Yes, Jewish Lives Matter

The Federalist  by Moshe Krakowski

When someone drives like a maniac on the New York streets, people shrug and say, “Well, that’s New York for you.” When a Chassid does it, it represents a legitimate concern about his community’s lack of respect for secular law. This perception of Chassidim has its roots in a type of antisemitism that has historically been the most damaging to Jews: the constant portrayal of Jews as “other” and of their ordinary human behaviors as threatening.

Last week, National Review published an appalling article by Zachary Evans about the recent wave of antisemitic violence against ultra-Orthodox Jews in and around New York City. It claimed to provide context for these attacks but was inadvertently (I hope) an exercise in victim blaming.

In response to many readers’ outraged replies, both the Review’s editors and several staff members made matters worse by refusing to acknowledge any problem with the article. The worst was this screed by Kevin Williamson accusing critics of reading the article in bad faith simply to attack National Review, as if the only thing at stake here was a petty media squabble.

It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rabbi Yosef Yisroel Grossman zt”l. He was 72.
The levayah will be held at 10 a.m. at the Congregation Sons of Israel Holocaust Memorial Chapel, located at 613 Ramsey Street in Lakewood NJ. The aron will then be flown to Eretz Yisroel for kevurah on Har Hamenuchos in Yerushalayim.

Northjersey - Gun permit applications jump in NJ as Jews seek protection amid rising anti-Semitic attacks

After a spate of violent anti-Semitic attacks around the tri-state region  including a deadly shooting at a kosher grocery store in Jersey City and an attack by a machete-wielding assailant in Monsey, New York — some are reconsidering their aversion to firearms. As a result, police in Teaneck, Bergenfield and Lakewood, as well as in Rockland County, New York, all areas with large Jewish communities, said they have seen a spike in gun permit applications in recent weeks.n Toms River, Police Chief Mitchell Little said he sees an uptick in firearm permit applications every time there's an anti-Semitic attack. מכת ארבה Locust Swarms in East Africa

The UN has called for international help as the countries in East Africa are under Locust attack. It has been reported that millions of swarms of locusts have descended into Kenya from Somalia and Ethiopia, making it the worst outbreak of desert locusts in the region in 70 years.

Locusts will increase further as a new generation of breeding starts in the Horn of Africa. Egypt, Eritrea, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Yemen are also seeing substantial breeding activity that could see locust bands expand into swarms in the coming months

Trump May Hold Rally at Metlife Stadium this Summer

WILDWOOD, NJ — Speaking at his rally Tuesday night in South Jersey, President Donald Trump mused about speaking at MetLife Giants/Jets stadium in East Rutherford this summer.

"You know they all say Republicans can't win (in New Jersey). I say tell me why," said Trump before a crowd of tens of thousands this evening. "They said, do you want to move this to the Meadowlands? I said no, I want to do this in South Jersey. We want to be with our friends."

"But we could have filled up the Meadowlands arena two or three times. Maybe we'll do it during the summer. Should we do it during the summer?" he asked, to a roar of approval from the crowd.

Trump Unveils Mid East Peace Plan Palestinian Capital in East Yerushalayim

Hamodia/Reuters- U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday proposed the creation of a Palestinian state with a capital in Eastern Yerushalayim, dependent on Palestinians taking steps to become self-governing, in an attempt to achieve a peace breakthrough in their decades of conflict with Jerusalem will remain Israel & undivided

Under Trump’s proposed Middle East peace plan the United States will recognize Israeli communities in Yehuda and Shomron and allow for the extension of Israeli sovereignty in the Jordan Valley and all Jewish communities in the region.

However, it also calls for a four-year moratorium on building, and maintaining the status quo in areas not designated for being part of Israel in the future. All other areas, the majority of the region, would remain in their present status, with no building permitted by either side, while a process of negotiation would have time to take place.
In his remarks, Trump promised that “no Israelis or Palestinians will be uprooted from their homes.”

