A block vote for All

This weeks issues of the local Lakewood papers, had articles about the civic duty to vote but more so,it stressed the importance of having a unified block vote. The power of a united block vote is essential to the politicians as much as it is to the constituents who vote. Over the years through the power of the Lakewood tzibbur voting block, we were able to properly advocate for the unique needs of the community which was beneficial to all. However the current system has allowed self proclaimed spokespersons and askanim to present themselves to politicians as representatives of the community and thereby using the koach hatzibbur for personal gain. The tzibbur no longer has trust in an establishment that does not reach out to everyone. A Vaad that signs an anonymous letter, telling you who to vote for is insulting and belittling to the entire tzibbur. To hold closed door meetings without public input and no transparency, just further creates a mistrust and bad feelings. Putting up candidates for BOE who no one heard of, without reaching out to the public, makes a mockery of the taxpayers.
A block vote is very important only when its used for the taxpayers who make up the block, not when its used and abused for a few yechidim.

  1. I have always been amazed that candidates in this town dont do town hall meetings to meet directly with constituents.

This is insulting, are we sheep??

  2. Don't vote for ANY VAAD endorsed candidates.
Vote for others or a write-in.

    1. The Cubs will win the world Series before I get a VAAD endorsement. You know what ? How about we just all agree that the VAAD IS IRELLEVANT! just as IRELLEVANT as the entire Committee that does not concern itself with making Lakewood a better place to live and making sure we can be proud of our town and make a kiddush Hashem every day. We will vote for Isaac Akerman in spite of the VAAD endorsement, and make sure to vote for Dovid Egert who was not endorsed by them because he refuses to do as they say.
And a big NO on number two which is just a way for Christie to pay off his political donors with our hard earned money.
The VAAD endorsement is as worthless as anybody elses. Do what you know is right .

  4. I usually vote for whoever is not in office. However the one running against Akerman did not even run one ad explaining his positions!

  5. In this years election it's as important as ever, not only to vote but to vote for the candidates that are NOT endorsed by the self appointed nameless
Vaad. A strong show of opposition is desperately needed in this town to send a clear message to our elected officials, that our voices must be heard. Whether you are fed up with the sky rocketing property taxes, lack of proper infrastructure, over development, busing fiasco, free garbage pick up for properties that do not pay taxes, disregard for zoning laws, lack of police enforcement, traffic and safety, etc... the list keeps growing every year, the only real voice and power to put an end to all this is by showing up to vote the opposition.
Is a once a year 5-10 minute trip to the voting place not worth in exchange for the hours upon hours sitting in traffic on a daily basis??

  6. The olam is voting Republican despite the vaad endorsement. Akerman is getting the public vote regardless of the vaad. The vaad than claims credit for the votes.

  7. Vote NO on question Two. Don't be fooled that the money is going to rt 9
the Vaad has been using the r 9 excuse since the McCgreevy and Corzine elections. A no vote on gas tax will force politicians to revisit the bill and stop Treetop from taking your money.

  8. I spoke to a Rosh yeshiva about the vaad that it only represents certain special interests. He said the shtut should go ahead and make its own vaad.
    any volunteers?

  9. Vaad can't scare us with buying and taxes so now they are using rt 9.
Vote NO ON ALL 3 BALLOT QUESTIONS.

  10. Do not vote for anybody who voted to approve the 23 gas tax hike!!!

Vote for anyone else and send them a message: We need people in office who know how to cut budgets - instead of just raising taxes again and again....

    1. They are not up for election this year only next year. But of the 4 Republicans who voted for the gas tax 3 were endorsed by the vaad. Bob Singer, kean and Rible. Vote them out next November.

    1. It's bad enough thousands still have no busing on top of that we are paying 23 cents more per gallon.
This bus deal is costing more for taxpayers. Lakewood taxpayers are paying 1.6 million for public school courtesy busing.

  12. Voting against Akerman because he is endorsed by the VAAD is like chopping off your arm to lose some weight.

  13. Harold totaly agree with you on Akerman just read this article to hear what his opponent has to say-Democratic newcomer Mordecai Gross, 38, doesn't disagree that growth poses a major challenge for Lakewood, but he says he's not in favor of any kind of building moratorium, as some residents have called for.
“It's very, very complicated. It's very nice to say, 'Let's slow things down,'" said Gross, a corporate attorney. "There are people who want to move to Lakewood. It's a challenge." But Harold Egert says not enough resources for his kid in special Ed! You agree with that? http://www.app.com/story/news/local/jackson-lakewood/lakewood/2016/10/27/lakewood-election-2016-committee-school-board/92764894/
