Rav Yisroel Salanter started mussar for people in general, baalei batim. I don't believe that what is stated in the first clip is correct, that he pushed it into yeshivos. That happened later through others, IIRC.

DeleteFor the last 19 or so years of his life reb yisrael was in kenigsberg and had precious little communication with his students All of it recorded in the yisrael r yisrael passed away in 1883 slabodka found it in 1882 It's highly unlikely that r yisrael had anything to do with it possibly he inspired it but you would need proof for that the alter was a great person and had the shoulders to make changes however it is not clear if he promoted or allowed it de facto and didn't oppose itrealizing that it was the only way forward. His emphasis on gadlius haadom has nothing to do with hairstyles.
DeleteThe Alter absolutely promoted it as did his talmidim. Rav Dovid Liebowitz, from Gedolei Slabodka, would blast a talmid for wearing a black suit.

Tell me some unique non controversial derhoibener advice the CC gave his grandchildren that doesn't sound like it is coming from a farbissner mentsch who spends too much time online or in the coffee room. If you are privy to such info you should know some of that too
DeleteThe CC was not denegrating Chassidim but wanted to protect the Litvish mesorah. Same with Rav Aharon in Lakewood. Same with Rav Yaakov ZTL. One visit to Lalewood today shows how prophetic their concvens were.

Was this great grand child there when it happened? A guy who denies the stories told by those who were around the CC but them confirms a story with no tracible source would be evidence to me that it is NOT true.. (It is only confirmed by those who distort his legacy...) Reb M Shurkin writes in Meged Givos Olam that his father who had learned by the CC said that the consensus of all of the Talmidim of the CC was that R YM Yosher's sefer about the CC was a lot more reliable and accurate source of information about the CC than his family. I'll stop here other than noting that in halacha talmidim have a lot more credibility than family members

Deletehe should just not visit his in laws, the gehenom of listening to lashon hara is worse than making them have bad feelings, what if they cooked on shabbos?
