A letter sent in this morning to the Yated by Rav Shmuel Kamenetzky condemning "in the strongest of terms" the behavior of anti-vaxxers at last week's vote in Albany.
"The language used and the gestures performed by these individuals are disgraceful and shameful.No matter what their position is on the issue at hand, there is never a justification for such conduct in any forum, let alone in the state capitol in public view."
"We have a responsibility to be a light onto the nations behavior of this nature is not only repugnant and antithetical to that responsibility, but serves to create a chilul hashem b'rabim, a public desecration of the name of G-d."
He should write it in Yiddish!

DeleteThe Rosh Yeshiva just got up from Shiva his stance on vaccines is well known. This letter was obviously publicized to further alienate the anti vaxxers by making them all appear like cooks who scream and yell.
ReplyDeleteThere have been other chillul Hashems thst no letters came out against it. Also no one is foolish enough to believe that since Rav Shmuel is in support not vaccinating that he would condone such behavior.
ReplyDeleteContrary to popular belief, R Shmuel has never publicly stated anything about vaccines. Even when asked privatwly he always manages to avoid giving a decisive answer.
