Tehillim for Gezeiras Giyus Banos in BMG

Tehillim will be recited today in all botei Medrashim of Bais Medrash Govoha in Lakewood due to proposed changes in the deferments for girls pertaining to the Draft law. There is serious concern the new pending legislation will cause revoking the Ptur from Jewish girls in certain cases.

  3. Harav Chaim Bressler has requested that is be publicized that he DID NOT sign the letter as it has been published. He signed a different letter and his name was used for this. I've heard the same from Rav Elya Kanarek too

  6. I don't understand
What are the proposed changes to Giyus Banos??
Why don't you explain? This way we can all understand what to daven for????
I don't know the particulars but the discussion is about what to do with girls who are Proven to not be religious and lied about religion to avoid the army. The army currently has no remedy for this. These changes have already been voted on in th Kenesset and has been approved for around 7-8 years. It is now just getting ready to be implemented. Although religious parties voted against it. It was't treated as a major issue at all. As a matter of fact the Isaeli Yated (who's editor at the time is the current editor of the Peleg newspaper) wrote In it's article about the vote (on page 14!) כי החוק במתכונתו כפי שאושר אינו פוגע כלל בבנות דתיות, אלא רק בבנות שהצהירו הצהרת שקר "the law does NOT in any way affect the status of religious girls.

    1. re: 7-8 years. ..... Isaeli Yated (who's editor at the time is the current editor of the ____ newspaper):
As a matter of fact; the editor (who was placed there and kept the position By Maran Harav Shach and Maran Harav Elyashiv ob"m) did not have much of a say at that time. As even a letter Written by Maran Harav Elyashiv Z"L had some words omitted, as well as many other topics that were not covered for various reasons even when it was clear what the Daas Torah of Maran Harav Shach and Maran Harav Elyashiv Z"L.

  7. Verified with Rabbi Bressler & Rabbi Kenarick that the wording was not changed and they stand by their signatures. More lies and demagoguery from the thugs and bullies in Bnay Braq. The above quote from the Yated 7 years ago has nothing to due with the current issue. Two different issues.
Reb Dovid Salavaichick and Reb Yisrael Yitzchock Kalmanovich came out with scathing attacks on the current Knesset members for negotiating these Psharos. Reb Dovid said they have no yiras Shamayim. Reb YY said they are terrorizing any one disagreeing with them. Bottom line is they don't consult with the gedolim any more.
