The rebbe's son issued a clarification. The Rebbe’s comments about the Hat Habayis were taken out of context. Supporters insist he never permitted Jews to ascend Har HaBayis in practice, and that the published remarks were only part of an internal halachic discussion. They emphasize that his view remains in line with mainstream halachic authorities that Jews should not ascend the Temple Mount today because of the serious prohibition involved

- Update: A new federal push to make daylight saving time permanent—backed by President Trump and advanced through Congress could end clock changes in New Jersey if it becomes law. Under the proposal, the U.S. would stop “falling back” and “springing forward,” locking the country into year-round daylight saving time. Because of a dormant New Jersey trigger law, the state would automatically adopt the change if federal legislation passes.
If enacted, winters in New Jersey would mean much darker mornings (sunrise close to 8:30 a.m.), but later sunsets/shkiah in the evening (after 5:30 p.m.), potentially benefiting retail and Jersey Shore tourism. The earliest possible rollout could be late 2026, though delays could push it to 2027.

It's sad that Rav Bender from far rockaway has to lecture the olam in Lakewood about these terrible sports leagues in the ihr hatorah
ReplyDeleteWhere are all the mechanchim and rabbanim allowing this goyish culture in our midst???
We have become modern orthodox with black hats
You can't make this stuff up but smash house burger is the official middos sponsor of the LBA I kid you not this was posted on their social media page
Deleteseforimreview.substack.com
ReplyDeleteBut they wear white shirts and black hats and give tzedaka so it's ok
ReplyDeleteDoes he know what their regular clothing in the 5towns look like?
ReplyDeleteGo back to your town that has totally forsaken God and now serves TYH
He actually called out TYH and put a stop to the TYH boys.
DeleteThe boys in the 5 Towns look worse on the streets than the Lakewood kids at the games. Nauseating hair cuts, tight pants etc.
DeleteAnd even his Mesivta boys, through 12th grade, have leagues in the afternoons during when Lakewood Mesivtas have 2nd seder. They wear uniforms, some wear sleeveless. And they're entering B.M. in a few months.
These games are High School vs. High School, and Darchei even helps arrange them
Rav Bender is a true leader
DeleteI don’t understand how someone can legitimately say such a thing.
DeleteOur Rabannim have also bemoaned LBA. Don't attack Rabbi Bender he is 100% right. Ask ANY menahel in Lakewood and they will tell you.
DeleteWe all knew lba was a problem, but everyone is afraid of his zaida, so we bury our head in the sand. But nothing will change, this town has lost the ihr hatora moniker a long time ago. The only criteria we live by is that it's not a bfeirush aveira in shulchan aruch.
ReplyDeleteWell it could be, but my kid had a great time, without paying any attention to the Voice or the hype
ReplyDeletePeople need to start asking what’s right with it, not what’s wrong with it. That might help some people stick to the derech Hatorah
ReplyDeleteThey are already in sport clothes in LI
ReplyDeleteThe LBA is a business like all businesses. Someone identified a niche and built a business.
ReplyDeleteThen, people decided, "children need an outlet", but not based on their childrens' needs. They saw the ads, and suddenly a need was created.
This idea is behind the massive stadium events we are treated to every few months, the restaurants, over the top vacations, and more. The ads create the need.
If we want to break this pattern, start by ignoring the huge placards about Aidrei Hatorah. They are the same problem as LBA.
May ahanu lan rabannan. Afrah lepumeih!
DeleteThe RY Reb Malkiel has been moche against LBA on more than one ocassion. How and why should a child try to do well in school when his whole focus is the game after school. For a boy that needs it, its one thing, but everyone else? No wonder there's a booming demand for "beis" mesivtos in Lakewood.
Rav Yaakov Kamenetsky would see no problem. He would say , as he did, the boys need excercise. And so do the parents, both mothers and fathers.
DeleteLess than fully accurate.
DeleteHe would weigh the mores and the tone of the region, before giving a response. Likely he would not have been for LBA-in Lakewood proper.
He advised someone who asked re: riding a bike, back when the Bnei Torah area ended at Madison/rt 9,that the fellow should walk his bike to Madison and then ride it from there
LBA has nothing to do with exercise, and the mental processes that produce that comparison are seriously suspect.
DeleteRav Yaakov would not have cared about Lakewood mores.
DeleteAnd your story about the bicycle is a Bubba Mayseh. He saw nothing wrong with riding a bicycle in the street.
And sit down for this one...
He said the wives should also ride bicycles for exercise. I heard it directly from the chashuv Lakewood yungerman who asked him.
Cute.Everything that is a threat to you and you have no clue you feel necessary to call a bubbe maaseh. Naturally.
DeleteAsk people a little older than you. Who were there.
I was there. One of Rav Yaakov's closest talmidim went to Yeshiva by bicycle. Right through the heart of Lakewood. RY told him "sometimes you need to feif un the velt"!
Delete1:27 pm
DeleteGo to Judaica Plaza in the evening ,ask the usually maverik R'Eli Meir C.
Such hypocrisy by the self righteous bullies calling out Rav Bender for not speaking first to the business which they dont know if he did or not, while doing so everyday destroying businesses on a whim not worried about others parnoso
ReplyDeleteRabbi Bender is from the greatest mechanchim out there and he's not afraid to speak his mind even if his opinion is not popular
ReplyDeleteIf he thought that LBA would be a benefit for chinuch he would say it even if everyone disagreed with him.
If he's saying that it's bad we need to do a real cheshbon hanefesh if we are hurting our children with these sports programs
Why do you think so? Do you see what the boys in his place look like?
DeleteIt's always easier to critique the other town. Let the Lakewood Mechanchim go the 5 Towns, and give them the microphone there.
He does however have his finger to the wind
Delete1:27 Etc.
ReplyDeleteGuarantee you that he would not 🚫 approved of the tight pants worn while biking these days. He would have condemned it.Guaranteed.
You obviously didn't know Rav Yaakov. He wasn't preoccupied with these things.
ReplyDeleteGuaranteed!
