Rav Doniel Neustadt appointed Rav in Pine River village Ashkenaz shul

Rav Doniel Yehuda Neustadt has been appointed as the new rov of the Pine River Village Ashkenaz Shul in Lakewood, NJ. The appointment was officially made public this morning. 
A Few months ago Harav Boruch Saks shlita was appointed Rav of the Sefard minyan at PRV located in the same building as the Ashkenaz minyan. Rav Saks is a R''M in Yeshiva of Staten Island and was the Rav of the Agudah Zeirei minyan in Boro park for many years.

Power outage stores temporarily closed at GG plaza

There is a power outage at Rt 9 and county line Rd in Lakewood.  Stores at the Gourmet Glatt shopping plaza are out of power, some stores are closed until power is restored. The blackout is along route 9 also in Howell, AldI is closed as well.

ADL concerned over string of anti semetic vandelism in ocean county, NJ

Florham Park, NJ, August 30, 2016 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today expressed concern over anti-Semitic vandalism that has struck parts of Ocean County, NJ, calling it, “an attack on the entire community.”

On August 25, spray-painted swastikas and the words “Hail Hitler” were discovered on playground equipment at Yeshiva Ketana. A number of swastikas were also spray-painted onto benches and playground equipment at Echo Lake Park in Howell Township on August 29.

Howell park defaced with Swastikas

HOWELL, NJ — Howell Township police are investigating after a resident found swastikas spray-painted there Monday, police said. 
The swastikas, at Echo Lake Park on Maxim Southard Road, were reported Monday morning, Detective Sgt. Christian Antunez said. 
The detective bureau found nine swastikas spray-painted in white near the horseshoe pits on the backboards and benches, he said. The horseshoes area is about 300 feet from the road and parking lot, making the vandalism partially visible but hard to distinguish, he said.  There also was random, non-distinct spray painting on the floor of the gazebo, he said.

NWS: Gaston can bring rip currents to NJ

Hurricane Gaston way out in the Atlantic may produce waves that could cause dangerous rip currents on the Jersey Shore, according to a forecast by the National weather service. The storm was at Hurricane strength before it was downgraded to tropical storm and now back at Hurricane strength.

A favorable ruling for Yeshiva Naos Yaakov

Yesterday, a federal court issued a final order determining that prohibiting Storzer & Associates’ client, Yeshiva Gedola Na’os Yaakov, from operating its religious boarding school for advanced Jewish studies in Ocean Township, N.J. violates federal law.

It further required the Township to permit the Yeshiva to operate its educational institution with 80 students at 1515 Logan Road in Ocean Township.

This order ends the Yeshiva’s two-year struggle to locate its facility in the Township and vindicates its constitutional rights.

Bein hazmanim at the Beach

Lakewood is close proximity to the Jersey shore but for obvious tznius reasons most beaches are not accessible.  However there are some spots one can go to during off peak hours usually on the weekdays or in the evenings.
-Island beach state park - has usually just fishing during the week - exit 83 on the parkway. There is a fee to enter but you can find a private stretch.

-Mantoloking, drive down Cederbridge all the way go over a bridge Take the road after the bridge to the end  you hit rt 35 Make a right at the light  the road runs along the beach. To the left there are small side streets you can park for the beach. or you can park on side streets to the right. After 5-6 pm you can enter without a pass

 -Sandy Hook gateway national recreation area. This park is 45 minutes from Lakewood free entrance on weekdays  lots of beaches and during the week you can find lots of empty secluded areas as you go further out. Take rt 36 to the end. Picnic areas available.

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the untimely passing of 31 year old, Patrolmen Craig Lawson. Officer Lawson, the son of recently retired Chief of Police Robert Lawson, was hired by the Lakewood Police Department in April of 2014. After successfully completing the Ocean County Police Academy, he was assigned to the Patrol Division’s evening shift.

