There was also use of the name "Shinena".

Large signs were put up in various neighborhoods Brooklyn, and elsewhere in English, Yiddish. Massive street signs, posters, paper ads. A massive, expensive campaign. The suspicion is that Chabad Lubavitch is behind it, since they are behind Rambam Yomi in general, and they are having a siyum and start this week. They are hiding their connection to it to try to attract people who would be repelled by knowledge of a connection to the Habad sect. That is my hunch based on years of experience.

  5. Confirmed it's chabad.

  6. This is how chabad operates they hide behind these campaigns trying to missionize klal yisroel

  7. Ya it's chabad, just like the yehi ohr chanukah menorah campaign they just ran pretending hiding their chabadness, and just like the bring your lulav on chol hamoed trips they just ran.

    Why do they hide?

    1. Hold on here,

When they want each action and idea to be examined on its own merits, without the political and questionable parts of chabad, that can be a good thing and come from a good place.

I'm not taking a position of pro or anti these things. Just pointing it out. Hopefully everyone has a rebbe to discuss if this is a good idea for them, or what is a good idea.

    2. You need to analyze any association with a group which uses subterfuge and deceit as a matter of policy. They are trying to Corral you in without you even realizing what you're actually doing very disrespectful and sooner or later the world gets wiser and realizes it. And that is why despite their illustrious heritage they are shunned by most of klal yisrael just those who have issues with their philosophy.

    3. Exactly, Rabbi Schneerson repeatedly tried to get all of klal yisroel yisroel to follow his "perek rambam yomi" initiative, and it was flat out rejected by the gedolim of all camps. Why do we need to relitigate a long closed argument?

    4. plenty of Litvish amud or perek Rambam yomi around.

Qlso Lubavitch is pretty insistent on publicizing their activities.
Besides their ego, it brings in money.

    5. No, there aren't plenty of Litvish amud or perek rambam yomi around. In fact, there are virtually none. Maybe some people figure it is a good idea for themselves, but only privately.

  9. As much as I dislike Chabad it irks me to admit that cloak and dagger rambam yomi campaigns are the smallest issue in the history of koala yisroel.

  10. Rav Shach spoke publicly and wrote letters against the limud of Rambam Yomi as it had no Mesorah and would lead to people not learning gemara rashi tosfos
He also said that people would use it as halacha to pasken against the shulchan aruch

There's a letter from Rav Shach about Rambam yomi

    3. We all know how Harav Shach Zatza”l felt about chabad. But let’s not forget that many gedolim felt otherwise (Rav Moshe almost became rosh yeshiva there). Rav Yaakov, Rav Moshe, Rav Gedaliya Schor, Rav Nachum, Rav Avigdor Miller, Rav Hirschprung, the Pnei Menachem, Rav Chatzkel Abramsky, Rav Yushe Ber Soloveitcik zecher tzadikim levrocha all had great respect for the rebbe, although they didn’t agree with everything.

    4. None of them liked chabad, they all though the rebbe's campaigns were nuts. They had some respect for him as a person. They all with the exception of rabbi miller were mostly out of commission in the 1980s when the rambam project was out forth.

We are not discussing the rebbe, the topic is the rambam project.

Ps Rav Moshe and Rav Yakov in private did not respect the Rebbe.

    5. Rav Nachum? Rav Chatzkel Abramsky??! You are greatly misinformed

    6. none,
Yes, but from a distance and at an earlier stage. Had they been around and healthy later on they would have turned away in disgust. Guaranteed.

    7. Daf yomi and "Mishna Yomit" have no messorah either.

There are several tshuvot in Igrot Moshe to / from the LR.

    8. One famous teshuva. After the LR offered to give Rav Moshe a pair of rabenu tam tefilin, Rav Moshe responds with a teshuva how to write them. Please tell us what the remain several teshuvos are.

Mishna and gemara were always learned in shuls as part of chevra mishna and chevra shas groups. Rambam was not.

My comment was meant to convey absolute disbelief that rav nachum or rav abramsky held positively of chabad. I refuse to believe that as even the previous generation of our gedolim were aware of chabads problems.
Certainly I agree that later on they would have been all the more disgusted

    10. When Rav Nachum was in USA for medical treatment, he went to the Rebbe for a bracha.

    13. RYK was extremely worried already in 1983 about where he predicted Lubavitch was heading. And he warned if the trajectory keeps going and mushroom further we're going to have to go out and mount a world confrontation against them.
He wasn't alive to follow through as to when his prediction would come to pass.

  11. So learn Rambam if you want . Who cares who is behind it!? you almost sound like a you tuber trying to find some scandal. Learn Ramabam gezunt hait

  12. Please stop this stupid arguing. No, Rambam doesn’t need askomos. No, learning Rambam doesn’t turn you into Chanadnik, ch”v. Yes, you’re allowed to learn Rambam yomi, but if you’re chickening out just ask your LOR. How can you understand the sugiya without Rambam?

    1. Wrong question. The correct question is, how can you understand the rambam without the sugya?

  13. Learning Rambam is good. I’m certain he doesn’t check who published the poster.

  14. Chabad trying to entice regular yeshiva bochurim to join their stupidity of rambam yomi with prizes and raffles. Same as the Rebbe did with dollars and chabad does with lag baomer carnivals.

  15. Rav Shach was much more excited about the learning of 9 blatt a year in Yeshivos.
He wrote letters to the Roshei Yeshiva who totally ignored him. So much for Daas Torah. And does anyone think that Rav Aharon would be happy about the proliferation of Daf Yomi Shiurim in Lakewood?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Rav Aron covered around 2 blatt a week. What happened with the mesora??? What about listening to Rav Shteinaman and Rav Shach to move in learning? The biggest shame is that there are mesivats that kvetch and kvetch adn the bochurim nenver get to actually have a sipuk of covering ground. AS long as you are aginst Lubavitch you are good?? So twisted!
