The Lakewood Board of Fire Commissioners will meet tonight and adopt the budget for 2019. The Fire budget last year was at $6,606,402. a 33 percent increase over the previous year.
The meeting will take place at fire house 733 Cedarbridge Avenue, Lakewood, New Jersey. the board will vote to adopt the budget and establish a date for the public hearing as well as for the fire elections next year in February.
The regular scheduled meeting will follow some items on the agenda:
-Awarding Contract to Winner Ford for a 2020 Ford F-250 Pickup Truck in an Amount of $45,473.00
-Award a Contract for the Purchase of Firehouse Furniture to This End Up Furniture in an Amount Not to Exceed $11,684.20
-Motion to Increase the Annual Post Duty Refreshment Stipends Issued to each Fire Company from $2,400.00 to $3,000.00 per Company Annually
-Resolution Awarding a Contract for Reconstruction of a Portion of the Concrete Slab at the Lakewood Fire Station 74-1 Located at 800 Monmouth Avenue, in an Amount of $107,000.00
-Authorizing Reappointment of a Public Agency Compliance Officer; o Resolution
-Authorizing Public Referendum Question on 2020 Fire District Election Ballot
-Resolution Setting the Date, Time and Place of Annual Fire District Election
- Resolution Reaffirming the Fire Prevention Program, Coordinator and Stipend Amount
-Resolution to Make Application to the DCA for Financing Approval on the Purchase of Two Engine Pumpers
-Motion to Fix January 17, 2020, as the Deadline for Submitting Petitions for the Position of Commissioner on the 2020 Election Ballot
It's high time to combine the paid and the volunteer fire departments into one unified fire fighting organization. As the town grows and the infrastructure continues to fall short the wait time before a fire is actually begun to be fought seems to be rising. all the manpower has to be on there one Central unified command to response time and the response level has to be reversed. Response time has to go down the initial response level has to go way up.
ReplyDeleteAs the traffic in the town has become steadily worse, we can not affors the additional time it takes the volunteers to get to the fire station. We need full time paid firefighters and Yes that cost more money!

We are paying mire taxes to help subsidize all the new construction that inly our of towners can afford. Ultimately we are funding our own demise. Only benefits are to the resltors, builders and thise moving here from brooklyn.