One year ago, when it became clear that Reb Osher was facing an extremely serious trial, Klal Yisroel banded together in a tremendous Kiddush Hashem to ensure that he would be properly represented in court. Super Ads Not Camouflaged Any More

From Rabbi Mordechai Berg ZTL in Mishpacha
The super ads are published again in some of the  Lakewood media. There was a policy accepted not to print any advertisements showing pictures of shaitels, No such policy has been enacted for other type of  ads.
Once again some of the  weeklies have published advertisements of special deals for Superbowl parties this coming Sunday. Its not the first time, as these ads were already running previous years but the ads have gotten much more brazen. While in previous years there was an attempt to hide and hint to it, that is no longer the case. The ads now are straight up with Super Sunday specials listing finger food, buffalo wings for the big game. No one is even trying to cleverly camouflaging their ads any more. The issue is not about following sports but its about making it Kosher like its a Jewish event.
A sign of the changing demographics of Lakewood. Years ago you couldn't get a Hashgacha if there was a seating area it was take out only, now you can advertise for the superbowl and be proud of it.

Missionaries making noise

Over the last few weeks missionaries have been coming to Lakewood and preaching with loudspeakers at street corners and central locations. Last week they were at the bus station and at Clifton and 9th street. Residents responded with loud music in a attempt to drown them out. Police came to the scene and said everyone is entitled to free speech and let them stay. The officer said the loud music had to be turned off since it was disrupting the traffic in the area. Residents stood at the corner and countered the missionaries with other signs and preaching about local events a police officer stood nearby enforcing that everyone keep to their space and not infer on others. Some residents exchanged in brief debate cars drove by and honked horns, it went on for a while.
In the end  Rabbi Blumenthal shlita a Rav in Lakewood and noted expert in refuting and debating them came down to the scene and moved the conversation over to the parking lot across the street.

Final Summation by R' Arthur Lang Prior to Court Decision in Lakewood Funding Formula lawsuit

R' Aaron Lang  a lawyer and teacher in the Lakewood school district has filed a lawsuit which is ongoing for 10 years against the state for demanding the Lakewood provide a thorough and efficient education but can not fund it under the current formula.
See full summation HERE

CONCLUSION
The matter at issue is about a funding formula that is arbitrary and capricious as applied to Lakewood, having no rational relationship to its expenses and the residential population it serves. The issue is that the formula needs to rationally fit the mandatory expenses of the district not how
financing the formula is to be divided between the state and locally. The issue would remain even if Lakewood Public School District was a middle class suburban district; but LPSD is an urban district whose students
are 90% low-income, 25% English Language Learners and 86% Hispanic, for whom the Supreme Court required a higher level of support for T & E. The heart of the matter is simply that a
11 district serving 38,000 school age children cannot provide a thorough and efficient education to its public school students under a formula designed for 6,000.

CDC: This year's flu vaccine not as effective against Influenza B

This year's flu vaccine may not be very effective against the bug, according to the Centers for Disease Control 32 children in the U.S. have died from the flu so far this year

It says this year's vaccine isn't a good match for the main strain of the virus that is going around, which is known as Influenza B. Officials say it's making for an especially bad flu season.
Dr. John Zaso, of East Meadow, says the vaccine was about a 60% match at the beginning of the season, but now there may be a mutation in the virus from weather or travel patterns.

He says the vaccine can still offer some protection, and that it's better than not getting it at all.

Anti Vaxx Group Condemns Forgery but asks why is Agudah silent on HPV Bill

Signs placed all over Boro Park and Flatbush a few days ago  in the name of Agudah urging residents to call lawmakers to prevent a law requiring girls from getting HPV shots. The bills would add HPV to the list of immunizations required for children.

Agudah says they know nothing about it and called it a complete forgery. The state of NY is mulling a law that would require  Mandatory HPV Vaccine For School Children born after 2009 to take the Gardasil 9  an HPV vaccine that can be used for both girls and boys. This vaccine can prevent most cases of cervical cancer if given before a girl or woman is exposed to the virus from STD's.

