Israel At War Motzei Shabbos 26 Elul

 Israel at war day 358

- IDF confirms killing Hezbollah terror chief Nasrallah in strike on his Beirut bunker. The attack included 83 tons of bombs dropped in the central headquarters of Hezbollah in Beirut on Friday afternoon.

- Hezbollah members found and identified Nasrallah’s body on Saturday morning along with the terror group’s southern front commander, Ali Karaki and 30 commanders

- As word spread after shabbos Israis were dancing and singing in the streets. The Mizrahi yeshivos of the national religious all danced after shabbos celebrating the assassination of Nasrallah. Machne Yehuda shuk in Yerushalayim was in festive atmosphere

- Biden: It’s time for a ceasefire in Lebanon. Asked by reporters whether an Israeli ground invasion of Lebanon is inevitable, US President Joe Biden responds, “It’s time for a ceasefire.”

- Defense officials tell NYT Israel knew of Nasrallah’s whereabouts for months before strike The decision to strike him was made this week as Israel believed the window of opportunity to take him out would close, the unnamed officials say.

-A rocket lands near Yerushalayim, in open area in West Bank

- Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed Saturday to avenge the killing by Israel of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, in a statement he said "The blood of the martyr shall not go unavenged,” Khamenei also declared 5 days of mourning.

- Iran asks Security Council for urgent meeting over Nasrallah killing

- New leader of Hezbollah is Hashem Safieddine.Safieddine is a cousin of Nasrallah and, like him, a cleric who wears a black turban denoting descent from Islam's Prophet Mohammed.

- Jared Kushner: The right move now for America would be to tell Israel to finish the job. It’s long overdue. And it’s not only Israel’s fight.
More than 40 years ago, Hezbollah killed 241 US military personnel, including 220 Marines. That remains the single deadliest day for the U.S. Marine Corps since the Battle of Iwo Jima. Later that same day, Hezbollah killed 58 French paratroopers.
And now, over the past six weeks or so, Israel has eliminated as many terrorists on the US list of wanted terrorists as the US has done in the last 20 years. Including Ibrahim Aqil, the leader of Hezbollah’s Islamic Jihad Organization who masterminded the 1983 killing of those Marines

- Recording is of the Commander of the Israeli Air Force congratulating the pilots who carried out the strike that killed the mass murderer Nasrallah yesterday. Full translation below
Commander of the Air Force: "You have brought a victorious achievement today. Excellent work. We truly hope that today, we degraded this terrorist organization. Excellent work, and [you brought me] great pride."
Fighter Pilot: "Thank you, Commander. We can reach every person and every place, and we will do everything that is asked of us to bring back the hostages and the residents of the North to their homes."
Commander of the Air Force: "Until victory.

- Bibi Netanyahu speech after assassination of Nasrallah

“One who rises to kill you, rise up and kill him first” Yesterday, the State of Israel killed the mass murderer Hassan Nasrallah.

We settled accounts with those responsible for the murder of countless Israelis and many citizens of other countries, including hundreds of Americans and dozens of Frenchmen.

Nasrallah was not just another terrorist. He was THE terrorist. He wasn’t just the Axis of Evil, he was the center of Iran's Axis of Evil.

He and his people were the architects of the plan to destroy Israel. He was not only used by Iran, many times he did their work.

And so, at the beginning of the week, I came to the conclusion that the powerful blows that the IDF inflicted on Hezbollah in the last few days, were not enough

The elimination of Nasrallah is a necessary condition for achieving the goals we have set:
Returning the residents of the North safely to their homes, and changing the balance of power in the region over the years.

Because as long as Nasrallah lives, he would quickly restore the capabilities we took away from Hezbollah. That's why I gave the directive - and Nasrallah is no longer with us.

His elimination promotes the return of our residents to their homes in the North, and it also promotes the return of our hostages in the South.

The more Sinwar sees that Hezbollah will no longer come to his rescue, the greater the chances of returning our hostages.

I would like to thank the IDF, the Air Force, the Defense Ministry, the Mossad and the Shin Bet - for these great achievements, and not just yesterday.

Citizens of Israel, we have achieved great things, but the work is not yet complete. In the coming days we will face significant challenges, and we will face them together.

Nasrallah spoke of us as "cobwebs". But instead of "cobwebs", he discovered steel tendons of a united and powerful people determined to ensure its existence and future.

And not only Hezbollah discovered this. The entire Middle East has discovered this.

All those who oppose the Axis of Evil, all those who groan under the violent tyranny of Iran and its proxies in Lebanon, Syria, Iran itself and elsewhere, all of them were filled with hope today.

I say to the citizens of those countries: Israel stands with you.

And I say to the Ayatollah’s regime: whoever tries to harm us, we will harm him. There is no place in Iran or the Middle East that the long arm of Israel will not reach, and today you already know how true this is.

Citizens of Israel, these are great days. We are at what appears to be a historic turning point.

A year ago, on the seventh of October, our enemies attacked us and thought that Israel was on the way to extinction.

A year later, blow after blow, achievement after achievement - they realize how far their hopes have faded.

Israel has the momentum. We are winning.

We are determined to continue to strike at our enemies, return our residents to their homes, and return all our hostages. We do not forget them for a moment.

My brothers and sisters, dear citizens of Israel - on this day I say to you again and again:

“Together we will fight, and with God's help - together we will win.'
