Motzei Shabbos Vayigash 5781 News Updates Lakewood

-39 new covid cases in Lakewood totals 7939/226

- Trump: I simply want to get our great people $2000, rather than the measly $600 that is now in the bill. Also, stop the billions of dollars in “pork”.

- Trump: The U.S. Supreme Court has been totally incompetent and weak on the massive Election Fraud that took place in the 2020 Presidential Election. We have absolute PROOF, but they don’t want to see it - No “standing”, they say. If we have corrupt elections, we have no country!

-Trump: Time for Republican Senators to step up and fight for the Presidency, like the Democrats would do if they had actually won. The proof is irrefutable! Massive late night mail-in ballot drops in swing states, stuffing the ballot boxes (on video), double voters, dead voters, fake signatures, illegal immigrant voters, banned Republican vote watchers, MORE VOTES THAN ACTUAL VOTERS (check out Detroit & Philadelphia), and much more. The numbers are far greater than what is necessary to win the individual swing states, and cannot even be contested Courts are bad, the FBI and “Justice” didn’t do their job, and the United States Election System looks like that of a third world country. Freedom of the press has been gone for a long time, it is Fake News, and now we have Big Tech (with Section 230) to deal with But when it is all over, and this period of time becomes just another ugly chapter in our Country’s history, WE WILL WIN!!!.

-Israel Quarantine Hotel Clarifications
As of Wednesday, December 23, all passengers arriving in Israel are compelled to quarantine in government run hotels. There are several exceptions to this rule, many of which have been unclear until this point. Chaim V’Chessed officials have now succeeded in clarifying many of the details, which are presented below. We caution that rules can, and will, change rapidly. This is the most up- to- date information available at this time. HERE

When Asarah B'teves falls out on a Friday this year 5781

This year the fast of Asarah B'Teves comes out on Friday Erev Shabbos Vayigash. It is Unique since it is the only fast that is observed as a fast on a Friday. The last few times תענית עשרה בטבת fell out on a Friday was in 1996, 2001, 2010, 2013. The gemara in Eruvin 41a discusses how to conduct a fast on erev shabbos. According to the אבודרהם, if Asarah B’Teves would potentially fall out on Shabbos, we would all actually be required to fast on Shabbos but that is impossible according to the calendar. Meforshim explain since the siege on Asarah B’Teves was the beginning of the long chain of tragedies that ended with the churban Beis HaMikdash it has the ability to push off Shabbos.

Halachos  below from sefer  נטעי גבריאל  (for more halchos or insights see here)

-When the fast of Asara B’teves falls out on a Erev Shabbos, the fast must be observed until nightfall. We break the fast by making Kiddush friday night.

-Shachris is like any other fast day.
-Mincha we lein ויחל and read the Haftorah, we recite עננו during shmoneh esrei. We do not say Tachanun or אבינו מלכנו. It is best to Daven Mincha earlier preferably Mincha Gedolah. (when we dont דוכן)
-Since its erev Shabbos it is permitted to take a Hot shower, Haircuts and all shabbos preparations (Mishna Berura 551:7)
-Those those who refrain from listening to music on fast days should refrain from music on Asara B’teves as well even after chatzos(Nitei Gavriel based on sefer Rokeach Kitzur shulchan aruch 121)
- One who has the custom to taste the Shabbas food every Friday (טועמיה) may do so on Asara B’teves but one must careful not to swallow it be sure to only taste a small amount of food and to then spit it out (OC 567:1, Mishna Berura 567:6, Kaf Hachaim, OC 567:10)
- kabolas shabbos and Maariv begin earlier so people can get home and make kiddush at צאת הכוכבים.
- Zemiros that are sung before Kiddush may be deferred and sung during the meal.
-Those who have a minhag not to make kiddush Friday night between 6:00 pm-7:00 pm should disregard the minhag(Nitei Gavriel)
- The fast starts at alos hashachar as usual and it goes until tzeis hakochavim even if one has already come home from shul on Friday
night4. Tzeis hakochavim in this case is based on the amount of time past shkiyah that one normally waits after a fast. For many, this is
50 minutes after shkiyah. There is no concept of accepting an “Early Shabbos” thereby ending the fast early.

Sassover Rebbe warns of unproven safety of COVID vaccine

The Rebbe said, “Now the doctors want us to use this vaccine. Maybe it’s a good vaccine – I don’t know. But who does know? And when will they know? After the damage is already done? They’re already warning people with allergies not to be vaccinated.”