Agudah statement: "These memos are Complete Forgeries and Agudath Israel disavows any association with them,” Any authentic letters are posted on Agudah.org and tweeted @AgudahNews.“Any misuse of the Agudah name is illegal, and, of course, contrary to Halacha,” says the statement."

The Peach Group an anti Vaxxer organization tweeted in response:
"While we, as an organization condemn any sort of forgery in the strongest terms, the question remains, where IS your statement about the HPV bill? Agudah has been noticeably absent to the plight of thousands of our brethren.: see full tweet below

Yated Siyum Report

Yated Ne'eman  Siyum Hashas report: By Yochonon Donn - Jan 8, 2020

“Please send information about daf hayomi,” pleads a letter to the editor in a 1982 edition of the now-defunct Jewish Observer, the truncated sentences apparently the result of it being sent via telegram. “Want to study Torah, but live in North Carolina. Can this be done by correspondence???” The letter was signed, “Chaim Tevye Cholmetsky, Raleigh, No. Carolina.”

At the 13th Siyum Hashas according to the daf yomi schedule last week Wednesday, four decades after that memo was written, Chaim Tevye Cholmetsky would hardly have a hard time getting a shiur. An estimated 50,000 people from virtually every state celebrated the learning of the 2,711th daf, some for the first time, others for the seventh. Double that number rejoiced with the mesaymim, most in the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey’s Bergen County, with a spillover to Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center.

The Satmar Rebbes קשיא

The Satmar Rebbe Rav Aaron Teitelbaum is currently vacationing in Palm Springs, CA. Each year the Rebbe who teaches the talmidim leaves them with a question on the gemara and the talmidim have a chance to respond, all written correspondence is inserted in a special sefer that will be printed when the Rebbe returns to the yeshiva.

The Path to a Child's Chinuch Should Not Begin Like This

Its easy to say but its a reality that many have come to face. How long will i have to wait to know if my kids will be in school for next year. The acceptance letters and rejection letters were sent out. You did everything right applying to 4 schools of choice but none have room. What should have been an exciting point for new parents sending for the first time or for a child entering primary, is replaced with rejection, shame, guilt, anger, frustration, failure, doubtfulness, and constant worrying. It occupies your mind every part of the day and affects those around you. You feel embarrassed to socialize or meet people for fear they will ask the dreaded question "where are you sending your kids to school next year?
This is not what you thought would happen, but it did.
Who is to blame? first, the unprecedented growth ka'h, there is a lack of space and the general rules of supply and demand apply. New schools are opening but can not keep up. Once there is no space, that will automatically make it a selection which is where the painful process takes place.
Parents find themselves humiliated, at the mercy of school administrators and askanim pleading for their child to be accepted.
The path to a child's chinuch should not begin like this. This is not just you, but other parents are going through this as well. There will be more rounds of acceptance letters it will take time (maybe until chanuka of next year) but iyh all girls eventually are placed. In the meantime camps have already opened registration  let the kids have  something to look forward to in the summer during this ordeal. For parents each copes with it differently, if only it would be the other way around where schools sought after the parents to get their kids.

Lakewood Dodged a Huge Tax Increase

R' Aaron Lang, a selfless advocate for Lakewood school children explains how Lakewood residents were spared a huge tax when a bill allowing school districts to raise taxes was defeated in Trenton.

We just dodged a huge tax increase. The local fair share in Lakewood is $123,904,450 whereas we are only contributing $104,697,339 locally. So that is almost $20 million less.

Adequacy as defined in Lakewood is $125,908,648. Under the SFRA, we should only get $2 million in equalization aid. The state is going to phase us out from the $15 million equalization aid we have been getting to $2 million (really less because by then our local fair share will be above adequacy) over the next few years, which is where we should be based on the formula. So this law would have allowed a $20 million tax increase to make up for the difference in loss of state aid up to $20 million should the formula run.

