Lakewood township cancels Adventure in the park concert and festival

Cancelation Notice

Due to public safety concerns, the township of Lakewood New Jersey has officially cancelled Adventure In The Park 2016 as a result of the uncertainty of Hurricane Matthew's impact on the Jersey Shore this Friday October 7th through Sunday October 9th. We have spoken with town officials and it is in the communities best interest to prepare for what is approaching, due to previous historic hurricanes which have impacted the surrounding areas. Please be aware that this is solely for the safety of all adventurers and artists.

We are extremely sorry for any inconvenience this has caused anyone, and we are working diligently to make next year's festival a much greater experience!

Full refunds will be available at your point of purchase. Those who purchased tickets online will receive an email from Ticketfly or Ticketmaster by the end of the day.

  1. Can someone please explain this to me
Doesn’t the LIC “own” the stadium? So why is the township manager sending the letter? And why is he only CC’ing the members of the committee and not the LIC?

    1. The township is fully responsible for the stadium. The LIC is just another waisted office with salaries that takes over the blame when the township commitee wants to keep its hands clean. The deal negotiated with Blueclaws was supposed to be worked out with the townshhip, the Lawyer figured out that some commitee members received free tickets for ball games at the stadium thus absolving the commitee from negotiating a deal. Enter LIC whose members are all appointed by the township commitee and they signed off a 40+ year lease deal with the blue claws. And here is the kicker
They gave the blueclaws full control of all off season events at the stadium including all the revenue!! basically besides the 145K a year lease payment from the blueclaws which goes to the LIC to pay for their spending, all revenue generated at the stadium and first energy park goes to the blueclaws!!
Lakewood taxpayers get nothing but noise traffic and sleepless nights.

  4. Weather calls for clouds and chance of showers Saturday. Sunshine all day Sunday. The real reason this is being cancelled is that they saw what was coming. It took a noisy concert, complaints and warnings to get them to change their mind. Anyone with half a brain would have never allowed this in the firat place. Anyone honest would never allow the Blue Claws to control our stadium and profit from our loss.

  7. This is all shady as the storm is not likely to even make it past Carolina. They will probably try to scam insurance money for a force majeure, I hope they do not win.