Bein Hazmanim begins in Lakewood

Schools are off for 6 weeks already, but for the youngeleit of Lakewood summer vacation begins today as they rest up before resuming for Elul Zman. During these weeks one experiences a feeling of what it used to or should be like. With thousands leaving for summer vacation  parking spots are easy to find, lines in stores are shorter, less traffic on the streets and there's a feeling of a calm and peace. This is what it feels like in out of town places on a daily basis. Enjoy it for now before the school season begins and the busing fiasco may take a while to straighten itself out.

 The minhag is not to eat meat or drink wine until Monday morning. However laundry and haircuts are permitted right away after the fast on Sunday night. To hear music its brought down to wait until the morning as well.

Motzei Shabbos the night of Tisha B'Av in shuls across Lakewood there will be gatherings  focusing on the "shidduch crisis" to join in sharing the pain of singles who can't find a shidduch. Signs posted said these initiatives are under the guidance of Rav Shmuel kaminetzky and the Viznitz dayan of Lakewood. It reads "there were never yomim tovim as TU B'Av when Jewish girls would find a zivug. Unfortunately they Are now in a Crisis As the mashgiach Rav Mattisyahu Solomon Quoted the Posuk in Eicha "Besoloiseha Nugois vehi Mar lah".

A fund raising Meeting was hosted by Mr. Rubin Schron regarding  the need to build schools for the chinuch of the thousands of children whose families have recently emigrated from France to Eretz Yisrael. Start drinking water today, The forecast over the weekend will be very hot and even more humid with steamy weather The combination of heat, high humidity, sunshine and other conditions will push  Temperatures above 100 F in much of the Northeast during the weekend. Sunday weather in Lakewood will be a high of 92 and reel feel of 109! The Torah world is plunged into morning with the petirah of The Mir Brachfeld Rosh Yeshiva and mashgiach of Mir Yerushalayim, Harav Aryeh Finkel Zatzal who was nifter after he collapsed a short while ago at his home in Modiin Illit, he was 85 years old. The Paroches in Yeshivas Mir Brachfeld was removed Levaya details TBA. His father was Rav Chaim Zev Finkel ZT'L a son of the Mir Rosh yeshiva Rav Lazer yudel ZT'L. The current mashgiach Rav Aaron Chodosh shlita is a brother in law he was married to Rav Aryeh Finkels sister who was nifteres 2 years ago. Rav Aryeh visited Lakewood just a few years ago and spoke at the annual evening of chizuk for Bais Medrash Govoha.

NJ Yeshivah Fights Zoning Denial in Federal Appeals Court

 Hamodia-In a case that has garnered much attention, Yeshivah Naos Yaakov’s ongoing battle to build its new campus in New Jersey’s Ocean Township has reached the federal appeals court in Trenton, where the first round of hearings already took place. While the township vigorously insists that the decision to block construction was based purely on neutral ordinances, supporters of the yeshivah argue that the permit denial was driven by general animus to the increasing presence of Orthodox Jews in towns surrounding Lakewood.

“This is bigotry masked as a zoning hearing, pure and simple,” said Roman P. Storzer, attorney for the yeshivah, in advance of the proceedings. “The situation that the yeshivah has faced here is exactly why Congress decided that RLUIPA’s protections are necessary.”

Team Lakewood has raised over $400,000 for Bike 4 chai. They will be biking to camp on Wednesday and Thursday August 3rd and 4th. Our objective is to raise at least $400,000 by then and we hope you will help us reach this goal. We will bike 180 miles through 3 states to Camp Simcha, an extraordinary overnight camp that gives children with cancer a vacation from sickness that restores their spirits and renews their determination to fight! The ride won't be easy, but neither is life for a child with cancer or other serious illness. Camp Simcha and its sister camp, Camp Simcha Special, are Chai Lifeline's flagship programs. Every year these two camps offer 420 children a chance to forget about illness and just be kids again.

Cant we all be on the same page?
Day camp begins to the relief of many working parents whose boys were home all week, the boys have finally started day camp. Other camps wont start for another week since its hard to get staff as the yeshivos finish the zman on Rosh chodesh. The camps all go for 4 weeks, meaning others will have the last week of summer vacation off. These different schedules between boys and girls camps make it difficult for working parents juggling work schedule and family vacation.
