American Yeshiva Bachur to Spend Pesach in IDF Jail
A Lakewood bochur on his way home from Eretz Yisrael was arrested at Ben Gurion Airport by IDF military Police. The bochur who holds dual citizenship, was considered a deserter by the Israeli army after he failed to register 4 months ago when he reached the age to enlist. At the hearing the judge sentenced him to 20 days in military prison and was taken straight to the Military facility. The boy asked for a hearing that he be allowed to spend Yom Tov outside the prison. Askanim in Lakewood and EY are working on the case hoping he gets off and can be reunited with his family, please daven for אהרן בן שרה גיטל.
Of course, you neglect to mention that he is not some random unfortunate bochur, but someone who made himself the "face" of all the Peleg protests. He was prominent in all of the demonstrations, and it should come as no surprise that the government is not inclined to employ any leniency in his case.
ReplyDeleteAs the pictures show us, this boy is an unfortunate pawn in a fight for power by some ex askanim. People who have lost their unchecked power to attack whomever they want from a newspaper that was supposed to belong to the public, are now using phony giyus stories to achieve their power again.
DeleteSome bochurim are falling for this nonsense and risking their own wellbeing for the benefit of some unscrupulous asskanim.
Sounds familiar to us in Lakewood.
We should daven for Aaron, that he be released from the clutches of lowlife ashkanim and returned to the lap of his family and normalcy, where he can receive the help he needs.
this choshuveh bochur has a pure heart and soul, a true tomim, may hashem grant him a yeshuah so he does not have to spend yomtov in the zionist jail, I wonder if human rights observers should be brought in to observe how he is being treated in jail
ReplyDeleteIs there more to the story?

ReplyDeleteInteresting to see the way you look at it differently when you write a story about him versus when other websites do the same thing.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to hear a rational argument why stopping traffic for thousands of people for hours, people people in a sakana being mevatel torah and making a chillul Hashem is better then just getting a ptur from the army like most people do. Any good reason for the above?
ReplyDeletethere are people think that your tzitzis and yarmulka are crazy. maybe you should stop making a chilul hashem and take them off.
Deletecontrary to your "normal" way of thinking, there are many that feel doing what the torah and daas torah says, and not getting a ptur from the army is a kidush hashem.
You will never be able to hear a rational argument. closed minded people can only comprehend things that fit their narrow boxed in view of things.
DeleteDid you ask t he same question when gedolei yisrael demonstrated in the streets for the last 40 years for shabbos, Giyus, Nituchei Meisim, kivrei Yisrael, Bagatz,?
Deletedid you ask t he same question when the Senior citizens in Israel block traffic when they demonstrate?
The answer is NO because your Hate blinds you.
As I thought, there doesn't seem to be a rational argument not to go and simply get a ptur. The above answers just attacked me for asking a question but couldn't answer me. Wearing tzitzes is a mitzvah which states openly in the Torah. I don't understand the comparison to stopping traffic and damaging thousands of people. I guess I'm closed minded and full of hate because I asked a question and you can't answer it.
DeleteThe above answers were simply saying that no matter what answer youll be given your biased view will never except it. Thus giving you an answer is pointless and a waste of time.
DeleteBTW there are gedolim that hold that the IDF is yaharog ve'al yavor. Way bigger than wearing tzitzis.
Oh, I forgot, only ideas that fit YOUR view are acceptable.
I really feel bad for you. I asked a simple question and all you can do is switch topics. I'll try again even though you probably won't answer it. Why is it better to stop traffic and hurt thousands of people , putting many in an actual סכנת נפשות , causing massive chillul Hashem when you can go and get a ptur from the army. Really, is it so hard to comprehend my question? The question wasn't if going to the army is yeharog ve al yavor. The question wasn't about tzitzis, it's about getting a ptur like bnei torah have been doing for all these years. I'm biased because I don't see any justification in what's being done and you obviously can't explain it in a rational way and chose to attack and falsely accuse me.
DeleteFrom 1948 until recently, every yeshiva bochur registered and was given an immediate ptur. This was the policy of the Chazon Ish, the Brisker Rav, Rav Shach, Rav Elyashiv & Rav Shtainman.
ReplyDeleteRecently, a trend has started by some, to not even register and therefore get arrested. This was not the derech of the Gedolim.
I'm trying to find rachmunus in my heart for this misguided soul who will spend Pesach in jail, but find it difficult.
AP, the circumstances have changed since the Brisker Rav's days requiring a different stand. Don't include Rav Shteinman on your list. He never agreed with the Brisker Rav, Chazon Ish, Stiepler & Rav Shach. He seems to have a whole a whole different approach then all the gedolim.
DeleteYes, it has gotten better not worse.
DeleteIn the old days they would be mevazeh the bochrim when they would ask for a dichiyui now it`s pro forma.
Satmar -Aharonim- are not even mocheh
Israel is surrounded by Arab-Nazi enemies who outnumber Israel by more than 300-to-1, and Muslim-Nazi enemies who outnumber Jews by more than 1,000-to-1. Therefore, Israel needs no soldiers because it has no enemies!
ReplyDeletesuch a good point with such enemies its just an illusion that the idf is protecting anyone, its limud hatorah that protects like it says in the gemarah
DeleteBefore we look at the the Torah Jews enemies, lets look at their friends.
DeleteWith friends like the IDF and supporters like you who needs enemies?
But when those "bnei torah" are on the street acting like bnei Chum, who is protecting?
ReplyDeleteThey are being moiser nefesh for their belief & something many or most gedolim feel is the correct way. Respect it even if you disagree.
ReplyDeleteWHERE ARE THR GRDOLIM, NAMES PLEASE.
DeleteYou can respectfully disagree but there is no koach haTorah without actual Torah being learned
