Ebola scare in Lakewood

update: Ebola scare has been ruled out
APP LAKEWOOD – Police, fire and hazardous materials units responded to a condominium complex early Wednesday morning for a patient with Ebola-like symptoms, according to reports.

Details about the situation on Squankum Road and East Kennedy Boulevard are scarce. According to reports, the patient was hospitalized with a 105-degree temperature and had traveled from Nigeria less than a month ago.
Hazmat units from the New Jersey State Police and Berkeley Emergency Response Team Station 85 responded.
A police supervisor said the man isn't from the Coventry Square neighborhood and was likely visiting someone in the area. The supervisor said the man was taken from his car to Monmouth Medical Center in Lakewood after someone called 911.

Lakewood police declined to comment on the situation. New Jersey State Police officer Alina Spies confirmed that the agency was assisting but declined to comment further.
