Lakewood BOE Programs and operations closed for tomorrow Due to Fiscal situation, special BOE meeting called

This was posted on the Lakewood school district website informing all parents that there would be no school programs or operations tomorrow as of July 1 besides those that are required for health and safety by the NJ DOE. The school year has already ended this is referring to after school summer programs or other district provided special ed schools and programs. After Gov. Murphy signed the budget that stripped Lakewood  school district of $30 million, local officials refuse to sign the BOE budget which was approved on condition of getting the state aid. A Board meeting is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 7:30 am. There is a conference call taking place now for parents to call in 732-994-2635 pin #  5553131
Resolutions:
-The Lakewood BOE declares the budget approved on June 24, 2019 to be “null and void” and;

- Superintendent to furlough non-essential staff until resolution of the issues
-To operate only those programs mandated by NJDOE required for health and safety

  1. This is a case of the boy who cries wolf too many times, the theatrics and public spectacles are no longer effective. Sate officials don't seem to care much about it.

    1. I disagree. State officials don't care much, because they never felt any pressure. There should have been 20,000 students protesting in Trenton 3 years ago

  2. After school programs are not recognized or considered Thorough and Efficient per the State of NJ Dept of ED no matter how loud one screams or believes that it is or should be. This point was made very clear by the last meeting

  3. They only agreed to give the $30 million thanks to the selfless askanus of Mr. Arthur Lang who filed an ongoing lawsuit against the state. The PR and other drama queen acts are a PR stunt for relevancy but does not bring home the bacon.
