- Lakewood BOE to stop providing free courtesy busing to public school students after Lakewood township cuts the funding. Until now public school students who are not mandated for free transportation from the school district received free courtesy busing sponsored by Lakewood municipal township. (While yeshiva non mandated parents pay out of pocket for busing provided by LSTA) Now the township notified the BOE that they will not longer pay for the free. Courtesy busing due to funding cuts.

A representative of Hatzolas Nefashos called on a Jackson council member to publicly apologize for remarks made about the volunteer emergency medical organization two weeks earlier, including referring to it as a “copycat” ambulance service. Their decision likely infuriated Mikie Sherrill when she was the Democratic front-runner, and from that point on, Lakewood could no longer expect the same level of consideration from her. Instead, those who could have supported her had no choice and went all out for Jack Ciattarelli.

And frankly if we were just given our share of the tax levied in Lakewood which stays in Lakewood we would be just fine. DeleteIf a democrat knows that the majority of Lakewood is demophobic, and cannot see a candidate for his positions, only for his associations, we have ripped half of our potential influence out of the playbook.
If a republican knows that he does not need to produce anything to receive a sizable majority of the Lakewood vote, we have severely weakened what is left of our influence.
But even the Va'ad and askanim, who have not joined forces with either party, does not appreciate the concept of working with both sides. Christie, for those who remember, wanted to meet and greet some askanim at the start of his career. That does not equal endorsement, and it is quite accepted to meet all sides. The askanim said no, and he swore revenge. That came in the form of an attack on the financially weaker (and spiritually stronger) elements of the kehilla.
Stop the binary either-or attitude, work out how to focus on shared interests. Our survival depends on it.

On moving day I tried calling the sofer multiple times but I couldn’t reach him (there were no cell phones!). Finally in the evening I called Rabbi Gissinger and asked if I could buy mezuzos from a different sofer. He asked me who was the sofer I had ordered from, and then told me to give the sofer another hour. If I still can’t get in touch with him then, I should call back Rabbi Gissinger. Well, the sofer called me a few minutes later! I didn’t realize it at the time, but when I thought about it afterwards, I realized that Rabbi Gissinger must have actually called and managed to get in touch with him, and made sure he called me back!

NJ Governor is giving out money to th eusual towns and plus more fubnding , Trenton, Newark, etc... Lakewood is getting cut big time. the explanation is the governor is showing us all as indicated in The Voice last week page 200. It was a softball interview with Coles. The boys on the committee need to go. They have been there forever and dont represent us. Our taxes are going up and up along with living expenses. All they do is give tax abatements to the conected ones and money that is obtained from the governement goes to the connected ones. (Private Way expansion, Ave of Americas.) Vote them all out.
