- The Red Bank man charged in a drunk driving crash that killed a woman and an 11-year-old girl in Lakewood this week, is in the United States illegally, according to federal immigration records. - Giyus: A gathering of leading rabbonim and roshei yeshiva from across the chareidi world including prominent figures from the Litvish, Sephardic, and Chassidic sectors taking place this evening in Maaleh HaChamisha for a major conference on the IDF draft. The gathering opened with the recitation of the Thirteen middos

- Monmouth and Ocean County's homeless population increased by 21% in 2025, according to a study released July 29, in a sign that the region's soaring housing costs are beyond the reach of more residents. Officials this summer have taken steps to clear out homeless encampments that have emerged: in woods off of Route 70 on the edge of Lakewood; and in a municipal parking garage in Toms River.

- Giyus: Rav Yitzchok Yosef shlita launched a public condemnation of the new proposed draft law and the political figures behind it, asserting that the legislation is fundamentally against halachah and lamenting what he described as the betrayal of Torah values by chareidi representatives in the Knesset. He recalled how his father, Rav Ovadia Yosef zt”l, wept over the threat of forced enlistment of bnei Torah
Rav Yosef criticized the heads of the chareidi parties for the understandings reached between the chareidi factions and Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman Yuli Edelstein, warning of dire implications. “Who knows what kind of law will emerge? One of the great rabbanim of our generation told me they want to write into law that all yeshiva students are technically obligated to enlist but receive a deferment. That’s against the Rambam! Will our representatives vote for a law that goes against halachah, against the Rambam?”

-A Story of Hashgacha Pratis – Lakewood, Last Thursday
It was one of those in-between days school was over, but camp hadn't started yet. A Lakewood mother wanted to do something fun with her children, so she decided to take them bowling. When they arrived, however, she was told the entire bowling alley had been rented out by a day camp. Not giving up, she tried another bowling location again, no luck. It too had been rented out to a camp.
She then decided to go boating at the lake, but once there, they were told it was too busy and another camp had taken up all the boats. Feeling a bit defeated, she figured she'd treat the kids to slush and then stop by a toy store to lift their spirits.
Instead of going to a store near her home in the oak and Vine neighborhood, she chose to drive a bit further to the  a Toys  store at  a durther shopping plaza

After leaving the toy store, her young son ran ahead to what he thought was their car to check if his slush had melted but he mistakenly ran to a different vehicle that looked just like theirs.
When the mother caught up to him, she realized he had gone to the wrong car. As she approached the car he had opened, she was shocked to see a small baby inside sweating heavily from the heat. The baby had been accidentally left behind.

The mother immediately called a nearby supermarket to see if anyone recognized the license plate. A short while later, the baby's mother came rushing out. She was beside herself, realizing in horror what had happened, and thanked the woman profusely for saving her child's life. She explained that she always double-checks and takes precautions not to forget a child and usually locks her car too, but somehow, this time she forgot the baby and the car had remained unlocked as well.

In the end, it was clear: what seemed like a day full of frustrating detours and failed plans was really a chain of events orchestrated by Hashgacha Pratis, leading this mother to the right place at the right time to save a child's life.(Kol Mevaser)

-A letter from  some Lakewood rabbonim regarding the  Bais Havaad in response to the kol Korei issued against it by gedolei haposkim. The rabbonim write that while they have no intention to get involved or take sides being that the BD has agreed to have the matter of heter kehuna reviewed by a agreed upon bais din therefore they will resume using the services of the bais Havaaad for all matters including gittin and finances. Interestingly the kol korei still stands and the poskim and Rav Elya Ber Wachtfogel shlita have not retracted their original signatures

    1. Similar to what they did to my MSA, they switched clauses after I had agreed

  2. In the future, all baby-car-seats should be placed IN THE FRONT for local driving. While it is slightly safer for children to be in the second row, that only applies to highway driving where a HIGH speed head-on collision could (theoretically) cause the front row to become pressed into the engine.

For local driving, there is no excuse for a car seat to be in the back.

Additionally, the baby feels more comfortable when he can see his mother.

Please notify others of this point.

    1. The air bag in the front passenger seat is a huge danger for a baby seat, and it can be triggered by a relatively low-speed collision. There's a reason it's illegal to put a baby seat in the front.

      Delete
    2. It's mainly a problem because of air bags. Any short people who sit in the front should be disabling their air bags anyhow!

In the olden days before air bags, babies were in the front seat, and I doubt anyone ever forgot a baby in a car.

    3. 95% of cars are new enough that they don't have the airbag issue. In NY, it is legal for kids to be in front. If it is illegal, a special fund should be established to pay for any tickets.

      Delete
    4. Seat sensors, which turned off the airbag if a child is in front, have been in cars since the year 2,000, so if you car is old, you should manually turn them off, if possible.

About 5 kids die every year from airbags, although MOST of these cases involve reat facing carseats, or kids totally unrestrained. About 40 kids die every year from overheating.

      Delete
    5. Do you know how to read statistics? Only 5 kids die every year from airbags because it is illegal for kids to be in the front seat… watch how quickly that statistic changes once kids are in the front.

  3. The major league rabbonim in Lakewood dis not sign this new letter. They went shopping for names picking up some minor leaguers who can't control their own shuls yet go against Rav EB

    2. Thats because rebw people put extremely strong pressure on them not to sign even though they hold of bhv. The fact is most gittin done in lakewood the last month were done in bhv with their tactic approval.

