Central Ave Traffic Woes: Uncovering the Hidden Agenda (Submitted)
The ongoing construction on Central Avenue has transformed our daily commutes into prolonged ordeals. Notably, the evening closures between Sunset Road and New Central Avenue, projected to last for two weeks, have been implemented with minimal communication from township officials.
Compounding the issue, the recent changes at Central and Caranetta have only exacerbated congestion, adding to our daily frustrations.
But here’s the bigger issue: our local representatives have been completely silent—and that silence speaks volumes. Many believe this mess is tied to a highly controversial housing development that’s quietly being supported behind the scenes. The township appears to be prioritizing infrastructure for that project, while letting the rest of us suffer the consequences.
What's more alarming is that our local representatives seem to prioritize the interests of developers, daycare owners, and nursing home operators over the needs of residents. Instead of addressing these pressing traffic issues, they divert attention to less critical matters, like debating scooter bans.
This situation underscores the urgent need for **ward-based representation** in our township. Currently, officials are elected at-large, meaning they aren't accountable to specific neighborhoods. By transitioning to a ward system, each area would elect its own representative—someone who truly understands and experiences our daily challenges. This change would ensure that our voices are heard, and our concerns are addressed promptly and effectively.
It's time for a government that genuinely represents its people, not just powerful special interests. Let's advocate for a system where every neighborhood has a dedicated voice at the table.
lol we vote in the same people then complain. Stop with the “mitzvah lishmoa…” from unsigned people.
ReplyDeleteThink with our heads and let’s get actual positive change.
how about a community board for each neighborhood that can advocate for improvements
ReplyDeleteWhat housing development?

ReplyDeleteAvi shnall has no answers to the problems he campaigned on
VOTE FOR AVI!
ReplyDeleteHe will get us school vouchers!
& an SUV in every driveway
DeleteAnd a chicken in every pot.
DeleteWith $6/doz eggs
He will get us more and more loans.
DeleteThat realistically can't be repaid.
Perfect time to keep the pressure on. Schnall just kicked off his campaign — let’s make sure he knows we’re watching.
ReplyDeletewe're watching.
DeleteLets hope the APP and other press do some digging.
And if "we" can't even manage to put up a viable alternative candidate in a standard election, how do "we" plan on passing a ward representation bill??
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly the problem. People have been kvetching about a need for change in our local govt, especially here on Hefkervelt, but when election time comes, we don't put up too many viable choices. Who will be the Nachshons Bnei Aminadav who are capable of serving in our govt, and will actually run for office?
DeleteThe Nachshon will be someone that doesn't mind home-schooling their children. IYKYK
Deleteit seems like the Left turn arrow from Central to Rt 9 has been shortened.
ReplyDeleteMaybe its on the weekend schedule? which is a disaster btw
DeleteMaye vote for someone else?
ReplyDeleteYears ago our stupid township had a campaign to fix up Central including, fixing the roads, sidewalks with trees etc, it is still the ugliest and most disfunctional street in Lakewood
ReplyDeleteThere hasn’t been any work being done the past 2 nights, wondering why Valley is still closed for no apparent reason
ReplyDeleteThere is no one accountable so its a total free for all.

Developers, nursing home owners, school and daycare operators, security company owners, low-voltage guys, and anyone cashing in on grants — they’re all voting for Avi.
The rest of us? Just sit quietly in traffic, keep paying the price, and remember:
WZO is treif
No lace-top shaitels
Etc…..
daas torah when I want to agree?
DeleteWe all know that people with kids still in school are afraid to shake things up — no one wants to get targeted by “the system.”
ReplyDeleteWe should recruit someone from the senior community — someone respected, experienced, and with less to lose by stepping forward. There would be widespread support for a candidate like that — someone calm, thoughtful, and actually willing to deal with the real issues we’re all facing.
Dont worry all is good, the VAAD will tell us who to vote for a week before election day, endorsed by rosha yeshiva.
ReplyDeletehakoras hatov for all that they have done for us.
DeleteWHAT have they done for us? The people on the vaad are directly involved and/or impacted by the yidden running the township / planning boards. They have made our lives miserable while making more money for themselves.