NJ Laws Passed Today

-Vaccine Bill to eliminate religious exemption falls short and was not voted on. Lawmakers vow to vote on it next legislative session. Three Lakewood Roshei yeshiva and poskim wrote a letter to lawmakers to vote against the bill.

-NJ governor Phil Murphy on Monday blocked a bill by Sweeny that would have allowed dozens of New Jersey school districts including Lakewood  to raise more school property taxes to compensate for state funding cuts. Sweeney’s bill would allow some of those districts to exceed the 2-percent cap on property tax.

-New Jersey lawmakers Monday gave final approval to a bill banning certain flavored e-cigarettes and  vaping products in the midst of a national health crisis. The measure is up for a vote in the state Assembly and must go to Gov. Phil Murphy, who has until Jan. 21 to sign or veto it.

-The state Assembly passed a bill that would shield the identity of lottery winners, lucky scratch off ticket holders. Under the bill,  the winner’s identity would be kept secret. Gov Murphy has to sign or veto by January 21.

-New Jersey landlords cannot require their tenants pay rent by electronic means, such as a credit card or account withdrawal, under a new bill Gov. Phil Murphy signed into law Monday.

Jersey City Shooters had Bomb could have Killed People 5 Football Fields Away

The U.S. attorney in New Jersey and the head of the local FBI said Monday that the bomb found in the van of  the Jersey City terrorists could have killed or maimed people up to five football fields away. They also said there was enough material in the van to make a second bomb.

Authorities could not detail what that plan would have been, other than to say that Graham and Anderson had done research on a Jewish community center in Bayonne. They did confirm earlier preliminary suspicions that the shootout was a bias crime against Jews and against the law enforcement community. The shooters were found dead when the gunfire ended.

Authorities do not believe a Yeshiva next door to the kosher supermarket was targeted, but said they had cased the grocery store multiple times, including the morning of the attack. Carpenito also confirmed a News 4 report that several days before the shooting, a Jewish man driving near Newark Airport had been shot at;

Bde

Reb Duvid was a Lakewood resident was always mesameach others at simchas and wherever he went. The Levaya will take place in Lakewood tomorrow morning 9am at 7th Street chapel followed by the kevurah in Monsey at 2 pm

Not enough votes Yet to Pass Bill removing Religious Exemptions from Vaccines

NJ.com reports Democrats who control the 40-member Senate do not have 21 votes needed to pass the bill, to eliminate religion as a reason not to vaccinate N.J. kids   according to legislative sources who spoke on condition of anonymity because they did not have permission to discuss the status of negotiations. “It’s still a little uncertain,” Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg, D-Bergen, one of the bill’s sponsors, said late Sunday.
The vote is planned to take place Monday afternoon in Trenton.

A הנהגה in גלות

Last week In פרשת וישלח we read about יעקב and עשו what the הנהגה לדורות should be pertaining to the ongoing מלחמה throughout our גלות. It seems that some have ignored long held practices how to פיר זיך in host countries  and have taken a different approach. A combative מהלך  in your face with  JDL like tactics using media and other venues by stoking  and inciting with  threats and public humiliation. This has no doubt caused harm to the  safety of the klal and to many yechidim בגוף ובממון   On a national level  some have attacked a sitting president not taking into account any potential נקמה that can cause harm to אחינו בני ישראל.

While  kehillos worked very hard in building relationships and have formed close ties with local  politicians  it was pulled out from under the rug by the actions and approaches of outsiders. Without questioning  if the motives and נגיעות behind this hisgarus  even if it's intentions are לשם שמים to help, the results are that someone is paying a price for this.

Temps Break Record but snow could be on the way

NEW JERSEY — Record high temperatures were recorded throughout New Jersey on Saturday, making it the warmest Jan. 11 in decades. But that's about to change big time: The National Weather Service says temperatures are going to dramatically drop, and snow is definitely possible by the end of the week. In New Jersey, the National Weather Service said the high reached 70 degrees, breaking the previous record of 66 set in 1975. Temperatures soared across the region, with cities recording highs as much as 35 degrees above normal. More warm weather is expected Sunday, with a high of 66 predicted. Temperatures will begin falling by the evening. However, the air will still be warmer than normal.

