  1. Which area are they changing zoning for?

    1. Just about the entire Lakewood except for 14th St. Raintree and selected areas outside Westgate.

The areas that have been singled out for the greatest destruction are Spruce/ Vine area and Cross Street. either someone on the Township really doesn't like people there, or someone influential owns land there.

I have shown up at the last few zoning, planning meetings. Was going to go tonight, but got tied up with work. I really hope people showed up in large numbers and asked pointed questions.

  3. It is time for a recall of menashe and meir. There I said it. I think this past year was the last straw. Since they have been in office our quality of life has dwindled. Ability to conduct business has been hobbled. Our taxes have skyrocketed due to irresponsible growth that they caused. Time to say ENOUGH. I know many of you out there have asked me how we can start the recall process. I do not know. But i am sure there are many out there that do. I will join you in this effort.

  4. I am going to make my first campaign promise now. The moment I am sworn in I will demand a complete moratorium on all developments above 5 units and variances to build multi family housing until a traffic solution is found. If meir and menashe are still in office they would never oppose my constant demands that will be covered by media. I will have expert planners come to discuss the necessity to have a complete moratorium. I will be making many more public demands that will benefit all of us and no longer a select few. I will save the other demands for a later date. I will no longer be making demands from a blog post or at some town meeting. I will make my demands as a fellow committee member. I would love to hear their excuse not to listen to what the people want.

    2. I'll be honest, I have written some skeptical comments on here about your pre-occupation with the downtown area, as opposed to the much bigger issue of over-development.

I also think a fresh face may have broader appeal,But if you would run, I would vote for you, maybe even donate to your campaign.

I don't see any other candidate running. the fact that committee members barely make any money, practically guarantees that most honest candidates won't run. The only people who would run, aside for yourself, are people looking to cash in on their influence.

What we really need is paid committee members, and a paid full time mayor. This would draw qualified and honest people to run.

the fact that the executive director of the LIC gets paid more than the mayor (on the books, of course) is highly unusual.

  6. It's time for new blood. Is there anyone out there that can withstand the pressure and do the will of the people? Someone without an agenda? The current system of government in Lakewood is set up for corruption. How can this job attract an honest person if it doesn't even offer a decent salary?? The only reason anyone would take the job was to capitalize on the corruption! It's time to change the system. Make the Mayor a paid position with a decent salary this way we would have a chance of attracting someone that is truly qualified to run this town.

    1. I agree with you 100%. The mayor needs to be a full time decent paying job. the people on the committee don't want that, because they know it would draw qualified opponents, who could defeat them.

    2. I hate to break it to you. There were many corrupt mayor's and governors that had a paid position. A paid position does not guarantee a non corrupt mayor. I wish it were that easy.

    3. Of course it doesn't guarantee it, but a non-paid position virtually guarantees corruption.
