There will be hespedim this evening marking the first Yartzheit of Rav MOshe Eliezer Rabbinowitz Zatzal who was the Menahel ruchni of Yeshiva Keren HaTorah and Rav of B'M Tiferes shimon in Lakewood. The Lakewood Rosh Yeshiva Harav Yeruchem Olshin will deliver Divrei Hesped followed by Harav Elya Brudny, and Reb Nachum Rabinowitz.
It will take place at Yeshiva Ktana Bais Medrash 120 second street, Lakewood, NJ. Program will begin with Mincha 7:30 pm followed by maariv at 9:00 pm.

Lakewood express Bus fare increase

Lakewood express bus route between Brooklyn and Lkwd will increase its fare for the first time in 9 years. Monsey trails which operates the the route said in a statement that current expenses forced an increase in prices. The fare hike goes into effect on May 1, 2017.
Cash fare will increase to $19 
Children fare will only increase $1
10 trip book will increase to $150

Other NJ School districts see a rise in busing costs

In New Jersey, a state law requires public school districts to transport non public school students or reimburse parents for transportation costs with aid in lieu. These students' parents are paying taxes but not using public school services. Towns in Ocean and Monmouth county are seeing an increase in busing reimbursements APP reports of sharp increases in Jackson, Brick, Howell, Toms River the article naturally puts the blame on private Lakewood schools. But thats not the case in Brick, were 826 children are transported to nonpublic schools most go to christian or other private schools. Even Jackson which according to the report will be busing 800 kids next year however the superintendent is quoted "When we were at our highest enrollment, there was high aid in lieu (reimbursement) numbers – and they weren’t going to Jewish yeshiva schools.” 
But its always fun to blame it all on Lakewood.

Summer Zman begins

Bein hazmanim comes to an end, now the hustle and bustle returns as the Ihr Hatorah begins the new Pesach zman. Bochurim and Kollel youngeleit will be returning to the shtender in their respective Yeshivos. The sweet sounds of Torah learning will be heard in the Various botei medrashim throughout Lakewood. The famous chavrusah tumul began in BMG yesterday, in order to start the zman before shabbos.

Acceptance letters go out for girls high schools in Lakewood

Did your daughter get in to a school? Did she get in to a school of her choice? Well the (fun) begins as acceptance letters started arriving today in the mail for Lakewood girls high schools. Among school who sent letters are Bais Kaila and Oros. This is just the first round. Not everyone gets accepted right away this will play itself out unfortunately through the beginning of the upcoming school year.

The Rebbe paid a visit to the home of the Lakewood Rosh Yeshiva Rav Malkiel Kotler. Israeli media reports they discussed the Giyus bnei hsyeshivos in EY and questioned if there is a future for bnei Yeshiva in EY.  Also discussed was the police treatment and  incarceration of the Hapeles newspaper editors and the shocking silence by the frum members of Knesset. The Rebbe than took a tour of the new Satmar development.

Quality Farmers Market on Rte 9 in Howell more recently known as price point has closed and officially merged with Aisle 9 grocery market on Madison Ave in Lakewood.

Agudath Israel Conference for NJ Rabonim took place last week. 45 Rabbonim from across NJ towns such as Passaic, Lakewood, Edison, Deal, Marlboro, Toms River, attended. Lakewood Rabbonim, Rav Osher Chaim Leiberman, and  Rav Simcha Bunim Cohen, were among those who spoke and presented on timely topics. The discussions were not recorded.

Can't find lettuce, Flanken,  yeast etc. Stores in Lakewood ran out of items as distributors can not catch up to the post pesach restocking.  It takes up to 3 weeks for the industry to get back to normal following pesach. This year's schedule was challenging for the industry particular the kosher produce market.

Lakewood township sets up safe exchange zone

LPD- The Township of Lakewood has set up a Safe Exchange Zone in the parking lot of the Municipal Building located at 231 3rd Street. Because of the high volume of online selling and trading of goods, we think it is important for the safety of our community to have a designated area for these purposes. “We wanted to give the residents of Lakewood a safe location to do exchanges and make purchases that are monitored by the Police Department”, said Chief Gregory Meyer. The Safe Exchange Zone is a well lit area that is under 24 hour surveillance. Read more Here.

Lakewood kashrus agencies have yet to compile a list. Lakewooders are frustrated and left in the dark not knowing which stores are ok and which ones are problematic. In other cities such as Baltimore, LA, Chicago they each have a kashrus agency whose job is to service the needs of the kehilla. A Kashrus agency is not only about making money it is also about servicing the tzibbur it officially represents.

Hamodia: Hagaon Harav Yosef Rosenblum, Zt”l

Hamodia (NEW YORK) - Harav Avraham Yosef Rosenblum, zt”l, Rosh Yeshivas Shaarei Yosher, Boro Park, was niftar on Monday night Acharon shel Pesach at the age of 89 in Maimonides Hospital, after an illness.

Rav Rosenblum was sought out for his daas Torah and hadrachah by thousands in the Torah world, famed as one of the spokesmen for Torah Jewry and guiding lights of Torah education in America.

He was a talmid of Harav Aharon Kotler, zt”l, at Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, N.J. Once, when Rav Kotler learned that a certain Rav refused to make an appeal for the Lakewood yeshivah, he wondered aloud, “Who has talmidim like ours?” and he began listing his best talmidim, with Rav Yosef Rosenblum the first name mentioned.

Matzah food of healing "מיכלא דאסוותא"

Amazing story: Tzvi L. was in a bad car accident this Erev Pesach in Lakewood. His car flipped over and it took a half hour to cut him out. At the hospital they said he had bleeding in the brain and neck injuries and would need multiple surgeries R"L. Leil Seder his wife and he decided to make a Seder in the hospital anyways. The doctor came in and asked "what do you think you are doing?  If you eat and drink now, your surgery will have to be postponed!" They decided to proceed with the Seder. In the morning the hospital ran additional CT and other scans and the doctors were amazed that the results were clean and no surgery was needed!  The Lakewood askonim had given him the name of someone to call for a ride home if he was discharged on Yomtov (he refused to sign discharge papers so a nurse offered to sign for him).

Annual “Kosher on the Road” I-80 Barbecue

Matzav.com The annual “Kosher on the Road” barbecue for people traveling between the tri-state area and Cleveland, Detroit, South Bend and Chicago for Yom Tov will be held on Sunday, April 9, at the Flying J station at exit 173 in Lamar, Pennsylvania, off of Interstate 80, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Rt 9 expansion: Christie approves "concept development for widening."

Gov. Chris Christie signed legislation releasing some $400 million in funding for new construction projects for the state's Transportation Trust Fund. For Ocean county there are no repairs , but the portion of Route 9 running through Lakewood will receive "concept development for widening."
The supplementary spending bill Christie signed into law requires the $400 million to be spent within 100 days. Read more at NJ.com

I read your article regarding the Lakewood School District and was severely disappointed. The article is based on lies and misinformation. The fact is that the Lakewood School District doesn’t not provide non-mandated busing to private school children. The fact is that the Lakewood School District does provide busing for non-mandated public school children.
