amusement parks even when all frum people are there start with teenage girls on rollercoasters screaming with teenage boys one or two cars away. Like the previous comment why higher the expectations and last but not least is this money raised or is it the part of the moisad that the rebbe is teaching in is sponsoring this. There are so many important things the rebbe could do with this money being spent on one day in the amusement park. Give each rebbe the money being spent on his family for the park and it will be much more helpful to him. Just wondering if a Shayla was asked regarding using Tzedaka money to sponsor this
DeleteI couldn’t agree more. Last year I took my kids to keansburg but it was considered nothing after all the other kids went to six flags. It is an absolute Shanda to keep raising the bar.
DeleteA few more organizations rented out other venues jt seems that major tzedaka money is going to pay and sponsor chol hamoed trips that the average lakewood family can't afford.
DeleteWhy are we doing this to ourselves?
Which Rav allowed tzedaka money to be spent like this that it creates jealousy all over.
Chasdei lev shouldn't advertise and show pictures and videos of gedolim coming better keep it shtill and don't shtuch out the middle class non rebbeim kids who can't afford such trips
DeleteVideos of gedolim is what brings in the money.
Delete(Look at how people pay overblown prices for posters of gedolim for their sukkah. However, none of that money goes to the gedolim or the mosdot.)
There should be an organization for middle class people to give their kids a free chalimoid trip
ReplyDeleteThat's what Roberts carnival is for. The middle class so our kids also can enjoy a Simchas Yom Tov. Thank you Mr. Roberts.
DeleteThat's for the lower class
DeleteThere should be organizations making sure the middle class can afford yt. There are so many people that can pay their bills all year but comes yt and they just don't have the means. They also don't have the means to pay for all their kids to go to day camp and sleep away camps. They're working so they have no choice about the day camps as there's no bein hazemanim for working people. Where as the rabbeim go away for a few to an igud subsidized bein hazemanim hotel. Basically the middle class working are living the poorest life style(besides the few yechidim out there in klei kodesh that are the real deal.
ReplyDeleteOr you could pay real tuition so the rabbaiem could get a real salary so they can live a normal life. Or keep paying peanuts and get monkeys for Rabbaiem. But then don't complain when your kid is destroyed by some comment a rebbi made. A rebbi who has no skills to get a real job.
ReplyDeleteSo someone comes along and realizes the value of skilled and talented Rabbaiem and yet aren't payed their true value and tries to compensate somewhat, and you who can't figure out how to earn a decent salary, is jealous?
i'm not sure where you're from but everyone in lakewood pays quite high tuitions.
DeleteActually, unless your getting rebbi or morah freebie tuition as part of your pay package (common in out of Lakewood), Lakewood tuition is cheap.
DeleteDespite losing only one business day to Yom Kippur this Tishrei, a lot of frum offices are still open straight through Chol Hamoed.
ReplyDeleteThat means an employee who wants to follow halacha and not work Chol Hamoed either has to use five vacation days or lose a week’s pay. For plenty of people, that is a big chunk of their yearly PTO just to be off on Chol Hamoed.
The halacha and poskim are pretty clear that working Chol Hamoed is assur except in certain cases. Hopefully the businesses that are open all week actually asked a shaila.
And even assuming they have a heter to be open, it seems fair for the burden not to fall entirely on the employees. In a year when almost all of the Tishrei Yom Tov days fall on weekends, maybe the employer can absorb a couple of Chol Hamoed days, rotate coverage, or meet the employees halfway instead of making them use five full PTO days.
It doesn't sound like you're will to lose pay for not working on Chol Hamoed, only your boss should be paying you for not working
DeleteSeems a bit entitled
The suggestion was that maybe the employee uses some PTO and the employer gives some days in a year when Yom Tov itself cost the business almost nothing.
DeleteThat seems more like splitting the burden than entitlement.
And again, that’s assuming the business even has a heter to be open normally on Chol Hamoed in the first place.
A business might have to provide 24/6 "support" (somehow they get away with shabbat, Yom Tov is pushing it, but chol hamoed is too much) to customers,
DeleteSorry to explain it to you bluntly but a couple with six kids earning 200k can not make ends meet if they don't get programs and reduced tuitions etc. I also hate to tell you that any rebbi and his wife are earning close to that amount or usually more with all their programs and special rebbi discounts. The middle class can not afford to pay full tuition period. The gevirim flying off all over all year long should be paying full tuition. Here are some smart guys oit there that are creating a keren olam hachinuch which will help the middle class mostly because we are the ones that get harassed from the mosdos when we can't pay our tuition. It will help the mosdos cover the cost of the rebbis kids tuition as well. Doesn't mean people who can't pay their tuitions or make yt the way the rebbi does doesn't have a normal job. Obviously you're a rebbi or being handed someone's credit card and have no idea what it actually means to pay bills.
ReplyDeleteThis is incorrect.
DeleteIf you live on the standards of your grandparents you can make it on 150k, with 180k being enough to easily and responsibly save for simchas and retirement at the same standard.
You have a social problem not an economic one.
According to the Rav Moshe Sternbuch you shouldn’t be voting in the Knesset elections either. And Mosdos should not be accepting government money . If you follow that haskafa, then voting for Eretz Hakodosh is also something to oppose. But if you ignore him when it comes to those issues , it is very different.
ReplyDeleteIt's actually not government money.
DeleteIt's income from real estate our great grandparents gave to buy property for the klal.
(Question why they just don't sell off the property, but that's another matter.)
Are there any letters, Tsuvos or public statements from Rav Moshe Shternbauch Shelita saying not to vote in Israeli political elections? Where are they?
DeleteAnyone know when mishna torah is in prospect vines?
ReplyDeleteAaand they are back the chilul hashem police are out again showing some blown garbage in the wind with kosher symbols and calling out klal yisroel on chol hamoed outings.
ReplyDeletejust disgusting coming from the frum cesspool media
There is no chiyuv to click on every post of the frum media. Or any post for that matter
DeleteGet off cnn cbn ywn fnn fake nasty news
DeleteWhen is Mishnah Torah and tonight Satmar Forest?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 1202pm yes you are right if the costs would be anywheres close to what my grandparents paid I could live like them on less than that. I'm not sure what planet you're on right now. Ask any financial advisor a young couple with a few kids needs 150k to pay their bills without any help. That's because middle class doesn't get outside help or funding. Do you know that the cost of a morah (yes because we're not eligible for chs) is approximately 600 a month ??? Rent (no a house is not affordable) is a bloody fortune. The list goes on.
ReplyDelete