    3. The BHV mafia put strong pressure on rabbonim to dare sign against them, a rav going to a chasuna was confronted to not sign there's many more respected rabbonim who support the kol Korei but are scared from signing

    4. This comment is a bizui for all those that signed. You need to do TESHUVA by Rosh Hashanah

    5. When the Beis Havaad explain their position, they are a mafia.
When the anti-BD people collect signatures, they are 'Gedolim'.

      Funny how things work out.

    6. The major league Rabbanim in Lakewood include Reb Shmuel Meir Katz, Reb Henoch Shachar, and Reb Yisroel Reisman. They deal with many issues in town.
      They all signed.
The Talmid Chacham of town is the strongest signature here.

This letter is a ganme changer.

    7. Rav Dovid Cohen paskened. He is America's greatest posek, and one of the greatest geonim in the world. Nothing more need be said

  4. The yeshivaleit in lkwd will not be swayed at all by this new letter the rabbonin are signing it for the balei batim who daven in their shuls to bring in more cases to the bhv.

  5. "The kol Korea still stands" that as long as they don't agree to explain the heter to a 3rd party, they can't act as a beis din. But now that they DID agree then their position is reinstated. They do not need to wait for a retraction from R' Elya Ber etc. But it would be nice if the signatories would keep their side of the deal and retract.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Thats not what the kol korei stipulated. They must first come forward and have the diyun, only then will they decide on retracting

This is all new spin..but there's stronger letters coming out

  6. we finally have a consensus from the frum besides the Dati Leumi who while frum are misguides that it is assur 100% to join the Zionist shmad army. this is just showing us we must NOT celebrate Zionist victories as their only goal is to stop Yahadus.

  8. It's quite clear the issue REB has with BH extends to many in the rabbinate. But he is too a refined person to come out publicly against individuals, well רצון יראיו יעשה. They announced themselves! I can just see in my mind's eye REB saying יא זיי האב איך גימיינט

    ReplyDelete
  9. I am not one to rate Rabbanim I don't know.
But I have had some experience with Reb Abba Brudny and I have no doubt that he is not swayed by anyone. I also have no doubt that he would not sign unless he knew 100% what he is talking about.

There are others about whom these statements are not true.

  11. This whole story is making me dizzy.
A reputable Beis Din paskens something.
Some people disagree with the pesak.
They try to publicize their complaints, attempting to force the Beis Din to come to an outside tribunal.
Beis Din asks Daas Torah from the greatest Talmid Chacham in town and is advised to ignore the complaints.
Complainers collect more signatures, and eventually threaten the Beis Din with public closure if they don't comply.
Beis Din resists outside forces and sticks to Daas Torah they received.
Complainers get their signatures and publicize that the Beis Din is no good.
Rabbanim and Gedolim sign a paper pushing back against that Kol Koreh.

As far as I can see, the Beis Din is standing up to mighty pressure, and not allowing extraneous issues to veer it from its course. They did not change their minds through threats and intimidation.

If I had a case to judge or a gett to take care of, they would be the first ones to use. They have proven their mettle, they have shown that they will not be bullied.

    2. My thoughts exactly. And R' Dovid Cohen, a great expert in Shulchan Aruch (and everything else) agrees with the Beis Havaad's pask, as does Ravbbi Furst of Chicago. The combined experience and yedios of these two outweigh the others by a longshot.

Of course, he got a cushy job, but may very well have been important, we're not not what, just intelligence.
His father may have cried, but he should have cried over the need to serve.

  13. A lot of these signers are very Ehrlich and well meaning and choshuv. But that doesn't mean you get involved with a very controversial pelsak about being matir a psul yuchsin, which needs really gedoilei haposkim. Most of these signers are really not in the league of even having an educated opinion about that.

But wouldn't and haven't stood up for any serious issue facing klal yisrael . But are making a stand now ostensibly for the sake of peace. Obviously their letter won't cause any peace or closure to this issue but fuel more division sinaas chinam machlokes and bizui talmidei chachomim on both sides.

    1. Many people are whinging about peace and shalom.

We need to understand the real meaning.

When the anti BHV people say shalom, they mean, "listen to us or we will bully you some more."

When the pro BHV people say shalom, they mean, "stop. Just stop. Stop this whole thing already and things will quieten down."

  26. This is a brilliant smoke and mirrors, most of the signatories are just the attesting to the knowledge and usefulness of the bh some take the authority to say that the BH have complied with the letter demanding they submit to a review panel despite the fact that they we're not the ones who signed on that letter. One of two things either the signatories were aware how this letter was going to be presented as supporting the BH and and are attacking r e b , but giving themselves some Way out so that they can claim they only meant to write about the usefulness or that they have complied and they are fooling you or they were fooled in any case this letter supposedly supports the contentious heter but after careful reading it doesn't. What a brilliant move by RSK

  27. Not fair some Rabbonim get a little box and some only their signature. Does it depend on how smart they are, if they wear a frock on Shabbos, or they wear a frock everyday, they wear a up hat with their frock, have a nice long beard, only trim it that u can't tell it's trimmed, sit up front , wrote a Sefer even though nobody looks at it, drives s old yeshivish car, drives s shtaty new car, has his wife drive him, had a gabay to drive him, etc etc Lol

  28. The affiliation Rabbonim have with the BHV is that they appreciate the work they do and advise their people to use the BHV.
