Lakewood Yeshiva postpones Chanukah Mesiba

The Chanukah Mesiba in BMG that was to take place tonight was postponed due to the Petirah of Rav Shteinman zatzal. It will take place next week the 7th night of Chanukah in the Beren hall. Harav Yaakov Busel shlita Rosh Yeshiva of Edison will be the guest speaker along with the RY Rav Dovid Schustal Shlita.
In Eretz Yisrael  Rav Chaim Kanievsky said they should minimize chanuka events during the shiva.

    1. Chanuka is 8 days Purim is only 1 day also Purim has a mitzvas hayom there is no Mitzva to make chanuka parties.

      Everyone felt the loss and maybe you should have some derech eretz and not question R Chaim.

  2. Purim. The seudas Purim is,a mitzvah hayom. There is no mitzvah to have Chanukah parties.

  3. I certainly do remember that many Yeshivos canceled their Purim Mesibos after Rav Moshe was niftar.

    Not only that (for example ) not only did Torah Vodaas cancel their Purim mesibo they had already been planning to make it without music because Rav Yaakov had been niftar two weeks before

  4. If there is no mitzva in chanuka parties/ mesibos then why have them altogether? Its stam a waist of yiddishe gelt and bitul torah according to Your logic?

    1. Don't show your Am'aratzus in public . Paskened in Shu"a that there is no mitzvah. (There are other opinions)
