    1. It is not a problem because 27 years is a stupid sentence for such a crime and there is nothing wrong with Sticking it in Judge Linda Reads face I hope she is stewing with anger

    2. All this publicity is unfortunately more fuel for anti semitism. Genug shoin.

    1. It’s sad that Pnimius Hatorah/Chassidus makes you sweat.

    2. It's not pnimius. It's B's.

    3. Pnimiyus HaTorah is not the problem. It is the party attitude, the infallibility of a college graduate, the nonsense prattled in the name of chassidus that is the problem.
Hint: in the writings of the first five lubavitcher Rebbes, no hint is to be found of hiskashrus

My guess is that no ziknei Roshei Yeshiva will be at this event.
In light of the past summers events, the irony of a federally convicted person`s release being celebrated in Lakewood will not be missed by the general media.
I am sure that some speaker who wants a good crowd reaction will stoke the oilam with silly anti-government rhetoric -there is always some genius who has nothing better to offer other than prattling about that ( befrat if we consider that the speaker himself , his kids or his best friends are probably beneficiaries of the government ).
There is no need at this point for any notoriety.

  9. I understand that this may be a collection opertunity, because conditions demand restitution, at this point he isn't a man of means.
However, the oilam Hatorah in Eretz Yisroel is now (after Chanuckah) morning the passing of the Godol Hador, both Chasidim & yeshivos Sefardi & Aschkenazi. Even though he left a will no eulogies, the gedolei hador say that being that was for his family, other say we don't listen & we must eulogize him.
It embarrasses me, although the simcha is great,(lets not kid ourselves, he did break the law, possibly everyone does to some extent, because the laws contradict each other. However he got caught) .I agree the sentence was excessive, at that rate the Clinton crime family should get multiple life sentences. Nevertheless it isn't good that our Rabbis condone those crimes, & have yet to announce the big hesped, for our real hefsed. Which comes first? I am ashamed.

  10. Did anyone ask any Gadol if this should take place in Lakewood with the climate that's out there. We don't need more APP coverage!
Maybe let's make it in BMG and keep it low key!

  11. This is the first time I'm seeing on hefkervelt on any other Lakewood blog so many comments about not doing something because we are in Golus and how will the goyim perceive our behavior etc.

  12. Why was it canceled

  13. Speaking of keeping low key, this whole blog is giving the APP and the anti-semites ammunition. You think they don’t read this and FAA???? Just because you feel that others are doing something wrong, doesn’t mean you should. This blog is wrong!!!
As for Reb Sholom Mordechai, I think it’s appropriate to publicly celebrate his Emunah, there is no question, he was a Korbon for the Tzibur. We did something wrong, and he was punished. (Just like the other korbonos we have in Lakewood). We should celebrate and learn from it. Maybe we should strengthen our emuna a little more. I am excited for him to come and to see a Godol in Emuna.

    1. Why is he a korbon for the tzibur? He cheated. He ran his business illegally. When the feds can to investigate instead of trying to fix his ways he spit in their faces. He did this to himself. Was his sentence excessive? Yes but remember he had clowns from 770 making demonstrations in Iowa and threatening the judge. Don’t put this as a guilt trip on the tzibur. He was his worst enemy and should take full responsibility for getting himself into trouble.

    2. Your point is correct. Publicity created the problem. Don't exacerbate it. Homeopathic quacks claim 'like cures like'. Facts don't.

If we want to help Samet, we should tone this one down

    3. It’s very simple. He may have done things that were technically illegal like the law that you need to pay for cattle within 24 hours, no one in today’s day and age pays before 39 days. Also, the prosecutor meddled in the bankruptcy proceedings in order to maximize the loss. That’s just the beginning. There’s also the fact that his Emuna was unbelievable, something we can all learn from. I would love him to go around and give Chizuk to people all over the world.

Also, one more point that you ignore, is the fact that this forum is worse for us then any Asifa he might be at.

  14. Anon 5:48,

Besides all the discrepancies that Judge Linda Reade did, Do a Search. Find anyone who was punished anything comparable to what Rubashkin suffered. That's besides the fact that Linda Reade went after the giyores, Wendy Runge.

Suffering Stockholm Syndrome?? Read in the past too many Orthodox bashing sites??

If he and them are guilty , it's on an entirely different Front.

Shortly before the Rubashkin and Runge Cases,Iowa became the very first State in the Midwest and the Plains that the State Courts
    Ruled Against Marriage.

Did it elicit any protest whatsoever from the yidden dwelling there??