Arutz 7- In an address to his chassidim during Hanukkah at the end of last week the Sassover Rebbe of Ganei Tikva discussed the coronavirus vaccination campaign that has just begun in Israel, and expressed his concern that the safety of the vaccine has yet to be established.

The Rebbe also mentioned special herbal drops that he described as being especially potent against the coronavirus that are apparently banned in Israel. “I merited to be a partner in the healing of tens of thousands of people when I obtained these drops for them,” he related, “both here and in the United States. I got them to people who were on the verge of taking the crazy step of going to hospital – when it was already known that people who went, never came back – and I begged them to stay at home and take these drops, and they recovered.”

Returning to the topic of the vaccine, the Rebbe said, “Now the doctors want us to use this vaccine. Maybe it’s a good vaccine – I don’t know. But who does know? And when will they know? After the damage is already done? They’re already warning people with allergies not to be vaccinated.”

The Rebbe also mentioned the fact that several haredi social activists have been making the rounds of haredi rabbinic leaders and obtaining their signatures in favor of vaccination. “I don’t want to talk about the activists – after all, they have their own reasons for doing things, and they do lots of good things too. But I will address regular people, and to you, I say that you should take very good care of your health and stay away from this vaccine.”

He also related how, around forty years ago, he had the privilege of discussing a certain medical issue with Rabbi Elyashiv ztz”l, the Torah leader of the generation whose knowledge of medical, technological, and scientific issues that he dealt with was undisputed. “I sat with Rabbi Elyashiv for two hours while we debated a certain drug that was then relatively new on the market. It had been in circulation for a year or two at the time, in many countries, and doctors were promoting it. I remember how Rabbi Elyashiv said, ‘How can we take responsibility for a drug that has only been around for a few years?’”

Incidentally, Rabbi Elyashiv’s position on most childhood vaccinations was that since they were accepted medical practice, parents should see that their children were vaccinated – however, from this anecdote, it would appear that he believed that “medical practice” does not become immediately “accepted” simply because doctors make a decision, but rather that the safety and efficacy of a particular mode of treatment has to be independently established as well.

The Rebbe concluded his speech with words of blessing for all Jews to merit health and long life with spiritual fulfilment. INN

JHS: The Diffusion of Chernobyl: A Dynasty Spreads

Part I&II One of the oldest dynasties in the history of the chassidic movement, Chernobyl traces its growth from Rav Nachum Twersky the Maor Eynayim (1730-1797) through his son Rav Mottel the Chernobyl Maggid (1770-1837). One of the most influential courts in all of the Russian Jewish Pale of Settlement, with the Chernobyl Maggid's passing in 1837 his empire was divided among his eight sons. Over the course of the 19th century, the various branches of the Chernobyl dynasty - Chernobyl, Tolne, Rachamastrivka, Skver, Trisk, Hornosteipel and others - would dominate chassidic life in Ukraine.

Part II: The Chernobyl Crisis: Chernobyl Part II
At the turn of the twentieth century, the various Chernobyl dynasties were flourishing though they faced financial crisis. With World War One and the subsequent Russian Revolution, they all began to face an existential crisis. Though some branches of the dynasty heroically tried to sustain life under increasingly adverse conditions within the Soviet Union, most chose emigration.

A year since the 13th Siyum Hashas of Daf Yomi at Metlife stadium

This Shabbos parshas Miketz, 4 Teves 5781 ד' טבת תשפ''א will mark the first year anniversary since the 13th Siyum Hashas took place at Metlife stadium, since then 348 blatt were learned with 2363 remaining to the next siyum. It was exactly a year ago a day after Chanukah where thousands celebrated the Siyum and  many more have joined the machzor for the first time.
It's hard to believe that a year went by when Coronavirus was something that only existed in China. When the Novominsker rebbe ZT"L spoke  that "The secret of our survival is the Torah Hakedosha", When Rav Shmuel Kamenetzky shlita thanked Rav Dovid Feinstein ZT"L  for giving him the
opportunity to be mesayem since he gave it up and gave him this zechus to make the siyum. A year since not knowing that in  just a few months klal yisrael  was to be hit with a pandemic turning life on its head taking many korbonos R"L and disrupting the routine of  Torah and Tefilah. Through it all Torah learning and the lomdei daf yomi have not been deterred as they began Maseches shabbos  no matter how challenging, they persevered. They completed masechetos Brachos, Shabbos, Eruvin and now in middle of the 2nd perek of Pesachim. Hopefully all those who started Brachos are still going strong or joining in the cycle as Rabbi Frand said " don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good".