ADL and NAACP Announce New Partnership to Combat Hate in New Jersey

ADL (the Anti-Defamation League) and NAACP (the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) announced a new partnership today to jointly combat all forms of hate and bigotry in New Jersey. This renewed commitment comes on the heels of an escalation in hate and bias incidents in New Jersey, including the violent anti-Semitic attack in Jersey City last month that resulted in the death of a police officer and left three people dead in a Kosher supermarket.  ADL recorded 200 anti-Semitic incidents in New Jersey in 2018 and continued to record high levels of anti-Semitism in 2019.  In addition, according to the most recent FBI data available, race-based hate crimes have increased 125%, and anti-Jewish hate crimes have increased 108%, in New Jersey since 2016.

Agudah: Winners of Just One Daf Raffle

We are pleased to announce the winners of the "Just One Daf" raffle.

But first, a thank you to the thousands of people who participated and learned Daf Beis of Berachos in memory of Rabbi Meir Zlotowitz.
Even one Daf is an accomplishment - but we hope that this first step is the first step towards another Daf, and another Daf after that.  As Rabbi Frand said at the Siyum HaShas, even if one does not finish the entire Shas, taking part in even a small portion of Daf Yomi is its own accomplishment. Don’t let perfect be the enemy of the good!

Now, the winners:

We congratulate Shlomo Berelowitz for winning the print edition of the complete ArtScroll Schottenstein Shas.

RUOC Taken off Facebook

Updated: The page is back up.Admins say it was under a hack attack and it was pulled as a defensive measure. But on Twitter  NJ Attorney General Gurbir Grewal tweeted:
"It's outrageous that just as our Jewish brothers and sisters are gathering to celebrate the Sabbath, "Rise Up Ocean County" decides to reinstate its page. Is this really the kind of online community that Facebook wants to cultivate?"

Facebook has apparently taken down the Rise Up Ocean County page. No official reason or statement is given but the page can no longer be found on the Facebook platform. Recently NJ politicians have called out the page for spreading hate and anti semitisim in its posts and called on Facebook to take action.

Audio: Trooper Spares A Ticket on the GSP to learn the Daf

Re Listen HERE to Rabbi Paysach Krohn say the story of the Yid that was pulled over on the GSP.
The story happened yesterday morning January 2nd the day after the Siyum Hashas
Rav Binyomin Ginsburg  of Toms River a noted mechanech was scheduled to speak in brooklyn he was running late and while traveling on the Garden State Parkway  was pulled over by a state trooper for weaving in and out of traffic. The trooper looked at him and said I have one question for you, did you do your page yet today?  Rabbi Ginsburg was shocked and asked the trooper to repeat the question and then feeling embarrassed he answered that he didn't do it yet. The trooper said I'll let u off if you promise to do the page later today. The trooper, who was at the Siyum Hashas in Metlife stadium said that another trooper at the event told him he wishes he could be Jewish,  they celebrate the fact that they understood a page!. he said we party for many reasons but not because we understand a page!   אשריכם ישראל.

Recap: Speeches At the Siyum Hashas

MetLife siyum recap:

Rabbi  Chaim Dovid Zweibel: Our only hope during this turbulent time is to hold onto the Daf hasefina the Blatt Gemara he than gave over a message from R' Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz:
You don't have to give money to be a tomech Torah the mere fact that you are sitting here braving the cold rejoicing with the masaymei hashas is hachzokas hatorah he said   the gematria תומכיה is סיום הש''ס both equal to 481.

