glad the Zionists saved the Satmar couple. 21 kislev soon
ReplyDeleteWas waiting for these comments
DeleteObviously, the Satmar response will be that until the Zionists started with their statemongering, there were very few issues with the arabs. Yes, life wasn't perfect but it wasn't the murderous environment we find ourselves in now.
And by Zionism I mean the Zionist congresses which started in 1897, so don't come to me with the 1929 Chevron massacre
JB,
DeleteWhy are you blaming IDF Zionist soldiers for a (possible) mistake made by their grandparents?
Why is Satmar refusing to show any hakaras hatov to soldiers who risk their lives to save Satmar Jews?
There was terrorism even before 1897.
DeleteIn fact, the yishuv had to hire (Arab watchmen, read security) after several deadly incidents in what became Meah Shearim, Yemin Moshe, other places. Even the missionary Germans in Schneller had to hire
Satmar Rebbe refused to show hakoras hatov to kastner, who saved him.
DeleteBesides, those were probably the "settlers" whom the government is trying to prosecute, who saved them. Luckily, they have Sar Ben Gvir and Sar Smotrich on their side.
If you are going by percentage of population uprising as it may sound more Jews were murdered by Arabs in the 1800s before Zionism started than in the 1900s when it was around. For example in the Tzfas pogroms of 1839 only 500 Yidden were murdered but at that point in time 500 people was five percent of the entire Jewish population of Eretz Yisroel. No one reading a non political book about life for the Yishuv Hayasan in the 1800s, even if written from the perspective of the Yishuv Hayason itself, would get the impression that the Arabs back then were the great Tzadikim that the anti-Zionist literature today tells us that they were.
DeleteHowever you look at it it was quite rosy compared to blood soaked Europe.... From pre-war all the way back to the Middle ages it was bloodshed pogroms expulsions almost constantly . Post 1897 matters definitely got worse and there's no arguing about that
Delete4:20
DeleteI'm not sure where you get your facts from, but no 500 people were killed in that pogrom, which was in 1834 not 1839.
It was a huge pillaging and maybe rape, but not many lost their lives. BTW the Bas Ayin was caught and beaten in that pogrom
There was a massive earthquake in tzfas in 1837 which decimated the community and most left for Yerushalayim

DeleteThe Arabs were always going to be erratic, but under firm control eg the British it would be real nice. Then concurrently with the Mandate Zionism came & turned them both against us
DeleteSure the British Mandate (which never intended to be permanent in any case) protected Jews from Arab attacks. Over thirty years ago when it was still possible to be a level headed , Yorey Shomayim and a member of the Neturei Karta at the same time I was speaking to a Neturei Karta member about the Mizrachi claim that even in Meah Shearim most people celebrated the establishment of the state of Israel . To my surprise he confirmed it. He told me that the next day in shul other than him and one other person everyone else thought it was a good development. Not because they were Zionists but rather because they all hated the British. I'm sure you never heard this story but he remembers an elderly man in Meah Shearim who left his house after curfew to use the outhouse in the courtyard being shot dead by the British "by mistake" He also said that most of his class in Eitz Chaim ended up Mizrachi or worse because of how bad and hopeless it seemed under the British. Whereas the Zionists symbolized hope for a better future. And remember this is coming from someone who was a NK member.
DeleteIt's not news that Meah Shearim was a mix, at best the hard core NK under R Amram Blau were a tiny minority.
DeleteThe original location for Mercaz Harav was in MS, many Yerushalmi identified with Mizrachi among them RSZA father
And the reason for the classes in Eitz Chaim going off had nothing to do with the British, it was due to the extreme poverty among the Yerushalmi (I think it was R TP Frank 2 of his children starved to death) and the hope that things will be better with the zionists.
It's a good question what would have happened if not for Zionism. Probably Abdullah of Jordan would have taken over after the mandate was over, they weren't too bad they allowed for safe passage for the Old City civilians and the Palmach fighters were returned after the war was over
If Abdullah of Jordan was a viable choice than when the Old City surrendered the hardcore kanoim who lived there would have accepted his offer of citizenship and stayed there. The surrender terms required that he offer citizenship to those who want to stay. The Jordanians repeatedly announced the offer on loudspeakers to those who were fleeing. No one took it. Apparently even the NK doesn't believe that screaming to the world we hate the Zionists will keep them safe when it's their own lives that are at stake
Deleteשוואכא ראיה,
DeleteThe Neturei Karta didn't want to be cut off from the larger Jewish community, they preferred to live under the Zionist where they would have access to kosher food.
There was always the option of the Meah Shearim area defecting to the Jordanians and Ben Gurion knew that, that is why he gave concessions to the frum which were totally out of character, he didn't want to give them a reason to jump ship
Yeshiva Etz Chaim was still going strong in the 1950s, RIZM was the RY. His SIL from Kletzk/Lakewood succeeded him as RY.
DeleteIn fact, it still exists today, but I assume that's only cause it's a big moneymaker for somebody (or shall I say, some family.)

