Roshei Yeshiva in the U.S. Issue Strong Letter to American Bochurim in Eretz Yisroel
Leading Roshei Yeshiva in the United States have issued a strong letter directed at American bochurim currently learning in Eretz Yisroel, urging them not to attend the Chol Hamoed concert sponsored by the Eretz Hakodesh slate of the World Zionist Organization (WZO).
The letter refers to the event as a grave chillul Hashem and expresses strong condemnation, echoing the position of the Gedolei Eretz Yisroel, who have already called on the public to avoid any association or participation in venues connected with these resha'im.
Harav Aharon Feldman, shlit”a, Rosh Yeshiva of Ner Yisroel in Baltimore, previously stated that Eretz Hakodesh has no authority to represent yeshiva bochurim in any capacity.

funny things to be matriach roshei yeshiva to sign againta a non exsisting event
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's non-existing since they heard the letter will be coming out and they won't have The clientele which they are looking for
ReplyDeleteMoreover, Eretz HaKodesh is a non-existent problem
ReplyDeleteThe big issues EH confront are at the forefront
DeleteBeing that the Chofetz Chaim is quoted as the one of who they are following it is fair to ask, can anyone imagine the Chofetz Chaim writing a similar letter over a similar issue using a similar style? Did he ever actually do so? He published only one letter against Zionists and that was about a specific idea they were promoting. (that nobody still promotes today) And even then his son wrote that his father told him that he had not yet 100% decided to publish it. The people in charge of his correspondence sent it to the newspapers without his explicit instructions to do so.
ReplyDeleteNot a fair comparison This letter was probably not self composed or even their own initiative . Someone else probably wrote it and asked them to sign it. The CC probably never signed any letters that he had no part in composing.
DeleteOpen up the kol kisvei chofetz chaim. Be honest.
DeleteThe Chafetz Chaim did not sign other people's letters. We are all the poorer for this newfangled mahalach of people signing what is placed in front of them. The responsible ones don't sign such letters. So we have walls of placards signed by irresponsible people.
DeleteI've never seen any letter in kol kisvei chofetz chaim that expressed itself in similar terms about similar issues. Even the famous 1956 kol koreh against joining the Synagogue Council of America is super mild compared to this. It doesn't come anywhere close to referring to the Orthodox groups who were in it as "rashayim" or demand that you stay away from any independent event they organize.
DeleteAs much as these people de y it and try to rewrite history, Eretz Hakodesh followed other gedolim. To call them reshaim is a gross chillul Hashem
ReplyDeleteWe an anonymous poster here with more Daas Torah than the Roshei Yeshiva. Rav Yisroel Salanter said it's asur to be a Lamed Vovnik in our time because the Klal needs you. Please reveal who you are!
ReplyDeleteMeet me at the bridge over the lake by Route 9 on your way to vasikin on Hoshana Rabba. I will reveal myself there and give you all the Daas Torah you want. On any topic.
DeleteWho is the guy with more Daas Torah than the Roshei Yeshiva who realized the need to write this letter, composed it and then brought it to them to sign?
DeleteEvery comment here is anonymous, not just mine.
ReplyDeleteI can assure you that I knew gedolim who were bigger than all the signers of this letter.
And they would never have used the words used here.
When was the last time a letter came out which the signatory is actually stood behind it when asked? When was the last time a letter came out and serious people actually felt The need to follow? Why is it with all the respect we have for the "leadership" no one actually feels the need to follow their directives....... Just wondering out loud
