Tuesday August 4 News Updates Lakewood

Roadways still blocked off with downed wires and trees detours in place
- House had high level of CO from generator that was not properly placed
-10:45 pm JCPL gives a 1am estimated time frame to some areas in Lakewood.
-9:30 pm Areas in Jackson got power, Central Holywood regent Power back on
-JCPL:  An army of 3,000 workers will be working 24/7 to restore service to customers, with an additional 1,200 resources joining the restoration effort.
-9:00 pm More areas have power restored on rt9 south Pine Marc area.
-Smell of smoke from warehouse fire on Prospect street
-8:00 pm JCP&L restores power to some areas in Lakewood for 2000 customers no time given for restoration.

- 3rd largest power outage in history courtesy of Isaias behind only Sandy and Irene for the metro region.
-  lines up to 1 hour wait to order at some fast food locations. You can use a gas grill if you have one or a stove top that runs on gas.
-6:00 pm: JCP&L & contractor crews are being staged in Jackson Twp, Oceanport & Livingston
-Murphy: Some of these outages may last for a few days due to the severity of the storm. We are working closely with the utilities to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
-A full freezer will keep the temperature for approximately 48 hours (24 hours if it is half full) if the door remains closed. A refrigerator will keep food cold for about 4 hours if it is unopened.

- 5:00 pm- JCP&L: The restoration effort for  Tropical Storm Isaias will include assistance from  FirstEnergy sister utilities as well as 1,800 outside resources crews are unable to work in buckets when the wind is in excess of 35 mph. As the weather calms down, crews will continue to assess damage in order to provide restoration times.

-Lakewood Planning board meeting cancelled but LDC meeting proceeded on schedule.
-4:00 pm 1.3 million in NJ without power including 698k in Ocean county. No update on power restoration time. Lakewood down to 14000.

-2:30 pm Sun is out as storm moves north. Estimated restoration time still not available as 661,557 customers in Ocean county with no power over 15,000 in Lakewood,  47,000 in TR, 17,000 in Jackson

-1:20 pm: JCP&L- More than 50 percent of customers in Ocean county without power: 14,500 in Lakewood without power. 16,247 in Jackson, 42,000 in Toms River,15,170 in Howell, 21,354 in Brick
-Fire in tree on Pine street traffic lights out downed wires and trees.
- 20 percent of JCP&L customers in Ocean county without power over 6000 in Lakewood without electricity.

- Confirmed tornado located over Barnegat
Emergency Alert: Phones in Lakewood received a Alert from the National Weather service of A Tornado Warning in the area until 11:30 am. Residents are told to seek shelter in a basement or interior room on the lowest floor. If in a vehicle move to closest substansial shelter.

-Lights flickering and brownouts reported

-Tornado WATCH extended to include ALL of New Jersey until 4 pm. A WATCH means conditions are favorable, a WARNING means you need to take immediate action to shelter. If a WARNING pops up, act. Right now just be aware.

- N.J. coronavirus quarantine travel advisory adds Rhode Island. List now at 34 states and Puerto R toico.

-Group of  6 BMG youngeleit and their rosh kollel returned from Berlin, Germany after founding a  kollel  3 years ago.  The kollel started in December of 2017 and  was situated in the Skoblo Center, the home of the Khal Adas Yisroel shul where there's a young Russian community.. The community is hoping to recruit and send a 2nd group this coming January.

-Jackson Planning board approved application for the Aisle 9 Grocery on East Veterans across from te Wawa

-Along the shore, winds of 45 to 55 mph with gusts from 65 to 75 mph are possible. Winds inland are expected to reach 35 to 45 mph with gusts of around 50 to 60 mph.

-South Jersey will begin feeling Isaias’ effects by mid-morning as heavy rain and strong winds start to lash the state. North Jersey can expect rain to start later this morning with conditions beginning to deteriorate around noon. Some heavy rain started earlier along the Delaware River.

- Plasma drive in the Catskills will take place this Today, August 4, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., at the Raleigh Hotel in South Fallsburg, New York. This drive is for the donation of actual plasma; this is not antibody testing.

- state of Emergency declared in NJ all state offices are closed
