Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno: Lakewood’s Funding problems could be eliminated if the state fixed school funding formula

APP reports- In a Facebook Live interview with the Press last week, Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno maintained that Lakewood’s perpetual funding problems could be eliminated if the state simply fixed its inequitable school funding formula, which has long provided aid to many school districts that don’t deserve it, and denied it to those who need it the most.

If the Legislature and Gov. Chris Christie can’t arrive at a revised funding formula prior to the June 30 deadline for passage of the 2017-18 budget, something else must be done to help Lakewood. There must be a change in the way the district’s school aid is calculated. The district needs a permanent fix, not a series of loans it will never be able to pay off.

State Sen. Robert Singer has asked the state for a “carve out” — an exception to the school funding formula similar to the one accorded to Atlantic City that recognizes its unique circumstances. Lakewood should accept nothing less.

  1. please advise which gubernatorial candidate should be getting my vote? I heard that Kim sold out to the VAAD and special interests, but Rullo seems anti-semitic/anti-other, but at least more on a level playing field?

  2. I think you should vote for the Anti Semitic ones. It seems that done people have such a sinah to the Vaad and to the Roshe Yeshiva that control the vaad ,that they will vote for anybody else no matter how bad they are to us.

    1. You must be a vaad guy. The only one who sees sinah is you what you fail to comprehend is how angry and upset the olam is for being taken advantage of year after year.
For having the koach harabim abused for personal gain of a few individuals who made money and gained power on our backs.
The Roshei yeshiva have no control over the vaad and told numerous people privately that they have no say on what goes on there. Their letter is a formality that they have to put out but most of us who saw the inner workings of what vaad has done are not fooled.
Vote out the incumbents vote out the Vaad. Give Lakewood back to its youngeleit.
