Lakewood charter school approved

APP- New charter schools for children of the Lakewood, Asbury Park and Neptune school districts have won the state’s approval to proceed with plans to open next September. Ocean Academy Charter School in Lakewood and College Achieve Greater Asbury Park Charter School in Asbury Park were among four applications approved Friday by the New Jersey Department of Education.

There's no debating, Night seder comes first

The highly anticipated presidential debate took place last night. The many yeshiva bochurim who are following the presidential race do not have access to radio or the web and rely on the frum news info lines for the latest updates and current events. FNW phone line based in Lakewood (Frum News Wire) is were many turn to for all the latest political news and audio soundbites. Initially FNW was going to air the debate live, but than they notified the audience that there was a change in schedule and it did not air live. The result, hours and hours of Torah was learned during seder in preparation for the yom hadin.
 There no question who was the real winner last night It was neither Donald Trump Nor Hillary Clinton.

Zmanim for Lakewood area may be different for Jackson, other areas

At this time of year mosdos send out magnets with zmanim for hadlokas neiros and Shkia, sof zman Krias shema etc. As the community grows and residents moved to neighboring towns the zmanim may not be accurate depending on your location.
Jackson is more west than Lakewood, shkias hachama or the sunset in Jackson is 35 seconds later than the sunset in Lakewood. According to My Zmanim shkia in Lakewood this week as at 6:51:23 and in Jackson its 6:52:00. Toms River is on par with Lakewood even though it is a drop more East. 
 However its hard to tell how far inside Jackson the line is drawn. Those living closer to the Lakewood border are more East and therefore are in the same area.  If you live deeper inside Jackson thats where it can make a difference. Perhaps closer to six flags is where the late shkia is. Overall its good to be machmir anyways a minute earlier on erev shabbos or 2 minutes later on Motzei shabbos like this you avoid all issues.

Parents ask for chizuk in hopes to get their son into school

Its not easy. Not everyone had the right connections and pull to get their child into a school that will best suit their child's needs. In one recent case a parent reached out yesterday to friends in an online forum asking for help and chizuk in hopes of finding the right school for their son.
"We are trying to find a for my son who was in Yesodos (formerly oros yisroel) and most of his teachers and therapists feel he is ready for a mainstream school. My son is 7.5 and second grade. All the schools you recommended would not even speak with us, besides for telling us that their resources are only for their existing students who need them, they are not willing to take in new kids for this. We have zero influence, pull, or connections in those schools. 
I'm feeling very discouraged and don't know where to go from here.

Emergency Campaign! After A Devastating Fire, The Minyan Girls Is Rebuilding

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, a fire ripped through the chill - the Minyan Girls' Headquarters in Jackson destroying everything in its path. For years, this building served as a home for dozens of local girls providing them with a refuge of warmth, care and compassion. This home always had an open door when most other doors in their lives were locked. This home was a lifeline of assistance and encouragement so desperately needed. But now, all that lies is a smoldering pile of rubble and ash. One girl tearfully told us, “The chill house was a home to me, where I can feel safe and loved. The house has so many good memories filled with care and kindness. I'll really miss it.”
