Iran Israel Updates Monday June 15

- Senior US official, in a briefing to reporters: "We signed the agreement with Iran. The President and Vice President signed it. The Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf also signed it

- Axios, a senior US official stated that an Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon is not a condition of the agreement with Iran and that if Hezbollah attacks, Israel retains "the right to self-defense and to respond."

- Trump: "Hopefully, we can resolve the situation in Lebanon as well. Because it's something that never ends. We need to talk to Hezbollah about this"

- Offficial: There will be a signing ceremony on Friday. Vance, Witkoff and Kushner will be there. We have direct contact with officials in the Iranian system, something that hasn't happened in 47 years. Therefore, we understand what they want. The Iranians are agreeing to concessions they did not agree to in the past, and therefore we are agreeing to consider steps we did not agree to in the past"

-Response by Iran’s Foreign Ministry to Israel’s claim they will not withdraw from Lebanon:

– We know that Israel never takes any action without consultation and direct coordination with America Therefore, we hold America directly responsible if it fails to force Israel to submit to its obligations as part of the MoU, with necessary consequences.

- JD Vance on Iran: We are now speaking directly to the Iranian system. We have some good relationships there. We are not passing messages through backchannels anymore; we are actually talking to them. When you talk to them, you figure out what's real, what's fake, what they're serious about, and what they're not serious about.

- National Security Minister Ben-Gvir: The security of the citizens of the State of Israel comes above all. A sovereign state is not a subcontractor for any superpower. It is not obligated to agreements that seal its ability to defend its people against existential threats.

We must not act under external pressure but rather from our own conscience. Just as a person is obligated to do what is necessary to protect their home, the State of Israel is obligated to do everything to protect its citizens.

- qDefense Minister Israel Katz vowed Monday that the Israeli military will remain in southern Lebanon and warned that if Iran strikes, it will be hit “with full force,” promising that Israel will resist any pressure after the US and Iran agreed a deal to end the war that also reportedly includes a commitment to end hostilities in Lebanon.

- Iran claims: The U.S. acknowledged the fact that Iran will be able to collect fees for "maritime services" for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz starting in 60 days, under the service name: "Safety services, navigation, environmental protection and insurance, and using these revenues to promote the country's economic development"