DeleteMore the same False & ignorant.
Many NK wanted ! to stay under Transjordan or the UN.They appealed to the UN.They appeared in front of the committee.
BenGurion annexed Jerusalem against the original resolution of the UN.Specifically so the Yishuv Hayashan can't be independent from his collective control.Though he & Shaltiel wouldn't care enough to save the Old city unlike Etzel & Lechi .
The UN went along with it.
BG's deal with the religious had [almost] nothing with the old yishuv.
RTZP children starved under the Turks.
It was originally much better under the British & it should have been much better, but Weizman blocked all funding from going to the old Yishuv
If the Brits were bad how come such notable religious like Dr.Wallach,Anne Edith Landau,Harry Goodman were so in favor of continuing the Mandate?!
13 days later than 60 days after the תקופה and counting . .
ReplyDeleteAnd your point is? Do you want to make an actual halachik argument?
DeleteYou should see what Reb Moshe writes about those who claim we are using the wrong tekufah to make the cheshbon of ותן טל ומטר. Hint - it is nothing complimentary

Delete@ anon 12:45pm Thank you for the mareh makom. I found it אגרות משה או"ח ח"ד סימן יז
DeleteNo no no, can't be, did those heretical Shmad IDF Apikorsim save a Satmar couple???
ReplyDeleteIf they were visiting the shetachim they're probably closeted tziyonim themselves
DeleteMy father drove me from Yerushalayim to Cheifa using that route.
DeleteOf course, that was 1971, when Israelis (actually American Jews with Israeli rental license plates) were kings. As it should be.
If im not mistaken, the uzda rav was reb chaim stiens shver
ReplyDeleteCorrect she was a sister to rebbetzin Stein
DeleteI found the news on VIN. It did not say that the IDF saved them directly. What happened was the driver called the IDF for help and they then in turn called the Palestinian Authority. In the article, Chaim Goldberger, the Satmar chassid , stated he was impressed by the professional conduct of the PA. Btw, it stated that the Arabs who surrounded their car were filming them.
ReplyDeleteThe IDF did save them even according to that version. There is a reason they didn't call the PA police themselves. As per the Oslo Accords the IDF is not allowed to enter those parts of the West Bank without Palestinian permission. They can and do coordinate security with the PA in these type of situations.
DeleteLock up 6 years speach- plain DUMB
ReplyDeleteMaybe the IDF soldier that saved the Satmar couple was the Satmar Rebbe's grandson! Lol
ReplyDeletehilarious. lol
DeleteHow much cash payoffs did Tzahal have to pay the PLO for saving them?
DeleteWill Satmar reimburse the Israeli government?
Who are these Rabbis and stop quoting their lies that the army doesn't Shmad u
ReplyDeleteIt Does
Fact!
As all my cousins are fry now from going to army!!
Where were they holding before enlisting? Shtark learning three sdarim a day? If yes why did they close the gemara to enlist?
DeleteWhy does the speaker have to mention students that are weak? plenty of chashuve bochurim drink and drive
ReplyDeleteWhy does this guy say its the weaker bochurim only that have drinking problems? That is so NOT TRUE! Many " chashuve bochurim that have this problem, and BTW many Yungerlite!!!