Remote Controlled - From Above

By: Yehuda Zayit

About 6 weeks ago communities in Israel experienced power outages. In a sermon many miles distant a mullah proudly touted Iran's unique winning cards. The IRGC successfully hacked into an electric supply company in Israel and disrupted its  service. According to JNS the Israel electric corporation vehemently denied the allegation on Israel army radio claiming it was a malfunction instead.

Well there is your giveaway clue; it most certainly must have taken place, other wise why wouldn't they just ignore or dismiss the statement out of hand. Apparently the episode tweaked a raw nerve. If the chevrat Hachashmal insist it did not happen the truth must be the opposite.

There's an old saying in Urdu "OIf der ganev brent der hittel" also the numerous amount of  venues suggest it was a coordinated attack rather than a random power failure.

November 27 mossads pinpoint Iranian operation.

Iran's nuclear weapons chief was assassinated in a carefully planned assault "it was deemed a tremendous blow to Iranian prestige and morale". True, but apparently Israelis had  their own ego bruised  from  the cyberspace attack just weeks before.

Chanukah's timeless message of על הניסים ועל הנפלאות ועל המלחמות שעשית לאבותינו puts these current events in context.

Remote control machine guns  with silences as is alleged to have been used in the Iranian operation are literally not in the hands of man. The one and only determines the course of events in this world whether human endeavor is successful or not.
Israel, Mossad, Teheran and the rest of us are all pawns   כחומר ביד היוצרת who decides our fate and destiny.

With clarity of emunah  we'll merit to see Al-mighty's salvation just like בימים ההם בזמן הזה.

Lakewood, NJ Tops list of Home Prices that are Rising the most—and the Fastest

Skyrocketing Suburbs: The 10 Urban Escapes Where Prices Are Rising the Most by Realtor.com The COVID-19 pandemic has really taken the shine out of big-city life. Prices are shooting up in the now desirable suburbs.

1. Lakewood, NJ -  Median listing price: $309,000 Percentage increase: 47.6%

Unlike the New York City–adjacent suburbs of northern New Jersey, Lakewood and other towns in the central part of the Garden State aren't relying mainly on stressed former urbanites for their influx of new residents. There are plenty of home sales coming from folks already in the area desperately looking to trade up—or scale down—in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. All that activity, along with skimpy inventory, has led to a price surge. Lakewood also has an ample supply of 55-plus communities, where homes have been selling fast as boomers cash out the equity in their existing homes for more manageable condos and townhomes in communities that are known for

Yated: We Have Been Hijacked

Yated: Article last weeks issue "We Have Been Hijacked" By Rabbi Avrohom Birnbaum - Dec 9, 2020

Do we realize where we are? Where we are going? Ads for “encrusted” and “infused” cuts of meat and steaks that cost $40 and $50 a pound are in our publications. We are putting the Yevonim to shame. I am almost certain that even Antiochus couldn’t get his hands on a charcuterie that any bochur can get if he knows the right party to crash.
Sadly, this year, I personally feel deterred by the teva that seems to be engulfing our community and swallowing us up. some excerpts
  Zombied Prisoners
...Apparently, when the sound or buzz of yet another message comes in, we are so distracted, so “not there,” that like dogs on a leash, so many of us are pulled to our devices with an invisible pulley that seems stronger than a thick chain. ...... Nothing is sacrosanct, not davening, not learning, not talking to our spouses, not focusing on our own children. These are children for whom we would spend millions of dollars if their lives were in danger, yet they can’t even get more than thirty seconds of our undivided attention and focus. Is that not prison? Is that not enslavement?

The New Normal or Just Normal?

That was just the beginning of the week. A little later, I received several periodicals, freebies that are primarily advertising circulars. Thick and glossy – the talent for compelling graphics in our community is admirable – they were filled with numerous Chanukah ads.  As I turned page after page, I realized that consumerism in our communities is so powerful that if you would ask a child or a teen in today’s world what Chanukah is all about, he could not be blamed if he answered that it was all about gourmet donuts and meat boards! I enjoy tasty food, a piece of meat or a donut as much as the next person, and certainly, Chanukah mesibos are part and parcel of Chanukah and should be. Nevertheless, something is happening. There is something deeper, pervasive and scary going on.
