Former Labor Government minister in the Knesset and now head of the Jewish Agency paid a visit to the Lakewood Yeshiva today, he tweeted about his visit:Glad to visit the great Lakewood Yeshiva (NJ), headed by Rabbi Aron Kotler. His grandfather Rabbi Aron Kotler and my grandfather Rabbi Isaac Herzog were illustrious leaders & friends. Serving our people is a great cause and nice to see how it passes from generation to generation.

Rav Aharon was able to send his future daughter-in-law money through the Red Cross. Rebbitzen Rischel was able to occasionally communicate to Reb Shneur through Rav Herzog who was in Ankara, Turkey at the time.
At Rav Herzog's funeral, see photo below Rabbi Aharon Kotler eulogized him as a “prince,” and spoke of his extraordinary Torah scholarship.

The Yeshiva is headed by the Roshei Hayeshiva Shlita.While R' Aron is a choshuve descendant of Rav Aron ztz"l, he is at the helm of the Administration.

What a Bizayon to bring this guy into the heiliger yeshiva. he openly and proudly supports chilul shabbos and boasted how he was the first to build a reform shul in eretz Yisrael.

If he was a secular Jewish American politician who was also guilty of the above BUT was fighting for an increase in money to the Lakewood very few people would have issues with such things.
Deleteit's really sad to see how a grandson of a great man has fallen so far from Torah and Yiddishkeit. The Brisker Rov once said that "the apple does not fall far from the tree" only applies in times of normal winds. when there is a tornado - i.e. turbulent times - the apple sometimes does fall far from the tree

ReplyDeleteיושב ראש הסוכנות היהודית יצחק הרצוג ביקר היום (שלישי), בישיבת ליקווד בארה"ב במסגרת סבב פגישות עם יהודי העולם.
בתיעוד בלעדי שהגיע לידי 'בחדרי חרדים', נצפה הרצוג מסייר יחד עם מנהל הישיבה אהרון קוטלר ברחבי הישיבה תוך שהוא משוחח עם בחורי הישיבה על לימודיהם.
בפגישה השתתף גם הרב פנחס דונר, רב הקהילה האורתודוקסית של 'בוורלי הילס', שבין היתר ידוע כמומחה לכתבי סבו של הרצוג, הרב שמואל יצחק הילמן זצ"ל.
במהלך הסיור הציג מנהל הישיבה את ההספד שנשא סבו ר' אהרן קוטלר ז"ל, על סבו של הרצוג, הרה"ר לשעבר יצחק הרצוג, לאחר שהלך לעולמו.
בשיחה עם 'בחדרי חרדים' שיתף הרצוג את תחושתיו על הביקור הנדיר ואמר: "בישיבה לומדים כיום 7000 תלמידים שיושבים ולומדים ורבים רבים, גם עובדים ורבים ממשיכים גם לאקדמיה וגם לעולם התורה".
"העיר בת 85 אלף תושב מרביתם חרדים. הרב קוטלר ואני עברנו באולמות הלימוד, שוחחנו עם הצעירים וגם ביקרנו במרכז של מוסדות גור במקום".
כזכור, הרצוג ששימש עד לא מסמן כיושב ראש האופוזיציה נכנס לתפקידו כיושב ראש הסוכנות היהודית ובימים אלו מבקר הרצוג בקהילות יהודיות בעולם שם הוא פוגש את רבני ומנהלי הקהילות.