Harav Malkiel Kotler: Spoke in English  Klal Yisrael learned shas all of us were enriched by this shas even though not all of us finished it. When a yid learns a masechta the Torah is written on his neshama how much greater is this simcha when so many people finished shas. Torah is blossoming and growing all over the world so many talmidei chachomim that are learning torah mitoch hadechak, We are expressing a simcha that torah is our life this gathering is a tremendous kavod hatorah we should see the continuation of torah in yeshivos, kollelim, lomdei daf yomi and share in the simchas HaTorah.

R' Leibish Lish: A round of applause to Shimon Yehuda Brodsky 10 year old child from Yeshiva Bais Hatorah in Lakewood who was undergoing surgeries and treatments but never gave up on learning maseches Brachos not skipping a day he made a siyum on the entire maseches Brachos.

Novominsk Rebbe: Klal Yisrael is alive despite all the persecution through the ages even now in America we are reminded that anti semitisim is on the rise. The secret of our survival is the Torah Hakedosha. The mesaymim are joined by the tallmidei hayeshivos and chavrei Hakolelim, those who cant keep up with daf yomi but are kovea itim all came to give an expression to hHashem we rejoice with your torah and mitzvos forever.
The rebbe than spoke directly to the Israeli government leadership. You too were meant to be part of the am hatorah but you must remember that Yerushalayim was  not meant to be NY or Paris or Hong kong, it is the residence of the shechiana hakedosha do not violate the comfort of the shechina. See that you care for EY as HKBH cares for it by allowing its neshama to flourish. Come back to the bais medrash of our day understand the meaning of this great mitzva, consider the support of yeshivos and kollelim as a zechus.

Rav Yissochor Frand: The Brisker Rav said the time of a siyum of one masechta is an es Ratzon can we begin to fathom what a siyum hashas is of thousands of yissin finishing shas. The emotions we should feel is to have a sense of gratitude how far weve come in the last 75 years since churban europe to part of this vast olam haTorah that should lead us to a sense of gratitude to hkbh who built the olam hatorah. The nazis ym''s  had a hatred for the talmud they gave frum Jews the title of Talmud Lerers and decreed no exit visas should be accepted they proclaimed the lerners and teachers of the talmud have the power to  rebuild judaism in America. They  were 100% correct and  YOU are those talmud  lehrers and Talmudishe yidden. Finishing shas begins with 1 blatt The Torah has kept us all these years, לולי תורתך שעשועי

Rav Nosson Sherman Learned the last mishna in shas with masmidei hasiyum  Held a small Barrel and Said a mashal from the Vilna Gaon a Barrel that has a hole will lose everything לא מצא הקדוש ברוך הוא כלי מחזיק ברכה לישראל אלא השלום the barrel is all the tens of thousands of yidden gathered,

Rav Aaron Shiff: Spoke in Yiddish
Daf Hayomi symbolizes the unity of klal yisrael with the torah, Rav Meir shapiro forsaw what the gemara in the end of Sotah says that the torah will keep us through the ages and bikvasa demeshicha.  said a story of Reb Dovid Weiss a who suffers from ALS was approached by his doctor from Colombia hospital a secular Jew who said i have everything in life, successful family, money homes anything I want but have no happiness and  feel an emptiness  yet you are like a dead person you can't live  much yet everyday you have a happiness  how do you have such happiness,  he said i don't have wealth or health but i have the daf yomi that gives me life and happiness if you didnt taste it you cant understand it. How happy should we be after all these blatt gemara this is true simchas hachaim  We all gather together on their festival when the omos haolam  celebrate by wasting time, we are here giving kavod hatorah to thousands of Yidden who are finishing shas this keeps us as a nation.

