A proposed tax increase to balance Lakewood school district budget would cost an average Lakewood resident about $87 a year. The district is also getting an additional $30 million in state aid. School officials credit Mr. Arthur Lang a Lawyer and math teacher at the Lakewood high school who sued the state arguing that the funding formula does not work for the uniqueness of Lakewood and is unconstitutional. The budget will be voted on in May, see more here
Credit to Mr Arthur Lang. I looked it up on county records, my property taxes have gone up 40% in the last 4 years,. Maybe the Lakewood Township could stop handing out tax abatement's to commercial developers like candy, so there would be no need for the tax increase.
ReplyDeleteState aid is rising, what a good reason to raise taxes too.
ReplyDeleteWe need Aaron Lang! He withstood naysayer after naysayer and stuck to the course. He deserves our thanks, he was the one who did this, virtually singlehandedly.
