-US naval blockade of Iran comes into effect; IDF says it’s on high alert
- Two soldiers were moderately hurt and six others were lightly injured in a Hezbollah drone attack in southern Lebanon earlier today, the military says.
- A senior US official told Al-Jazeera: We are ready to impose a naval blockade on Iran, and we have enough forces and equipment to carry it out. We will implement this, regardless of the duration set by President Trump. We will not discuss the possibility of the US fleet passing through the Strait of Hormuz to secure our operations, nor will we, at this time, discuss the rules of engagement in the event of a violation of the naval blockade of Iran.
- The IDF confirms: More than 250 terrorists and commanders from the Hezbollah terrorist organization were eliminated in the largest strike in Lebanon on April 8 - including dozens in Beirut.
- The US military said it will enforce a blockade on all traffic entering and leaving Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz from 10 a.m. ET today, after weekend peace talks in Pakistan faltered. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has vowed to retaliate.
- Iran has threatened to close Bab el-Mandeb, the gateway to the Red Sea, in response to the U.S. blockade of its ports. This could be carried out through its proxy forces in Yemen, the Houthis

-A military source warns the IRGC could respond as early as tonight, including potential strikes on U.S. and Israeli targets tied to Strait of Hormuz developments. The IDF is bracing for escalation and a possible ceasefire collapse, updating its target bank and intensifying monitoring inside Iran.
