WestGate Yes Lakewood commons NO

Submitted.
It all comes down to who you know and who is stronger that is the unfortunate system in Politics and Lakewood operates the same way. At the township committee meeting last night an Ordnance was passed turning North Crest street in West Gate to a one way only. That was not the recommendation by traffic and safety at the sneaky meeting 2 days before Pesach. The opinion was to enforce traffic and not extend the one way all the way through. NO public hearings took place and township officials did not take a vote or get the input of ALL residents who live on that street. Some of those pushing for it don't even live in Westgate any more but they have friends in High places. It may or may not be a good idea to have it go one way but the way they went bout it stinks

On the other hand a petition by Lakewood commons residents asking the town to reinstate parking on one side of the street was rejected in the workshop meeting because traffic safety and others don't want it. Too bad they don't have the right connections.

  1. Are shuls allowed in Lakewood Commons? I hear they don't even let shuls in WG! They voted for the vaad but from the fights there about shuls they are definitely NOT united. Maybe the vaad should get involved because they say they're working to unite Lakewood.

  2. I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for Lakewood Commmons residents. Not that I have anything against them, the people I know that live there are great people, but they are living their tax free, which means that the rest of the town is covering their expenses.

Not the residents fault, but in an effort to score some PR points, the powers that be made a Lakewood commons, where a few lottery winners get a free ride on taxes, and everyone else pays

    1. Where do you get your info from ? The comments on the APP? Every house in Lakewood commons pays taxes

    2. Why in the world do you think they don't pay taxes?! The project sold at a discount because it was affordable housing but they still pay taxes!

    3. Please explain what tax free means.

    4. They pay taxes but nothing close to the average homeowner. The assessed value of a home in Lakewood commons is lower so they pay much cheaper taxes.

If you have an ax to grind go complain about Yesodei court it's all tax free.

    5. They have a lower assessment because it is deed restricted.just like trump did for his golf courses.part of the value of real estate besides the present use is any future profit when it appreciates. if you dont have that value, it is worth less

    6. check your facts yesodei ct isn't all tax free. some people who dont live there tried to make it that way though

  3. So now the very same people who pushed for N Crest 1 way will now continue to drive recklessly to shul. They blow through the 3 way stop sign almost hitting people and have the chutzpah to speak at the town and talk about kids getting killed. North crest will now be turned into a speedway.
    Thank you Menasha and commitee
    Thank you Mayor of Jule

  5. If people in Westgate really care about safety they shouldn't let their kids play unsupervised in busy parking lots. Last Friday I had to pick something up there. This kid playing basketball in the parking lot who SAW my car moving still ran backwards in front of it to get a ball.

    1. What are you talking about? WG is no different than any other development in that respect. It's one of the dangers of developments but where do you want the kids to play? The parking lot is their backyard. The cars have to be very careful and if possible avoid driving in the parking lots during the day.

    2. The WG Mafia are fighting with each other over this but there will always be a common enemy.

    3. EVERYONE in WG agreed about this. There are just some people who like to claim others are fighting because they think it helps their agenda.

    4. NOONE in WG agreed to it besides a few guys that are pushing for it for 10 years. The busing excuse is a new bluff.

    5. Everyone in WG agrees that it's a good idea. There is no logical reason to oppose it. You may not like the people who are pushing it but it's still a good idea.

    6. Mr. Raitzik doesn't agree to the one way street, and he actually lives there!

    7. Most residents on N Crest are opposed to it too

    8. I spoke to ALL NC residents and EVERYONE agreed that it's a good idea. Besides if you oppose it why didn't you come voice your opposition?

  8. Westgaters if you have an issue with north crest being 1 way, blame all those people who pro illegally on both sides of the street. Parking is only legal on 1 side.

I actually understand why they made it 1 way. There isn't enough parking there (duh) so you need all the spots on the street. Therefore the only solution, as it's not possible to widen the road, is to make it 1 way. If you don't like it be smart and fight every new weatgate application that comes to any board without 5 spots per unit. That will possibly help alleviate some of the parking and traffic woes.

  9. Non comprendo. According to the comments the Westgate mayor does not live in Westgate. so why does he care about this

    1. True, the WG mayor doesn't live in WG and neither do some other cronies of his who are trying to control everything. These guys are also taking up seats in shul while people in WG can't get seats.