Rav Chaim Kanievsky: A Live siyum hashas transmitted from the home of Harav Chaim Kanievsky shlita. The moetzes psak is not to answer amen to the Kadish recited by Rav Chaim since the transmission is delayed, Rav Chaim gave a Bracha to all those finishing shas they should be zoche to understand it.
Rav Reuven Finstein shlita read a letter from Rav Chaim Kanievsky how chasuv it is when Balei batim who are kovea itim finish masectas and shas this is a great simcha in shamayim. He continued with his own personal bracha that everyone should keep trying to reach an understanding of kol haTorah kulah,
Rabbi Shlomo Farhi pays tribute to R' Mendy Rosenberg an ALS patient who can only communicate with his eyes and finishes the daf daily 7 and a half years ago he waas at the 12th siyum and today he has finished shas,

Harav Shmuel Kamenetzky: Thanked HaRav Dovid Feinstein for giving him the opportunity to be mesayem since he gave it up and gave me this zechus to make the siyum  A siyum is a haschala from the beginning we are starting a new begining we should be zoche to learn torah for many years again and again

During music after the hadran the video streamed to other siyumim taking place around the world from Israeli soldiers to a siyum in Lublin, Poland, Barclays Center and other locations.

HaRav Ahron Feldman: The first mishna of מאמתי is the beginning of the first seder in shas, Zeraim that deals with laws of produce of the fields which  portion  you your give to kohanim leviim and the poor and of Masechta Brachos that deals with the blessings we say before we partake in our food the question is that this mishna makes no mention of any of these halachos but talks about the laws of krias shema and why was this mishna chosen to be placed at the head of Shas?Seder Zeraim says the earth is not ours but Hashem's we first have to give away to those who hashem designated it too Masechtes Brachos says that the world is not ours. Krias shema says that our lives are not ours and belongs to hashem our lives and possesions we have to give up therefore this mishna is the logical beginning of Seder Zeraim masechte brachos. Shas is the blue print of our lives and shema tells us to live by this blue print. Shema is followed by the next parsha vehaya im shom Hashems will is for us to study Torah. This gathering probably the biggest since the churban bayis,  is a recognition of what totah means its an expression of the words ki heim chayeinu torah is the life blood of the Jewish people. Without the learning of Torah and its support we can not survive.

Harav Uren Reich:  This weeks parsha Yosef was still alive od yosef Chai  he sent a message through the agalos it was a remez to Yaakov avinu that yosef was still spiritually alive as to the same way he was prior to going to mitzrayim. The Remez of Eglah Arufa was that being alone puts you in great jeopardy but when a person is melava you and accompanies him its symbolically as if hes accompanied all the way.   Yosef sent a message to Yaakov that he  accompanied him all the way through not physically but spiritually. Yaakov gave Yosef the strength to refuse they were miles apart physically but spiritually there was a connection despite being in the house of potifar. Yes im firmly in mitzrayim but you are accompanying me all the way. the message that yosef sent was to uplift him and he was succesful in giving yaakov a new life. Yaakov new that Yosef was the first who went through galus but wont be the last he said the pasuk of Hamalach hagoel should bless all the generations that come after Menashe and ephraim but they should be called in my name bnei yisrael they will be llike fish who swim in water so too klal yisrael will be together with Yaakov throughout the generations there should be a multitude of yiddin who are engaged in the world bekerev Haaretz but have the capacity to make torah part of their lives. The thoudsands that are here today are sending the same message we are clinging to the torah in all circumstances. In the last 7 and a half years there have been many milestones and siyumim there are gedolei torah and amcha bais yisrael yiddin whose wives and children are all part of a lifestyle of Veyidgu  Larov we are not only hear to rejoice with the milestones and achievements of the past but to make commitments for the future more kvias itim latorah more consistency concentration anf focus so we can truly say yaakov Avinu Lo Mes.  Like fish in water who jump for every drop  we should realize the preciousness of every word of Torah.

The tefillah of ahava Rabbah we say every morning before krias shema,  we are all ahava rabbah yiddin and we should spend a few extra seconds focusing by saying this tefillah. Let us cherish the last few minutes to commit to further intesity of limud hatorah more shiurim more concentration and more kavana by ahava rabba and we will be zoche to vehaishiv lev avos albanim velev Banim Al avosam.

Rabbi Yoel Gold:  Spoke about a gift of Daf Yomi every parent should give to their children by starting the next cycle.
