  6. Extremely dangerous! The devil you don't know may be much worse than the devil you don't know.

    1. Does the candidate have any record of success in anything? Or is he trying to start a career over here? Let people practise on someone else.

    2. Does the candidate have any history of underhanded tactics, bullying and making a fuss with no plan as to how to go further?

    3. Is the candidate's manifesto positive in any way? What will he/she actually do? Not what are they against.

The Va'ad wants their opposition to be either lemech'ls or wild characters who are even less appealing to the public than their entrenched interests. Let us tell the new generation of askonim and wannabe askanim, if you want to help, fine. But do not use us to take revenge, make trouble or figure out who you are. We are not your playthings any more than we are the Va'ad's playthings. (As an aside, nasty messiros get you nowhere. Take the high road)

  7. Other than keeping the anti establishment crowd happy by running against the VAAD endorsed candidates, what else are the other candidates claiming they will do and more importantly how do they plan to do it?

  8. Chevra, lets not loose focus here the point is its time to send the incumbants packiing they have been here for too long and brought this mess upon us. However if we are not united the vaad will continue to control the politicians for their personal favors. Is unfortunate there are no term limits and the only way to replace them is at the ballot box. The vaad will sign up all new talmidim who dont pay a dime of property tax and tell them who to vote for the only way to counter is to have a united front and all tax payers line up behind a designated candidate. Let the process play itself out and we should all vote. A split vote guarantees a vaad win if we are united we can make Lakewood great again.

    1. I'm not losing focus.

Bottom line is I'm NOT voting for someone just because he is against the VAAD and can articulate what is wrong with Lakewood.

Such people usually only make things worse when they get into office.

    2. Anyone is better than the current puppets who are beholden to their masters and can no longer represent the people who put them in office in the first place.
Let the candidates state their issues and let the voters decide with their own minds who to vote for.

    3. Anyone is better.....

Can you substantiate that? Is worse not possible? You must be really naive if you think a so called honest newbie will automatically be better than our incumbents. There are plenty of stupid things such a person can do, but you won't be seeing them because none of these newbies will actually win anything

    4. worse is not possible, there is a reason for term limits. The last 15 years was full of corruption doing favors for buddies and ignoring the needs and quality of life of the tzibbur while at the same time taxes are sky high and traffic is out of hand.
It's time for new young blood to step in and take over. You can call them newbies and inexperienced which are actually two good pluses that the voters are looking for. What we have now is experienced incumbents who have been in office too long they are experienced politicians who abused the power given to them to help a select few on the backs of the hard working tax payers.

  9. The goal of some people is to knock the Vaad and Bmg. Whatever it takes to do that is what they will do ,regardless of whether the new guys will be better or not.

    1. There you go with the spin anyone who is upset about the town is automatically against bmg.
The self appointed vaad are only clinging to power because there is too much $$$$ and power.
The Vaad had to go and be replaced with new members that will be appointed by the entire tzibbur.

    2. Bmg runs the Vaad.you are entitled to your opinion but hurting the Vaad is hurting Bmg.

    3. As we have seen, BMG isn't even being run by BMG.

  10. There is a reason why the LAC (remember them?)doesn't exist anymore (hint: my taxes still went up and the school monitor and the busing issues started after they were elected into office)but some people will vote for anyone as long as they are anti establishment.

  11. What can the VAAD show for themselves? ??
The days of shifting blame are over. They must take fill responsibility and resign.

  12. Ahron please campaign on your own merits not by disqualifying others. You & Travis can make a great team & help Lakewood get back on its feet.

A candidate that is trying to get elected by any means necessary is not an option. A candidate that is new to Lakewood and has no understanding of the political monster he is trying to infiltrate is also not an option.
We have four people to vote for in the primaries to ensure the entrenched yes men are removed, that are honest and want to help make a change for the better.

  15. The vaad put us in the current position we are in. Their refusal to meet Christie when he first ran has caused a tremendous hezek to the olam. It was a dangerous gamble that backfired big time but the vaad gat utopian dreams with ceasrbridge and went all in with Corzine.
