Seminary Acceptance Letters sent, uncertainty Remains Re; Vaccines, Deposits

The Seminaries in Eretz Yisroel sent acceptance letters yesterday to girls in 12th grade who applied for the 2021-202 school year. Parents have to sign up and register right away as well as put down a heft deposit. The question is will the seminaries even be open next year lots can change over the next 5 months.

Of concern to some parents is the policy regarding vaccinations as they are fearful of vaccinating their young daughters with limited data available to side effects. Will Israel demand that only those vaccinated may enter the country via a verified green passport will seminaries demand it? will the airlines demand it?

Parents are also worried about putting down hefty deposits with no guarantee that the seminaries will be fully open. The seminaries have so far not given any information to address these concerns and parents are pressured to make a decision.

  2. Please stop fear mongering 'of concern... '
Trust Daas Torah, Rav Chaim has clearly said that everyone should get the vaccine.

  3. And this stellar reporting is based on what exactly?

I work in a high school and parents have been calling me all day and night to get their daughters into seminaries. I haven't detected this concern at all.

  4. @9:57, that's because first the parents just wanted to get their daughters into seminaries. Then they would decide what to do. Now that they have to make the decision, these issues are on their minds.

  5. fake news; one can bring up valid issues in a reasonable manner , i know first hand that the negotiating & pull for acceptance in seminaries is at an all time high . there is no reason to think that next year will be worse than this year, this year was very tough on the girls & staff and somehow klal yisroel pulls thru- am kshey oref
whether sem abroad vs local is good for your daughter ?fair question, or the side effects of having gone to sem is worthy of analysis

  7. 'limited data regarding side effects'
Sounds like the propaganda of the antivaxxer brigade.
Fact is, there is a ton of data regarding side effects. The side effects are extremely minimal, and the concerns are ridiculous. Side effects of coronavirus are frequent, sometimes deadly, and a public concern. Side effects of the vaccine are extremely rare, not life threatening, and an issue for a tiny minority of people.
Those who tried to keep Shuls open under dangerous circumstances due to (non-Torah based) beliefs that the mitzva will protect should have no issue taking a vaccine in order to be able to learn Torah.

    1. Because it's not your newly acquired version of the torah, doesnt make any more true than the Christian who met me in home depot and told me that Isiah 53 proves that Jesus is god.

  8. My daughter is in seminary now in Israel. I asked her if her difficulties this year made going to seminary in Israel worth it. She is very happy there. She wouldn't trade her experience for a seminary in the USA. The most difficult part is girls missing siblings weddings/family simchos. Otherwise, it's less trips and more warmth. Seminary recommended but did not enforce vaccines.

    2. I live in EY and indeed the first few months were difficult for many girls. However things have opened up recently and we have had seminary girls for shabbos for the last few weeks. Generally they seem extremely happy; no different from previous years
