Lakewood officials Concerned not Enough People vaccinating

Watch here minute 26:44 or below

Responding to a question why t he town hall in Lakewood is still closed the mayor said that it is due to safety concerns for the police officers who work in the building by not having members of the public there. There was a meeting yesterday at CHEMED with the Lakewood mayor, officials had concerns that there is less of a push for people  in town to vaccinate "we have to encourage them to get the shot the more people who are vaccinated the safer we will all be the more people who do not get vaccinated is more an opportunity for this virus to pass a  mutant .. different variant that may not work with the vaccine that was given out. It is all in our interest. We have to ask as many people as we know to put aside the concerns they have  and get vaccinated as soon as possible.

An ad in the Vivaser daily today quoted all 4 of the Lakewood yeshiva poskim who said not to take the shot yet since it is a new vaccine there may be long term effects that are not yet known and therefore shev veeal taaseh adif.

  1. It's ridiculous to look at the vaccine rate as an indicator because so many other factors could minimize a virus such as already-infected people. Viruses also go away on their own or become less lethal ( like flu). The only indicator that should be looked at is the amount of cases.

  2. Ok, so if we don't vaccinate, the building will be closed forever? Please clarify. Other towns are open. Is what you are saying is that Lakewood police are more paranoid than other towns and more concerned for their safety? Everytime there's a traffic stop or arrest the police are within 6 feet of people. We need to do the best we can and live normally. Enough of the stupidity of "we are scared to come near people mentality". That's not the police. They are brave folks.

  3. The only thing closed in Lakewood is the township. The public is kept away from meetings while they approve approve approve

Every other town in Ocean and Monmouth county is open for business even though their officers work inside the town hall building. Why is Lakewood the only township that came up with this creative excuse to operate government behind closed doors because we need to protect our police department from Covid?

Mayor Coles, nobody is buying it. You need to come up with something more creative.

  4. They are concerned about how to spend the 7 million dollar grant to push vaccines.

  6. So let me understand businesses and schools are fully open and are following CDC guidelines but yet when it comes to our township there is no guidance how to open and protect the cops who anyway are behind the glass and isolated in the station??
    Am I missing something?

  7. Please next meeting we need more concerned citizens asking why town hall is closed? Why are zoning and planning board meetings off limits to the public?

  9. They have no shame to make up stories. The powers to be want to keep the township closed to the public.

  10. Why was there no concern for police officers safety during the big protest for george floyd in Lakewood at the height of the pandemic.

  11. My Rav spoke directly with Rabbi Forchheimer this afternoon who stated that the ad you referenced in this article is Sheker. It is a fabrication and a made up lie and is not in anyway his position, which is to follow that of Rav Chaim and take the vaccine immediately!

  14. The letter has been out in different forms for some time, go ask those Poskim if they signed, & then get back here.
The anti vax people will commit fraud lshem shomayim, at least they think so. There are stories of those who wouldn't vaccinate in EY, because of antivax stuff, and nebach died.

  15. and then there are the stories of people who did vax in EY and died of a stroke caused by a blood clot caused by the vaccine. I know this first hand because it happened to my uncle zt"l who was a very healthy man.
Not that I'm taking a side. I'm not knowledgeable enough in Torah to have an opinion that should matter to anyone

    1. 'my uncle' is an anecdote, which proves nothing. People die suddenly every day. The fact is, there were no more sudden deaths in Israel after the vaccinations than before.
And even if you had a point, that doesn't give anyone the right to fabricate things in Rabbanim's names.

  16. The letter is a TOTAL FRAUD. Fake news in gantzen. All of the fraudulently quoted poskim strongly urge anyone without antibodies especially the high risk to vaccinate ASAP.
