Cedarbridge:
One of the items in the plan review section is a retail shopping center for Cedarbridge (AKA BMG) with 197K SQFT (and another 197K SQFT basement) (yes that's huge) and 877 parking spaces across from Pine River Village at the corner of Pine St and Ave of the Americas. Assuming that the basements are just storage and not more retail, while the parking is sufficient, it gives you an idea of the traffic that this will generate crippling Pine St even further.  It will be made up of 13 retail buildings, 2 pavilions, a stage and a playground. Another plan review item is for a 75,000 SQFT office building and daycare center in Cedarbridge which is being (sold by Cedarbridge?) built by a different entity. See here for more details. 
While initial plans were for a high tech corporate business center to be built bringing large global companies to Lakewood and many jobs and tax dollars, at this point it looks like we'll be looking at a lot of shopping centers (much heavier traffic), some office buildings, (and possibly housing??) all on land that was given away for free. It is noteworthy that in the past few Township Committee meetings there were some resolutions related to Cedarbridge.

  1. I am confused about something. I thought Lakewood Township already gave the land away? If so, why are they listed as the owners on the application?

    1. They are still owners until it actually gets developed.

    2. Exactly. Lakewood township owns the land and when it gets developed it is transferred to Cedarbridge.

  5. Can someone plz tell me if lakewood will see ratables (taxes) from these offices or there's some arrangement on an abatement....

    1. NO there is a 30 year abatement for Erez holding which is a subsidiary of Cederbridge. LTC consulting received a $25 million dollar grant to bring jobs and they are building in Cedarbridge on free township land.

From Takeback lakewood...BMG had an application to build a 200,000 SQFT shopping center with 13 buildings (and 200,000 sqft basement) with 877 parking spots across from Pine River Village at the corner of Pine and Ave of the Estates. The man being told off is a member of the Vaad who was representing BMG on the application. Several dozen residents of Pine River Village attended the meeting and a lawyer was hired to oppose the application. This was just the plan review meeting, the public hearing will take place in a few weeks.

    3. Yes the video, the moment someone realized that Lakewood is not what they thought it was. For most of us, that happens gradually over a long period of time, and we are slowly acclimated to it. To become aware of it all at once can be very shocking to the system

What bothers me more than anything is that the yeshiva is constantly dictating to us how to live our lives in line w/ the Torah (banning zusman etc. ) but when it comes to people's quality of life no torah matters at all (maybe bec of the $ in it for them) just bec it's 'legal' and within the lines of the law doesn't mean people's concerns aren't valid. I live very close to where this Shopping center is to be built and would be furious and I also feel bad for my relatives in the area that feel hopeless. Thankfully I won't be living in such congestion for much longer

    1. It doesn't make sense. The Roshei Yeshiva are Yarei Shamayim and Talmidei Chachamim, I know they rely on bad sources for their info, but at some point they have to be aware of what's going on.

  8. Cedarbridge, oy what have you brought to our town? a baseball stadium with proffesional games all summer long, Large colorfull bill boards with pritzus next to schools that have 3000 children. Rock concerts with nivul Peh blaring for all nearby areas to hear during aseres yemei teshuva, now a goyish shopping area with out door stages and what not. Thats just the Ruchniyus part. Traffic, quality of life, people are waking up.
