  2. But now we are stuck with the payoffs to build the mall such as the Blueclaws, the Digital Billboards that will be a sakanah Ruchniyus and Gashmiyus of serious safety concerns. How are children supposed to know that these billboards are muttar to look at but other ones could be not tzniusdik. What if another company buys out the bill board company than who controls the content?

This was an awful day for Lakewood . The chillul hashem that was caused by this fight, and the misinformation that the media is spreading is dangerous and damaging to us all. ..........Tomorrow it will all hit the fan and I don't think it will be easy to explain.
Now I understand what R' SHTEIMAN was talking about. He said it will end terribly and to stay away......

  7. The chilul Hashem was caused by tlb spreading the petition to the media.

Tbl posted it to show the fierce opposition from the yeshiva community. Nj101.5 took it from there and assumed that the letter and petition were linked. Tbl removed it immediately when they realized what happened .
Ultimately ,this awful chillul hashem, which has only just begun, was caused by one small group of profiteers. This should be the last straw . The cedarbridge controversy has been a thorn in Lakewoods side for almost 20 years. It's time to give it back to the township and let it be left alone.

  9. The media will find whatever it wants I'm order to make us look bad. They did it all week long before the letter was posted online. The letter was written by one anonymous person it was not part of the petition. NJ101.5 Twisted a story and spread it because that's what they do. shame on them. Did they do the same when Jackson tried to pass a dorm ban directing it to keep a certain population away? No It's always better for ratings to report on lakewood and smear the community.

  10. The person who wrote the letter and posted it online was gourem a huge chilul Hashem.people don't realize what they are doing. The comments on these blogs are also monitored

  11. Sorry, that stupid petition/ sign exists. Anti semitism is not the point here.
We have a new generation of self appointed askanim, whom nobody would do business with or be meshadech with (thank H-shem for taking care of that) who are now representing us. These characters are certainly no better than the old guard. In fact, the old guard actually built schools while making money off the tzibbur. These new guys have done nothing for anybody and now they have caused serious damage to all of us.
I would prefer a mall to this mess.

  12. I wonder if the 101.5 piece is what made the developer think twice. I don't think it would help the people who represent lkwd out in the world.

  13. Do people have a short memory wen just a few years ago someone went to the NY Post with a story about a GET no one screamed then about the chilul hashem it created. This petition and letter that was posted had nothing to do with the petition and it was not sent to the press, were as the NY Post article was deliberately sent and resulted in the international media making fun of Toras Moshe and hilchos Gittin. But no one yelled than no one made a machha...

What are people thinking? That they are hocking in the (non existent) Bais Eliyohu coffee room? Before you talk online online you have to think about how will an outsider (mis)perceive my comments?

  15. Everybody was angry then also. Most people don't get involved to make machaas. Nobody is making a machaa now either. We are just commenting that he caused a huge chilul Hashem for which there is no Takanah.

  16. All I can say is that the tumult and chilul Hashem caused by these types of things , hurts us far more than any mall or traffic. People think that the ends justifies the means. If they feel that a project is causing traffic or other things, then they can do whatever it takes to stop it. They don't realize the ramifications of how our town is getting destroyed from the machlokes and chilul Hashem. Even if they are right in opposing these projects in general , the hezek to our town from the pirsum and machlokes and Chilul Hashem is so huge. Sometimes its better to swallow some things than to cause a huge Chilul Hashem.

    1. So maybe if the twnshp committe and vaad would have listened to the people in the first place things would not have come to this

    2. Agree. It's ridiculous that we needed a chilul hashem to stop this.

  17. The damage is NOT because people opposed the mall, it's because the petition didn't mention traffic which was the main issue!!! There was no reason to mention non Jews opening stores.

    1. The petition didn't mention who would be opening stores - the petition didn't state any specific reasons. That was a separate letter that was attached to the petition in error.

    2. traffic was not the main issue. maybe it was for PRV, but not for the bnei hayeshiva.

  18. You are not understanding. All some of us are saying is that we understand the opposition to the mall and opposition to other things. Unfortunately, the opposition creates an atmosphere where people do not think of the ramifications of what they are doing and they write things on petitions ,blogs etc that have very detrimental results for our kehila. They are rodfim without realizing what they did. These negative things are far worse for us than any traffic or other issues as they affect the way we are looked at andt treated by the outside world and cause a Chilul Hashem for many years to come. Just because some people might he creating traffic or other issues ,dies not necessarily mean we have to create a bigger Chilul Hashem while we fight them.

  19. Let's not condemn the victims here. BMG tried plowing, pushing & stuffing down the throats, a plan that will have adverse affects on our community. They knew for a while that the town was against it & pushed through anyway until they realized they will loose. They forced many in to a corner leaving them no other option then singing a petition. This does not condone the שוטה who leaked it to the media. But let's not condemn the victims here. Hopefully they will now realize that the community will not follow them blindly because theyou are getting or once got a measly $80 a week from them. They will have to start doing FOR THE COMMUNITY.

  20. the damage was because all lakewood residents had enough of being trampled on by the powers to be. tell cedarbridge that the end($$$$) doesnt justify the means. enough is enough. they got the land for ($) and are killing the town with the other special interests developers. they caused the chilul h-shem. they caused the traffic. they dragged the entire population into the media mess, is this what the RY Shlita needs to be busy with? who caused this? we all know the answer

  21. The next petition should be for term limits on the Township committee.
Harold can you please clarify what needs to be done to get this on the ballot as a ballot measure

We need to daven for a yeshua. I wouldn't know where to begin. A certain person has caused such a web of corruption that it might take years to unravel what he has woven.

  22. Nobody is saying cedarbridge is right. Thats not the point. The bottom line is that one individual who appointed himself the Askan and blogger to save our town ,put something on his anonymous blog which caused a huge Chilul Hashem. No amount of explanations will rectify that. The damage is done. Even if he was a shogeg it is a tremendous CHILUL Hashem.

  23. The traffic and over development is THE CAUSE for the anti-Lakewood sentiment.

If not for that, you wouldn't have people running to the WSJ, NJ.Com or 101.5. No one would care about Lakewood.

The traffic and over development is THE root for all the problems, aside for the seniors, it effects 10's of thousands of people daily who drive through route 9.

So everyone who is blaming someone who is trying to put an end to it needs a reality check.

  24. There are a number of issues at play.
    1. Overdevelopment sans adequate road infrastructure, and the resulting traffic nightmare.
    2. What used to me an idyllic Makom Torah relatively free of materialism, an ideal place for spiritual growth, has become a symbol of gashmius.
    3. The Township granted a large parcel of land to BMG to be developed in a beneficial manner to the residents of Lakewood. This is not happening.
    4. Township officials aka public servants, are anything but.
    5. The yeshiva and its Vaad are perceived as serving the yeshiva to the detriment of the rest of the residents.
    Etc.

  25. The seniors are the root of the traffic problems. They took land that was zoned for a 100 or 200 houses at most and developed it into houses for 10000 people. It is the biggest hypocrisy for them to open their mouth about overdevolopment. The senior coimmunities are extremely dense and were not zoned for that density before the seniors came to town. What chutzpah.

    1. Yes and they drive tons and are busy clogging up the nine to go shopping on clifton ave. Iber chuchum most towns love seniors without them our tax bill would be quadruple.

    3. It is past April Fools day. If the seniors were the cause of the traffic, then why are the peak congestion hours when the schools start?

  26. They use Rav Yeruchem when it suits them. He definitely does not agree with putting any of these issues online or the creation of the blogs that bashmutz people. But for those things they have their own opinions and don't ask Rav Yerucham.
