Construction Begins at Clifton Ave Parking lot near BNG
Lakewood township began construction to pave the parking lot at the former little league site between Clifton Avenue and Lexington at 10th and 9th streets. The lot is used by students of the BMG campus at the nearby Bais Aaron and Bais sholom bais medrash. The lot will have 465 parking spots when completed and 9 handicapped spots. There will be a entrance on Clifton avenue, a right in right out only and a bus shelter on the clifton side. Yated Ne'eman reports that the township crews will be doing the construction as it will be a fraction of the cost. The funds came from a NJDOT grant.
How much was the grant for.
ReplyDeleteLakewood Township received a grant of more than $501,000 from the state Department of Transportation as part of a program to improve roads and bridges around the state.
DeleteThe grant was among $161.25 million being distributed to 537 towns that were announced on April 5th by the office of Gov. Phil Murphy under the Municipal Aid "Commitment to Communities" program.
The program has seven categories of grants: Roadway Preservation, Roadway Safety, Quality of Life, Mobility, Bikeway, Pedestrian Safety, and Bridge Preservation.
Lakewood's singular grant, for $501,375, is for proposed pedestrian safety improvements along Route 88 - and is in fact titled as the "Route 88 Pedestrian Safety Improvement Project."
This should answer your question.
NO there was a separate grant for the parking lot.
DeleteFact: There was only ONE grant from the NJDOT that was earmarked for the Route 88 Project. There was never any other DOT grant that was awarded for the Clifton Ave Parking Lot.
